TINSLEY HOUSE SUPPORT THREAD - PART 3!!!! :)

Well, here is the shiny new thread for all of us either doing the TH programme, doing part of it, or thinking about doing it! :)
A brief synopsis of stage 1 of the programme can be found in the books "is that my child?" Or "the brain food plan" by robin pauc;

Stage 1 of the TH therapy consists of:

  1. Daily Multivitamins
  • Omega
  • Zinc & Magnesium
  1. Healthy eating
  • High protein, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners, additives etc.
  1. Specific neuro development exercises done 3 times a day
  • Takes about 4-5 mins

And that's it :)

Stage 2 involves computer programmes to sort out eye tracking and convergence which over 80% of children with reading/writing problems have.

We are coming to the end of our time doing TH I reckon...certainly by the end of the summer I think. It has been in many ways much easier than I thought at the beginning but of course takes commitment and time.

I am so glad we "took the plunge". It has made such a difference to ds and to our lives :)

Just about to buy some more supplements for DS - can someone remind me what I need to check for - sugar free, colouring free, anything else to watch out for?

Checking in :) we had another OT session this morning and DD did really well.

The OT asked me if there had been any changes at home as she has come on so fast. Change of diet of anything?

I just want to say thank you to everyone contributing to the previous thread!You are doing an amazing JOB!!!!!

Just a quick update.....

I have been completing the Engaging Eyes program for nearly 3 weeks and its made a massive difference with reading ,fluency with speech and eye strain issues!I no longer need to wear glassess

I have been taking the supplements for nearly 3 months and its helped in regards to my memory
I was recommended Lumosity by another parent and its a fantastic program to help with working memory,short memory,concentration and attention!!
The TH approach is not only for children ..there is hope if your adult and you suffered or experienced a development delay as a child

I will be watching this thread very closely as I am hoping to take DD7 there soon. We have recently finished AIT and feel very positive and ready to move on to Tinsley. I have been looking at their web page and it doesn't seem to mention children with AS, has anybody visited with their DC with AS? Do you buy all supplements from them? does assessment etc take a day or more? TIA

Happy. Yes, some of us have dc with as.
My son did ait too, and really benefitted :)
You don't buy the supplements from robin, but he can give you a discount code for the vegepa (see website)
The initial assessment is an hour (ish)

Happy, my ds' diagnosis was of aspergers traits. We've been doing TH since June last year. He now only has a few AS traits left.

Happy247 my DS is 3 and was recently diagnosed with autism. We saw Robin in Feb, just before he had the assessment. DH and I are a bit sceptical about the diagnosis but have gone along with it as he does definitely have a delay and may need support at nursery (though hopefully not by school... Wink). I emailed then rang Robin as, like you, I was concerned that his website/books didn't mention it. I'd recommend giving him a call. He's very friendly and easy to talk to.

DS has recovered from his cold but has given it to me. Feeling rough. And DD decided that it was party time between 11 and 2 last night. Then she got up at 6. I've spent the day on a paracetamol and ibuprofen cocktail. I can't even take a decongestant as I'm still breastfeeding. I'd kill for a dose of night nurse!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. We're taking the kids for a day out tomorrow, on a train to the coast, where we'll eat fish and chips, then come home again! Smile

Oh lookslikerain..that's tough :( can you have soluble co codamol? That really helped me when I was ill a month or so ago.

Not sure badvoc but its worth looking into. I'll go to chemist tomorrow. DS was like a one-man-band this morning, banging on a drum with a maraca in one hand and a tambourine in the other. He was very proud of himself; I thought my head was going to explode!

What's the butterfly park plan? Just been checking it out online and there's a money off voucher you can download and print off. Is the plan to have lunch in the cafe? Couldn't see if there is a picnic place?

For anyone who buys the Vegepa from the Igennus site as I usually do, I've just noticed that the site below is showing the chewables currently at a good saving towards the Igennus site. Well done Badvoc for starting the new thread and all the great advice. We've currently up to the hemi P and hemi T with the tracking. My DS has made really good progress but its when you hear 'he's where he should be for his writing' at a recent parents evening that you realise how far we've come. He's always been below average with his writing previously despite battling through different books, programs etc.

....and on that subject...Tom has just finished his dinner and gone round to his friends house round the corner to play football :) :)
The mere fact he will happily walk anywhere on his own is pretty significant for him.
Back to school for us on Monday and I can't say I am sorry! :)

Shopping - I just had a look on line and there are picnic areas shown on the map. I will probably take things for my two as DD is gluten and dairy free and it can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare.

We will aim to get there for about 10:30 - 11, but it really does depend what the traffic is like.

Does anyone who has been know a good place to try and meet?
