Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

So DS hates Vegepa - are there any good alternatives?

I dont think he likes the taste because I have even tried snipping them open and putting the white stuff into a drink, but he refused that too.

He is drinking the Floradix and eating his multivitamin (which is more like a jelly sweet). But I cant get him to eat these for love nor money.

Hi, I'm from Igennus (manufacturer of Vegepa) - just wanted to jump in and let you know that we created Vegepa Chewables flavoured with sweet orange oil (free from salicylates) so that parents can split the capsule for easier dosing with young children. Our new formulation (launched Jan this year) are of a paste-like consistency inside, sugar-free and sweetened with natural xylitol, and have received very positive feedback.

Voidka, I think you likely split our original Vegepa capsule? This indeed will be very fishy as it's a fish oil 'concentrate'. We are very happy to offer parents a free sample of our Vegepa Chewables to try - please email [email protected] to request yours. More info on Vegepa Chewables can be found here: igennus-hn.com/products/vegepa-chewables/
Best of luck seeking a good product for your children.

It's the "paste like consistency" that is the problem I'm afraid. I like to give DD all her supplements at once in fruit juice and the vegepa will not dissolve.

Voidka · 14/05/2012 13:30

I definitely have the chewables.

I agree with Holy. He wont eat the tablet so I have to open it up and put in his drink and because it wont dissolve he refuses to drink it.

Thanks Holy for clarifying. We find mixing the paste with yoghurt provides a better consistency - we recommend this because all omegas are better absorbed into gut cells when taken with fat. If you prefer mixing the supplements with fruit juice, the omega-3 will be better absorbed if taken with food at the same time.

Best wishes,
Mina.

Thanks the issue with that is that we need to give our children a high protein breakfast so bacon, eggs, sausages that sort of thing definitely no yoghurts as they have sugar in them and sends my DD loopy in the morning.Grin

Voidka · 17/05/2012 07:53

DS wont eat yoghurt, but thanks for clarifying :)
