I am sorry but is this the best they can do?

It is completely unquestioning, pliably going along with the reforms and talking some bollocks about jam or marmite.

I am so glad they are representing parents interests.

TOWIE - the problem with the ' we didn't know' approach (and I am not shooting you down honest) is that they SHOULD know, they are paid to know by their own revenue sources and by the GOv.

This is their job. To speak up for children and promote their rights. I they don't know these things are happening and they have been going long enough to know otherwise, then something badly wrong is happening with their organisation.

But the original blog post showed a level of disengagement from the lives of parents which suggested the poster had no real understanding of the issues. It was bordering on insensitive in its theorising.

That and the 'we can't lobby' even thought we are the Council for Disabled Children must hugely compromise their credibility.

Very sad.

My post hasn't got on there yet.

Totally agree with you ie. I did say I was trying to play devils advocate Grin

I found their post very offensive. Although not aimed personally at my child, it felt that it was. His education is a matter of choosing Marmite one day or jam the next! If we're going to go with awful analogies, then I want my child to consistently have butter everyday. The jam or marmalade is an optional extra.

I know. I think it was that level of insensitivity which got me so cross and made me think this woman hasn't any idea about our lives.

I think there is a lot of money being spent on networking and meetings and lots of people swooning at the sudden attention from Gov.

IPSA say £12m has been spent on Pathfinders so far - for what? A couple of dozen pilots and a lot of illegal activity and hot air as far as I can see.

^ Strange isn't it. I wrote mine early this morning before the other ones on there from today were posted. Mine hasn't been approved yet.

Hmm
StarlightMcKenzie · 11/07/2013 19:27

I reckon they are approved automatically unless you are 'marked' then subsequent posts await moderation.

You know, I was thinking when the arsey cow from the LGO (on other thread) reduced me to tears of frustration this afternoon, what would it be like if we had a really feisty body which bravely took up challenges and which stood behind parents when things like that happened? Things that are so obviously wrong it's untrue.

Yet, when I have tried to contact these bodies over issues like the LGOs unlawful view on SEN provision, their silence is deafening. Even when though know I have been supported, pro bono, by leading lawyers. SILENCE. Even AFASIC asked me to become a member so they could help, I did, and they said sorry we can't help! Hmm

Why? Do they become self-perpetuating bureaucracies, searching for grants to eek out an existence? And their purpose becomes this above all else?

Imagine a land where all these charities stood up an shouted loudly about poor practice in the NHS, LAs and oversight bodies. Imagine how great that would be.

The look at what we have. And that is why parents don't get their voices heard.

My 1st comment I had to wait for it to be approved, 2nd comment auto-approved, 3rd comment is awaiting a human to release it.

If I didn't know better, I'd be paranoid!

(But I suspect they haven't got the settings on their blog setup properly - I personally would never allow any comment on my blog to be auto-approved - even from someone who had previously had a comment approved!)

IE - I strongly believe that social media is a revolution that the 'establishment' has not cottoned onto yet. It is an amazingly powerful media and has been used to achieve incredible results elsewhere in other spheres.

Social media is the one thing that all parents can do. Everyone here on MNSN uses social media (or they wouldn't be here Grin ). As a collective body of angry parents all using social media - we can have a voice. And, as seen on another twitter thread, social media is a direct and immediate line straight to those at the very top of organisations.

Never released my last comment. Oh well.

Nor mine. I can only guess that the truth is too much for children's charity to handle.
