HI, I applied for DLA 3 weeks ago for DS2 and I rang today to ask if they had received the forms, the man I spoke to on the phone said yes and that a decision had been made.

Is it a bad sign that a decision has been made but there's no payment been made into my account? I keep hearing that the money goes into your account the after the decision has been made and that it is always paid before you receive an award letter.

I just rang! DS has been awarded high rate care and low rate mobility! Grin So pleased.

Smile That's really great! I'm so happy for you, sounds like it's a huge weight lifted. Smile Wine

I hope you also get an equally good outcome, I sent in lots of reports frm CAMHS, OT and speech therapy so this will hopefully help you too.

He was let down by our last HA so is still on the road to being diagnosed (he's 14, I've been trying to get him some help since he was 7). His OT assessment isn't until the end of the month and the physio had to stop after 15 minutes because he was in too much pain. He's due to be reassessed by her at the end of the month too but she picked up SPD and hypotinia at the first appointment and they made him some new insoles for his shoes which have helped a little, which is great!! We only really have the letters from the paediatrician but I gave them the contact details for the physio. I don't think they will contact her though. Sad Fingers crossed.

Justpondering, do you work? If you get paid less than about £430 a month you will be eligible for Carer's allowance. Otherwise it should increase your child tax credits. Need to let them know.

JustPondering · 11/04/2013 18:21

No I dont work , I will ring tax credits and carers in the morning.

I cant believe the claim has been succesful, I thought I had a fight on my hands Grin

I still need to send of DS3 claim form but not sure that it will be succesful as he is not 2 till may. But his needr are more than DS2s so I think I will give it a try. He has speech and social communication difficulties and is having ADOS in autumn, he already recieves speech therapy and is starting at special needs nursery in september.

I didn't get an appointed person letter?! Maybe that was because they made their decision in just 4 days from receiving my completed claim form?

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs · 11/04/2013 20:47

Yay! So glad. Seems to be a good time for DLA applications right now.

LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 17/04/2013 11:25

I popped to the bank before I went to the supermarket and there was an extra £350 in there! Grin Arrived home to a letter; they've awarded ds the medium care rate!! Nothing for mobility though (he can't walk very far without pain). A humungous thank you to you all for recommending the cerebra guide and listening to me moan Smile Thanks It'll make a huge difference to him.

JustPondering · 17/04/2013 11:56

Yay so happy the application was successful. Can you not appeal against the decision not to award mobility? DS can actually walk but they have awarded mobility as he needs supervision and guidance outdoors, I think it must depend on who's desk your application lands on.

I may, I'm just relieved that they didn't turn us down again at the moment. I can live off what I have coming in now, his bus fares were crippling me as I have to go with him to school etc. Smile He does need supervision when he's outside; it's not just his feet but the comments that he makes to strangers. He'll tell them not to swear or smoke or spit; I can see why because it is gross, he just doesn't get that some people will hit him. Sad
