So 4 days after her arm cast came off, she broke her ankle <sigh>

Can you believe it?

3 weeks ago, DD1 fell over at school and broke a bone in her hand. Cue 1 week in a soft cast and 2 weeks in a below-elbow cast.

Her cast came off on Tuesday.

Today, she fell over on a bouncy castle at KIDS club (respite) and has a fractured growth plate in her ankle. I've just got home from A&E. Non weight-bearing.

Happy days.

Waaaaagh. Poor DD.

DS2's bumped his head, hard, twice today. Thankfully nothing broken except his pride.

RippingYarns · 15/06/2013 22:34

That's true shit of the highest order - hope she's not in too much pain

Get well soon

Ineedmorepatience · 15/06/2013 22:47

Sad poor thing !

Handywoman · 15/06/2013 22:48

Oh no!! Tis rubbish!! Wine for you and Biscuit and Brew as required

rosielou678 · 15/06/2013 22:50

Poor her - hope she gets better soon Flowers.

And poor you too Flowers

lougle · 15/06/2013 23:05

The worst thing is that the worker with her said it had just happened when I arrived and that DD1's foot wasn't swollen. I thought she was being a drama llama and made her walk Sad She was crying but I thought she was putting it on.

A few hours sat on the sofa told us that there was something wrong - she never sits still. In fact the last time she did was 3 weeks ago when she had broken her hand Blush.

Bouncy castle
I'd ban them

Bet she recovers quicker than you do!

MumuDeLulu · 16/06/2013 09:56

Hmm. As I typed that very short message (& saved dd from ds1), ds2 attacked her with a large stick. Ho hum. Think McD drive-in beckons so I can restrain / straitjacket keep them safely strapped in while feeding them junk healthy fruit bags and milk.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/06/2013 13:05

Oh no, Lougle! Sad

lougle · 16/06/2013 18:27

Today was pretty awful, tbh. She's in a non weight-bearing cast. She got up at 05.30. Trying to explain that she must not stand on it was not easy.

SoupDragon · 16/06/2013 18:29

Oh my word, that's totally crap. Poor her and, by extension, Poor you!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/06/2013 19:09

How long in this cast, Lougle? They will put her in a better one, won't they?

lougle · 16/06/2013 19:43

It's below knee, just a 3-strip back slabby thing with soft bandage over. They say she'll go back sometime in the week and have it changed.

It's an absolute pain though, because she won't be able to go on transport tomorrow so I'll have to take her in, which means my Mum will have to take the other two into school/preschool. Mum can't do the afternoon because she's looking after my sister's children, so DH will have to start work late.

I'll have to discuss with school and see if we can get a road-legal wheelchair so she can go on her bus. The escorts aren't allowed to lift her in and out of her chair and the Mac Major isn't road legal, I think.

Thank you all, very rude of me.

She's been crying all day. She doesn't get non weight bearing. At all. I had to tell her that if she walks on it she'll have an operation and needles (her biggest fear) in an attempt to stop her walking on it.

I text the leader of respite last night and she hadn't even been told about the accident until she saw DD1 hobbling up the corridor! She's going to investigate.

Red Cross Wheelchair loan/ hire

MumuDeLulu · 16/06/2013 20:06

If dd1's paediatrician tells the fracture clinic she will weight-bear, regardless of their advice and your vigilance, they should get her fixed up very quickly.

Or you could just turn up for review tomorrow morning, at her name not being on the list.

lougle · 16/06/2013 20:30

Thank you, Mumu, I will phone the HT in the morning and get balls rolling. She's going to love me Grin

I'm just so relieved that both breaks have happened outside the home - can you imagine how it will look to Social Services? 2 breaks in 1 month!

coff33pot · 17/06/2013 00:43

oh no! first one end and now the other!

Hope it heals quickly for her x have they said how long it will take?

NoHaudinMaWheest · 17/06/2013 12:47

Oh no Lougle that's tough.

Second Red Cross Hire. They were very quick and efficient when school suddenly decided dd couldn't attend unless she had a wheelchair.

lougle · 17/06/2013 16:10

Red cross don't have anything in the surrounding areas, partly due to 3 wheelchairs having been used by children at DD1's school.

So we're going to have to wait until she has a walking boot and I'll just have to take her in the mean time.

youarewinning · 17/06/2013 20:52

lougle How old is your DD now? I can see if we have any this end available for you to use? Might even have some spares at school? I know if we do they are road/bus tested!

lougle · 17/06/2013 22:07

She's 7½, youarewinning. That's very kind of you to offer.

youarewinning · 18/06/2013 06:46

I'll have an ask at school today. If we don't have any our physio support may know of where I can aqquire one from for a while!
She gets all sorts!!!!!
