Hi notactuallyme

Don't worry about the dla thread (didn't read it myself) I am hopeless at explaining myself too and have been trying the patience of a few saints over on my statementing thread.

Good to hear ds has had a good day. We have had similar upsets over sticks in our time. Smile

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:20

Moose have some of my chocolate. I've still got some of my easter egg left and sweets from Christmas! Smile

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:22

Diet excellent milestone. Long may it continue for you.

notactuallyme · 08/06/2012 19:22

Hi moose and mama - thanks. Sometimes I get a bit nervous on heere (mumsnet, not this thread) as once somethings been misunderstood it tens not to be reigned back in again.
Sticks. How much emotional investment can they require Grin

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:23

Creatovator! You have christmas and easter chocolates left?Shock Crikey woman that's some impressive self control.

I had better take some of it off your hands, for fear of it being wasted. Wink

dietstarts, glad you've had a good week and a break from the dcs. Great news about ds's bowels too, have you been doing anything different diet/meds wise?

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:25

Not really Moose I ate all the really nice stuff quickly Wink.

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:26

Ah yes notactuallyme, sticks, conkers, acorns all extremely emotive topics in our household. Grin Just made me remember the year ds1's conker collection went mouldy in their tin - major stress!

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:28

Does that mean you are offering me nasty chocolate then creatovator? Grin

Not that it matters mind, I'll eat anything containing fat and sugar, me. Wink

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:34

No, just not the best dark chocolate or Thornton's. There's white chocolate and some cadbury's milk.

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:40

Oo I have a cheerful story with a happy ending.

Dd was on the toilet the other day (great opening line huh) when she started to yell that there was something crawling across the floor. Thinking spider I asked dh to go and put it outside but it wasn't a spider it was a ............................ huge, rare breed bumblebee (cuckoo summat bee) and it wasn't at all well.

So, I did what I always do, being stuck on the sofa 24/7 at the moment and googled. We made up a solution of honey and water for it and put it in a small tupperware type pot with holes in the lid. Apparently, if their abdominal temperature drops below 30 degrees, particularly if caught in a rainstorm, they can become very ill and can't fly until they are warmed up.

Amazingly he crawled over to the honey solution and we were able to watch his little tongue (well bee tongue thing) sucking it up. Fascinating to watch. Then the daft creature managed to fall into the honey solution and get himself all gummed up, so even when he was warm he couldn't fly. Hmm

So, we transferred him into yet another pot, with some leaves for company and left him to clean himself up overnight, a tad fearful we might have one dead bee in the morning.

But no .... this morning dh got up to find our little (well he was actually blooming huge) bee friend buzzing away ready for take-off. Took him outside and he flew straight off, right over the house.

So, the Moose household has done it's bit for the save the bees campaign and is feeling all eco and worthy this evening. Grin

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:42

Ooo I lurve white chocolate, but whenever I say that people look at me as if I have just said something really disgusting. Confused

To be fair, I also love dark and milk, cheap and expensive, posh and pedestrian choc. I'm not fussy. Grin

dietstartstmoz · 08/06/2012 19:43

Nothing different done with DS2 to help with the poo situation. We have tried things in the past to no avail. The consultant we saw thought he may have extended toddler diarrhoea and his bowels may mature in time. 7 days now of significant improvement-woo hoo.

Tooloudhere · 08/06/2012 19:46

Love the bee saving story, I tell the kids here we don't exterminate we liberate. Works well until I see a huge spider and chicken out getting Dh to do the liberating but the sentiment is there.

On the down side there is no nice food in the house, I really needed to go shopping today but well didn't. More concerning is the lack of alcohol, defineately didn't think it was Friday. The kids are all in bed and quiet think I am going to drop to new lows and hae a glass of port left over from christmas. Wish me luck.

insanityscratching · 08/06/2012 19:46

Aww moose that's lovely. Any flying insects here start ds and dd flapping so the poor thing would have met it's maker if it popped in here. Unlikely though as all windows have to be firmly shut whatever the weather.

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:49

White chocolate mice on their way Moose. Bet they have a different ending from the bee Grin!

Desperatelyseekingsupport · 08/06/2012 19:50

Evening all! Great bee story Moose. I haven't been on a Friday night thread for months but am on the cider so giving it a whirl Grin

creatovator · 08/06/2012 19:53

Hi Desperately welcome aboard

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:54

Tooloud. That happened to me earlier in the week, cue a disastrous baking session with me too ill to stand up, resulting in rather odd and very over cooked gluten free shortbread. Of course I ate them anyway - fat and sugar is fat and sugar after all.

Insanity, you could have convinced your dcs this was an unusual mouse, it was certainly big enough and there was absolutely no flying or even wing flapping involved until this morning.

All our windows were shut, he crawled through a gap around the hinge of the back porch door and made his way steadily into the kitchen via the back door that dd had left open. It's a miracle the dogs didn't eat him really.

Silly thing is my neighbour keeps bees and would have known what to do straight away, but they are on holiday. I did know enough to know that bumblebees are vital to our ecology and also an endangered species though. Turns out after googling, that this one was even rarer than your bog standard bumbler though, so am even more pleased that we managed to save him. Smile

moosemama · 08/06/2012 19:56

White chocolate mice - even better! Have they got pink insides?

Hello desperately seeking - I drank cider at a festival a couple of weeks back for the first time in about ten years. It took that long to get over the scrumpy induced hangover I got last time I indulged. Blush I honestly thought that hangover was going to kill me. Blush

Desperatelyseekingsupport · 08/06/2012 19:59

I have come home to a letter for ds to attend appointment soon with the EP and clinical psychologist together. We don't have a dx yet so I am thinking that this sounds promising. He's never had a meeting with 2 professionals at the same time.

moosemama · 08/06/2012 20:00

Dh is just off out to buy a part for his beloved vw camper. I have warned him that if he comes back with another rusty van part, but no chocolate I shall be bolting the door from the inside and he can sleep in his favourite vehicle. Grin

moosemama · 08/06/2012 20:01

That does sound promising Desperately. It was an EP and Clinical Psych working together that diagnosed ds, although he'd already been seen by several other people. They did the ADOS together to confirm the dx.

creatovator · 08/06/2012 20:02

Unfortunately not.

I've never had a cider hangover. Is it different from others?

creatovator · 08/06/2012 20:04

Desperately hope the appointment goes well. Most of our have.

Desperatelyseekingsupport · 08/06/2012 20:06

Ooh perhaps we'll get a dx at last then! Had ADOS a couple of years ago and told he did not have the triad of impairments and given a dx of 'behavioural difficulties' Hmm. battled to get a second opinion and was getting nowhere. Have now moved counties and things are finally happening. Perhaps requesting the emergency sm review has something to do with it as well as ds telling the psych that he has threatened to harm himself because of school.
