What's the best dyslexia book for a 6yo?

My dd aged 6 has just been diagnosed with mild dyslexia. The ed psych who did the diagnosis has given us a long list of textbooks, but most of them are really expensive so we're going to have to limit ourselves to one or two.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Was "Toe by Toe" on the list? We use that and its very good - highly recommend it.

The Gift of Dyslexia is an excellent book - I have heard it recommended many times.

Thanks rosielou and beemom. I will order both of those.

I would recommend - after having tried them all - dancing bears by sound foundations.
Alternatively, you could check out the TH support thread.
Good luck

The Dyslexia Advantage, by Brocke Eide - American book, long, massively helpful, written in a popular science style but with long sections at the back on strategies for every stage. You might find your DS is a bit young for some of it to apply, but it's a very thoughtful and practical read. (and I hate most dyslexia books).

Thank you so much. I had already ordered the Dyslexia Advantage on Amazon as I liked the look of it, so it's good to know it will be helpful. I will check out Dancing Bears - an intriguing title!

What is the TH support thread?

This is the TH Support thread

Tinsley House is a neurodevelopment therapy.

Badvoc and Indigo's DC no longer have dyslexic symptoms after doing TH therapy for a year or so.

Toe by toe is recommended for 8yrs plus, I believe. It is good for reading, but if your DD struggles with spelling too I would look into Word Wasp instead. It is from the same author.

A lot of people on here would go for Apples and Pears instead.

School are doing word wasp with my DS as advised by Specialist Teacher (like ed psych) so we didn't need to pay for it, school did.....
