Ds took a big step today. He was watching a video with a cat and dog puppet which he's watched heaps of times. He had a dishcloth in his hand (a favourite 'toy' ) and when I came back into the room he had draped it across his head with the sides hanging down and said "I'm being a dog" and even shook his head from side to side so his 'ears' wiggled! It looked so funny and he realised it himself. dh and I were amazed that he was able to know what he looked like from another person's point of view

lol thomcatSmile dh has to go to work that early sometimes and i just couldnt get back to sleep - have been so knackered today though!

Gumdrop that is lovelySmile

my dd attempted to say ' to infinity and beyond today!', it was very entertainingGrin

Fio - phew - was a bit worried about you being up at that time. You must be knackered
However having your dd running around the house pretending to be Buzz Lightyear must give you something to smile about

I just phoned my mum to see how Lottie was and all I could hear in the background was her laughing really loudly! She was hiding her dolls under the sofa for my sister to find and thought the whole thing hysterical apparently!

awww sweetSmile little buzz is reading me a 'speech' now - have no idea what she is rattling on about!

Thomcat · 29/01/2004 15:42

Ohhh, wish I was at home being read to by my poppet, not that she can really talk let alone read but you know what I mean! Have a lovely rest of the day together

ds has started drawing. He went from doing circles with lines linking them to a bus with people inside in a week! I am just staggered at his progress. The people even had fingers and the bus had a radiator grill at the front. Saw the psychologist on Tue regarding his schooling options and she thinks he had all the pieces in his mind but just needed to work out how to put them together.

He also asked me "what is the name of that little girl? about the sister of one of the children who goes to nursery. I was amazed that he showed an interest. He is talking more about abstract things now.

Good news also is that he can go to mainstream school next year although I have a choice of a primary with special needs unit attached or just our local primary. The local primary will only have 12 children in the whole class (of which 4 or 5 will be primary 1) and he will get auxilliary supoort. Don't need to decide yet and he can move from one to another if necessary

Anyway feeling quite positive about his recent progress. Just need to get him to eat properly (another tomato soup incident earlier) - decided to paint the table with it using his fingers .

great news eulaliaSmile hope you find the school thats right for him. My dd starts school in september too, I dont know where the time has gone....

Eulalia · 27/02/2004 22:44

Ds said "I love you" today quite unprompted - the first time ever !! He has said it before but only if I say it first.

I know he has always shown love/affection before but it was still lovely to hear it in actual words

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes.

DH has just called me. He's just been to DS1's Reception class assembly. DS1 was dressed up as a doctor! With two other children, he had to say "Welcome to our class assembly". Then he and another little girl who was dressed up as a nurse had to say what they were dressed as and why - and DS1 said his bit really well and clearly!

Can't believe it. This is the boy who was mysteriously excluded from his nursery Christmas play when he was three.

How wonderful Dino! It sounds soooooo sweet. Have a lovely, happy weekend

tigermoth · 12/03/2004 21:58

dinosaur, that is lovely news. How many 4 year olds will speak nicely in front of the whole class in assembly when they are told to - not many I bet! well done your son. And how horrible that he was excluded from the nursery play when he was three. Glad you now have a good memory like this to pave over the bad one.

dinosaur · 15/03/2004 10:35

Thanks everyone!

Tigermoth, I think that DS1 completely lacks "self-consciousness" - I think it may be another aspect of not really understanding empathy - but it sort of works to his advantage in the setting of Reception class because he loves speaking up - and has a very loud voice!

fio2 · 15/03/2004 10:36

lovely dino, sorry I missed this!!!Smile

Thomcat · 15/03/2004 11:15

Eulalia · 15/03/2004 21:23

wow I am impressed and envious too - ds is still very good at telling people off at the moment.
