DS4 (5) is deaf and non verbal ASD - Watching NumTums this morning on CBeebies, before rushing out to school, when he started counting along with the program. Granted that it could be construed as echolalia, but seeing as he can't speak I was delighted that he was copying the rhythm and tone as if he was saying 1,2,3,4 etc to 10! He was so engaged with it, and pleased with himself. Smile

That's fantastic ! - I wonder why letters and numbers are so attractive to ASD children ? ds1 is obsessed by letter and number apps but will not do any other kind of app even ones that are cognitively easier IYYWIM

Big Smiles all round!!

That is great, it is so lovely when they do something that just takes you by surprise.

He is my little ray of sunshine, but not when he is busy destroying stuff - obviously! Wink

That's brilliant! Grin I've got one whose first words were circle, square and triangle, nothing useful, like biscuit, drink, mummy etc. Confused Love it!

Echolalia trumps non-verbal any day of the week! Well done, MasterBear.

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 16/01/2013 21:42

Such lovely news. My dd's first words (after her regression) were the numbers 1 to 20 :-)
