Wine Wine Wine
What a day..... Had a call last night from my DF that my Grandad (95) was deteriorating. So I have spent all day with him. Exhausting. What upsets me is NOT the fact he is not far from death, but more my Sister's attitude. She won't see him, as it's too hard to see him old and frail and close to leaving us. I tried saying that he has feelings, and that a visit would be a boost for him. But no. She is resolute that she wants her memories to be the ones when he wasn't wincing with pain, struggling for breath or just looking so goddamn old!! Angry
On a more positive note, DS4 is loving his new Special School. It's wonderful to see.
We saw a C4 doco Body Shock Turtle Boy, and the surgeon from GOSH, is the same one who will be doing DD's ear reconstruction surgeries in August!! Nice to see him at work Smile
I am now off to drink more Sauvignon Blanc, plenty left for you all! Wine Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 27/04/2012 18:56

Thanks for the Birthday Thanks . They go well with my real ones. I liked the St George's Day dragon emoticon, especially for me (and Zzzzz &etc)

creatovator · 27/04/2012 19:01

Ellen Told them last year that I'm no longer self-employed but employed by a Social Enterprise. They asked me to send wage slips which I forgot. They phoned me before 9 am on Sat and started asking me all sorts of info Angry. They weren't satisfied with my answers so suspended my CA Sad Angry.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 27/04/2012 19:03

Oops, create, hope you can sort it out quickly.

creatovator · 27/04/2012 19:05

I phoned them on Mon and spoke to someone else who took pity on me said I should send my sage slips and took a note that I don't get any other income from anything else. I wouldn't have minded but the first person made me feel like a criminal!

creatovator · 27/04/2012 19:05

That should be wage slips lol.

creatovator · 27/04/2012 19:06

The wage slips went first class on Mon, so hopefully everything is fine now.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 27/04/2012 19:45

ellen, I live in London, speeding at that time of day - chance would be a fine thing Grin

moose, have a fab weekend, your boob comment made me think of that defying gravity song from wicked Grin I am most definitely in need of a pair of those!

dd3 has just signed, 'ipad now please' so I'd better hurry up then hadn't I Grin

Becaroooo · 27/04/2012 19:49

Hi all

Sorry havent read all posts but wish those of you that are having a tough time get smoe respite this coming week x

Been really shitty here Sad

Ds1 fine. Ds2 settling into pre school.

My health really failing Sad

Yesterday I actually thought I was going to pass out in the co-op! Blush Had to ask my sis to pick ds1 up from school...just darent drive Sad

Seen ortho guy...having an MRI on my back on tues (should have been today but the scanner broke!) Saw gynae too and had 2 scans...going back to see him on weds..busy week next week!

Feel utterly, utterly weak, ill and fed up. Iron meds arent working yet so cant even do simple things like hoover as I get too breathless! Its ridiculous!

On a lighter note...ds1 had a friend over twice this week, went to another friends house for tea and my nephew came over last night Smile He is doing really well at school and is even considering...wait for it!...hot dinners at school next week!!! Shock

Have a good weekend everyone...I shall be mostly sitting on the sofa and feeling weak Sad

creatovator · 27/04/2012 19:57

Beca sorry you're still feeling bad. Sending prayers. Can you find things to laugh at. I found that helped when I was at my worst last year. Also feel good movies. Got all the Christmas ones out even though it wasn't the season Grin.
Hope you feel better soon and the meds start working.

Becaroooo · 27/04/2012 20:03

Thats almost the worst thing creator...I am not like myself atm at all Sad I am clean out of patience, sense of humour and am not nice to be around.

Might get a film on filmflex tonight...something with a hunky man in it???....

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 27/04/2012 20:11

becs, sorry to hear you're feeling crap, you need to borrow zzzzzs dh, very like Johnny Depp apparently Grin

moosemama · 27/04/2012 20:12

Am back briefly, but no time to read the whole thread back.

Beca sorry you are so poorly. Don't start not liking yourself, either, you are a lovely person, you simply do not have the strength at the moment to cope with other people.

Anaemia is the pits, I described it as feeling like the living dead when I had it. Sad Hope the iron pills kick in soon and you start to feel better. Have they checked that you are actually able to absorb the iron? If you're not absorbing it, they can give you all the pills they like, but you're not going to feel any better.

It does sound like you are doing too much, with all these children coming over to play, doing the housework, trips to the co-op etc. You need to just rest, nothing else. Is there anyone you can ask for some help? I prescrible total bed rest with a nice big box of chocolates on hand, along with a really good dvd box set.

creatovator · 27/04/2012 20:17

I second that prescription Moose. Plus check out this link and other ones by her. I nearly wet myself laughing and I don't laugh out loud easily.

FlyingFig · 27/04/2012 20:31

Hello, I bring Wine for all those that need it, thought I'd pop in and say hello!

I'm sorry to hear about your granddad Sally, my sister sounds like yours in that she can't cope with illness or anything remotely medical; her teenage DD is pregnant (long story!) and I was the one that had to take my niece to the GP initially as she couldn't 'face it', deary me!

I went to collect DS from school today and was met with a sobbing, retching little boy that had obviously been in trouble. He had been waiting in the line to finish school, weighed down with bags and had shouted out 'Ow, my fucking arm' Shock. So for tonight, I need plenty of Wine as it's been a right old roller-coaster of a day.

creatovator · 27/04/2012 21:08

Hi Flying. Most folk seem to have disappeared at the mo. Hope the wine is helping and tomorrow is better.

FlyingFig · 27/04/2012 21:17

Tomorrow will be a new day I'm sure; different challenges, same shit! Grin

Wine is helping soften the edges Smile

notactuallyme · 27/04/2012 21:47

Hi star sorry friend came round to drink wine. He is 9. I am ok with stuff, as sen is sort of my professional job, just think dh would benefit from someone other then me to listen to! Nas courses not running locally at the month.

LollipopViolet · 27/04/2012 23:45

Whew, just in time before it becomes Saturday morning.

My granddad is on the verge of being Type 2 diabetic, which has scared me silly because once again I'm battling my own weight :(

I have a Type 1 diabetic boyfriend, so all of this is a real kick up the behind.

Uni's stressful, as ever, and I'm going to be shooting a film on a very special day :( (well it is to me, it'll be 6 months with DBF). But, we're going on a day trip to Blackpool for his birthday on the Sunday of that week :)

He's currently undergoing a course of some kind of laser treatment on his eyes - hopefully it works so he'll be able to drive, or get his fork lift licence and find some work :)

Me, I'm still getting knockbacks because I can't drive and won't ever be able to :(

Becaroooo · 28/04/2012 07:26

Thank you guys.

Yes, moose feeling like the "living dead" is exactly how I would describe myself atm Sad

lolli Dont know if you already know this, but my bro is out of work atm and he re-did his forklift truck licsence via the job centre (he also did an english and maths certificate) and it only cost him £70 instead of over £500!

sally I am very sorry about your grandad. Be kind to yourself (and your sis)

x

TheLightPassenger · 28/04/2012 08:11

morning all! v sorry so many of you ladies have been having a tough week. I agree bec with Moose, about needing it looking into further about why iron tablets aren't helping.

sally - very sorry to hear about your grandad.

Lollipop - re:exercise/worrying about vulnerability to type 2 diabetes - if you google Horizon - the Truth about Exercise, you will see a proper explanation. But it seems to be medically established that 3 X20 seconds burst of intense exercise (the program showed the guy doing it on an exercise bike) during a period of ordinary exercise is meant to work wonders for your insulin sensitivity (i.e for helping warding off type 2).

I don't drive either for a variety of reasons. It wouldn't be absolutely impossible for me, but I couldn't really cope psychologically. I've been lucky that my jobs haven't demanded a licence, but I appreciate it's more difficult in your line of expertise.

LollipopViolet · 28/04/2012 08:16

Becaroooo, he's tried that, they've refused him funding, stating the fact he's 26, and they're focussing on the under 25's with their funding apparently Hmm

Thanks for the advice re: diet. If I had the money I'd try WW or SW. Might see if my family will help me out, it's not much per week and it'd be better than seeing me go down the same route, surely? Will attempt to have a conversation about it later, although it's usually met with resistance from mum as she thinks it's "public humiliation".

We shall see :)

TheLightPassenger · 28/04/2012 08:19

Lollipop - the problem with WW is that if you don't go every week they still charge you! so if your life/work is irregular it works out badly. Unless you are keen to meet other dieters, I would do it the cut price way - either talk to people online, MN and other forums have diet talk boards to find out details of how the plans work - or get a voucher for joining free, go along, spend a few quid on their diet books, and just do it at home yourself.

LollipopViolet · 28/04/2012 08:26

Hmmm, that sounds like a better plan - and it means I can weigh myself before I eat anything, unlike at their meetings.

Right off to get breakfast sorted, then do uni work - yay for the weekend! Hmm
