Anyone interested in another Moondog training session?

Evening all.

I went to Moondog's training session in B'ham earlier this year and found it really useful as well as enjoying the opportunity to meet other MNers.

I wondered if anyone would be interested in attending another one - perhaps in the SE this time?

For me personally, I'd love to consolidate some of what was covered at the first session and being totally selfish, would also want to cover some topics that would be relevant to my DD starting school next year.

For those who don't know, Moondog is a regular poster here. She is a v experienced SALT with an MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

The session some of us attended in B'ham was really an introduction to ABA with Moondog and her colleague sharing several practical ABA-based techniques that they have used very successfully with children with SN - to help both with communication and learning.

So, if you're interested and think you could help me persuade Moondog to run another course, please post below giving an indication of what would be helpful to you and what region would suit you best (SE, Midlands etc). If there's enough common ground, then we might be able to set something up.

Many thanks

I'll do what you all want, if you can (more or less)agree on a date and location.
If it's financially viable for me to do it, I'll go anywhere and do anything-more or less.
Grin

Bumpety bump for anyone interested in coming who's not seen the exciting location poll yet Grin

I'm loving the poll too zzzzz and like pinkorkid can see how I would use it for other things too. I'm offline from now until late Saturday eve or maybe Sunday so if someone could give this thread a bump every now and then if it needs it that would be great.

Think we have 10 people on the poll so there's still quite a few who expressed an interest who need to vote.

Hmmm - I'm starting to wonder what we do if there are 3 locations tied on the same number

www.doodle.com/yrkxnka83ieptud3 here is the link again!

Mess perhaps start a new thread with the link in the title so people can find it easily as it will always remain in the OP.

alexpolismum · 17/11/2012 19:14

This is not going to add anything useful to the thread, but I just want to say that I would so love to go to this event, and I would if I lived the UK. I have been reading about ABA online and I'm sure it would help my ds2

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 17/11/2012 20:52

Only just seen this, I know nothing of ABA but would like to know, so if it's something that would benefit a novice then I'm interested. I'm in Yorkshire but only 1 1/2h from London by train. But dh is on shifts so the exact time and place would be the deciding factor for me coming or not.

zzzzz thankyou, that's very kind Smile Don't forget that I am a layman too, so I am sure anything you have to say will be useful, especially compared to my current lack of knowledge!

I hope there will be a thread about it that I can read through too.

schobe · 18/11/2012 08:58

When I click the link I go to a completely blank page!

However, I'm completely flexible and central so would have ticked all the locations anyway.

Thanks for doing all this messmonster Smile

trying again with the link for anyone interested in going.

Evening all.

Well the scores on the doors are in and the preferred location for the Moondog training event is ...

London.

24 MNers can make it to London (next nearest being 20 to Watford and 15 to Oxford).

I'm conscious that, on the face of it, this doesn't work for some but I'm hopeful that collectively we can come up with some plans to allow everyone who wants to, to take part.

Next step will be to get a proposed course outline posted (I'll probably create a new thread) and to start trying to find a venue.

If anyone knows of somewhere in London that is fairly low-cost and relatively easy to access from all sides, please would you post it on here or PM me?

We're getting there.....

NCB charity central london?

messmonster · 22/11/2012 12:51

Thanks maria that looks really good. I'll make an enquiry with them.

newbrunette · 22/11/2012 23:57

Maybe you could persuade Mumsnet to offer us a room - in return for picking our brains? It seems as though their recent SN survey raised more questions than it answered, so maybe they'd be keen to meet with a ready-made focus group of SN parents, who could provide lots of first-hand insights and make the survey findings more meaningful. Just a thought....

mariammma · 23/11/2012 10:26

where is mumsnet real life base?

newbrunette · 24/11/2012 18:52

I think North London somewhere - not sure though.

pinkorkid · 24/11/2012 20:54

MNHQ is in Kentish Town NW5.

pinkorkid · 24/11/2012 20:57

Just going to report this thread to bring the question to their attention - good thinking, newbrunette

Do you have a suitable room for us at Mumsnet Towers??
