Toots many many years ago when I was a slip of a thing (as oldsneeze was GrinShock) we always fed older children on blended diet and guess what they did very well. We just put liquidised the ward food down the tubes quite sloppy to stop the tube blocking. Mind you these were not gastrostomies they were NG tubes which were easier to change

Seriously if your LO has no nutritional problems I would give whirl. Mind you your dietician may have a sucked lemon face!!

starfishmummy · 06/05/2014 17:45

Mine does if Blended diet is mentioned!!

ilovemonstersInc · 07/05/2014 09:09

Totally off topic buut
Ive been getting really odd pains for around 4 days now. Feels like when your in labour just before pushing you get the pain in bottom of stomach, back and bum? Plusa few braxton hicks chucked In and pain at top of bump (plaplacenta is fundal if that helps anything? ) its more than standard aches and pains. Sometimes pain is almost unbearable amd sometimes its not too bad.

I have mw appointment at hospital tomorrow but dont want her to say go up to triage and be monitored as I will have both dc with me so was thinking ring triage and ask what to do?

Sneezecakesmum · 07/05/2014 09:22

Toots. There is a blended diet Facebook page. Blended diet UK. There are over 500 people there many starting out on BD. There's a book recommended there which will answer all the questions you have.

Basically it's like weaning a baby, we started with baby rice and typical baby weaning foods.

Sweet potato is excellent to start with.

The benefits we've found. Constipation gone, vomiting massively reduced thus avoiding a 5 hour Nissan operation, height and weight now almost normal after years of not being on the charts, healthy looking child, able to tailor diet to your child's needs, able to ensure lots of healthy fruit and veg and all the nutrients and vits you need, parent satisfaction that you are feeding your child the best they can have, more energy and others I can't remember. Go for it, just apply to the fb page. Smile

Monstersinc. I'd have a word with the midwife about the discomforts, but a lot of aches and pains are common in pregnancy. Which is why I hated it!

Sneezecakesmum · 07/05/2014 09:25

Actually sounds a bit like SPD?

ilovemonstersInc · 07/05/2014 09:52

I have spd but thats mainly in my hips really I know sit like a man
Dietitian isnt coming this morning so going to get hold of triage.

ilovemonstersInc · 08/05/2014 11:49

Had to go upto triage as had a bit of a show. Had to wait 5hours for 2min internal to be told cervix is shut gohhome Hmm
Swabs done as she saw 'fluid' and could be infection causing the pain. Its horrible sharp pains across bump now too. Glad its shut. She said it Could change at any time and come back if pains persists or more show or bleeding Hmm

back on peg stuff..

ds new pump is due to come didn't hit me that hes not going to like such a big change! I told him hes getting anew oone and we will kiss old one and send him to be fixed as hes not working. He said no he will cry and hes scared he stay mamas house and that hes scared of new one. Hes had it over2 years. Its played such a big part of his life. Cant remember the amount of times ive seen him cuddle his iv pole and kiss the pump

Giddypants · 08/05/2014 17:19

Toots go to the Facebook group blended diet uk. Lots of advice from people

Sneezecakesmum · 10/05/2014 16:28

Kissing the pump! We couldn't with the throw it out the window return it.

Pregnancy is awful. Sorry but that's just my thoughts on it. Horrible, uncomfortable business. Thank goodness no possibility Grin

ilovemonstersInc · 11/05/2014 08:52

Dietitian came the other day and ds hasn't put on weight again despite increasing feeds. She doesn't want to increase feeds yet though as hes only just on the 25th centile while height is 50th. If he comes of the 25th (hes literally bang on line) then we need to fatten him up but dont want to yet.

Congratulations on your new car sneeze Grin
I saw the thread and clicked as we were going to get one ourselves.

Sneezecakesmum · 11/05/2014 19:15

Not mine, but DH! He's a bit of a fantasist! Sees himself as 007 or someone driving around instead of the old fart he really is Grin

He's happy though Smile

Elbear is on the 50th centile for height and between 25-50 for weight. We are constantly fattening him up and he looks healthy but as he doesn't move and build up muscle, I think muscle weighs more than fat so he's about right!

He always put on weight then shoots up and weight lags behind again. Just grown 4 cm!

Giddypants · 11/05/2014 20:56

Jeezes so busy at work I ache all over, non stop for 12 hrs!
Boys asleep, not seen them all day :(

ilovemonstersInc · 12/05/2014 16:09

That's the problem with these lads! A few extra calories and they shoot up! Knocking the charts a bit.

Ah giddy hope you got a cuddle of them both today x

ds has been referred to development paed for ? Autism. Hv came today and said there's enough to refer and a other hearing test to just make sure the meningitis did nothing to it. How is everyone?

X

ilovemonstersInc · 12/05/2014 16:10

Granny are you ok? Not heard from you for a while now x

2old2beamum · 12/05/2014 21:56

DGD have not done a runner but am feeling like itSad Bloody computer playing up and did go away for the weekend.

Sorry your pregnancy is causing you so many problems my knowledge is so distant I am afraid I am not much use!
Re DGGS weight I am having a similar problem with Annabel she weighs 23K which for her age is OK just below the 25th centile but factor in her height of 137cm it is a different story.

Jay's new tube is infected and despite 7 days of Co-amaxiclav no improvement so off to GP tomorrow. He is crapping for England.

Enough grumbling from me will get back tomorrow when hopefully my mood will be better.

Love to all you little (s)tinkers

ilovemonstersInc · 13/05/2014 08:29

Granny he might need iv antibiotics :(

After giving ds a shower last night you could see how thin he is. We can fatten him up but that might stop him eating if hes more full?

off to get a referral today hopefully fx they give me oje for Sheffield for ds to see the right dr again x
did you enjoy you weekend granny? X

ilovemonstersInc · 13/05/2014 08:43

Couldn't get a bloody appointment! Ivw tried for a week now ti get 1!

Sneezecakesmum · 13/05/2014 10:43

Big hug to 20ld . It's the endless problems Angry that get you down.

Lovemonsters. Fatten DS up. It's a fallacy to say a thin person will feel hungrier and therefore eat more. They are more likely to eat if they have a normal bmi. So get busy with the calories Grin

ilovemonstersInc · 13/05/2014 18:33

Hes doing shit eating orally which is a shame as one point he was doing ok. Hes had noodles and a bap bun thingy all day Confused
I saw his old measurements and in 2 years hes put on 8lb! Shock even though hes on the bloody feeds too. Will probably increase it. We increased about a month or so ago and hes getting a full extra days worth of calories in a week now so 4 extra days of feed a month.

ilovemonstersInc · 15/05/2014 11:59

Yes yes yes! She did the referral no bother. It was a different gp who saw us. Thank fuck.

Giddypants · 15/05/2014 22:08

Yay :)

ilovemonstersInc · 16/05/2014 08:28

The gastro here said ' you bring him and I canr find anything wrong with him' so I said
why is he still constipates despite the meds? Food undigested 10hours in sick? Refluxing more? Pain? Blood in stool? He had no answer to give. He said dont you trust us here. I said no yoube done 1 scope and 2 lots of bloods since hes been here nearly 2years. If you don't test you wont know. He said his bloods look okish.
Hes been referred to development paed for autism and gp this morning said its over diagnosed and he said yeh could be that as autistic kids are suffer from constipation Confused!

ilovemonstersInc · 16/05/2014 08:42

Ohh and he said why have you come here if your going there? Well arsehole you called him!
He said what im saying doesnt tie up with what ds is presenting. I said no your just confused as you dont know what to do. I admit that ds has a very happy personality and high pain threshold. He smiled his way through meningitis! I said the other dr looks past his personality and actually looks into his problems.

Ooooooo he really pissed me off! Angry

ilovemonstersInc · 17/05/2014 20:18

Bumppp
