Assessment for a major buggy

I dont know whether I have mentioned before but we have applied for a major buggy. DD has her assessment next week to see if she needs one. They will prioritise and then if they think she is bad enough they will put her on the list. I dont know whether it will be sorted before we move. We applied ages ago and they just dont seem very motivated.

Anyway going off track now. Just wondered what the assessment actually is. I have got to travel 15 miles with her on the bus to another hospital and may have to take ds with me aswell (most likely) How long does it take? and what do they do? ThanksSmile

Since theres days left on it id stop bidding for now...or youll end up paying a mint for it. And while your waiting for that auction to end id keep looking up the same item, in case someone else puts one on for a lot cheaper. I am charlie cat on ebay too!

Viva, why don't you contact wheelchair services to ask them to reassess you?

viva · 30/01/2004 11:08

ok persuade my mum that id be better in a wheelchair than a maclaren major are they better mum thinks being in a major or a wheelchair is the same until im older she says

Lou33 · 30/01/2004 12:32

You don't need to persuade her, that would be wheelchair services job if you get an appointment.

viva · 01/02/2004 13:37

hi
do you think i would get the latest maclaren buggy mum dont think i will just that she did buy this 1 be nice if i got a brand new 1 do i ask for 1 being 16 will they take notice of me

lou33 · 01/02/2004 18:16

You don't know unless you try Viva. Give them a call.

viva · 03/02/2004 12:30

hi thanks lou seeing see the weelchair services next week mum got appointment she saying all i talk isnew buggy but i might not get 1. should i this 1 is old tho but do they still do the blue stripy ones at weelchair services if there still giving them out mum sed i got no chance is she right

lou33 · 03/02/2004 14:41

If you have outgrown the major they will recommend you another one. They are the experts, not your mum, so I would go with their advice on the whole. Good luck.

viva · 08/02/2004 16:59

hi all
seeing wheelchair services thursday just ill be excited if i get a new 1 let you know

Jollymum · 08/02/2004 17:31

Hey Viva, is there any chance of you getting an electric wheelchair? I know they're really expensive but maybe Social Services could help. What music do you like, my kids are into Avril Lavigne (dd aged 9) and my oldest is nearly fourteen and he goes from thing to thing so quickly that if I mention something he did last week "Oh Mum, you are such a Kev etc etc!" Are you still at school and what would you like to do, after exams. You must be doing GSCE's soon, I think, but maybe not. I'm not quite into the exam stuff yet, although my 10 year old is doing practice SATS at the moment. Is your Mum really protective, maybe that's why she wants you to have a "bugggy". It must be really hard for her to push you round and it would be great for you to have a bit more independence. Hope everything goes well at the assessment, keep in touch. xxxxxx

viva · 13/02/2004 10:24

hi went to see about new buggy upset a bit still got me old 1 just this lady said that mines still ok for me just not fare

MABS · 14/04/2004 08:51

have just been told that ds is too big for a major buggy by wheelchair services !!! He's not even 4 yrs yet . They have said he'll need a wheelchair which is totally unnecessary in his case. All we need is a big buggy cos he's outgrown his 'normal' on e. I am so bl**dy angry. (doesn't help that i'm also jetlagged and was felling v mellow after 3 wks in the sun!!)
