Ds took a big step today. He was watching a video with a cat and dog puppet which he's watched heaps of times. He had a dishcloth in his hand (a favourite 'toy' ) and when I came back into the room he had draped it across his head with the sides hanging down and said "I'm being a dog" and even shook his head from side to side so his 'ears' wiggled! It looked so funny and he realised it himself. dh and I were amazed that he was able to know what he looked like from another person's point of view

aww that's lovely fio2.

Caroline5 · 11/12/2003 20:47

Brilliant news, fio - you must be so chuffed, esp about the talking!

Jimjams · 15/12/2003 10:07

don't want to speak too soon, but ds1 appears to be dry at night (3 nights in a row now). This is good as the last 4 weeks he was waking, weeing and taking his nappy off as he weed- result- lots and lots of washing.......

fio2 · 15/12/2003 10:11

brill jimjams, lets hope he gives your washing machine a break nowSmile

lol dinosaur. What you need to do is go and spend a fortune on 2 bed sheets that hold 4 litres of wee (!!!) then not get your money's worth (they take up the entire washing machine so I'll be pleased to see the back of them

That's brilliant news JimJams

And Fio - missed the thread about your daughters school play - great news.

While I'm on here may as well take the opportunity to tell you that Lottie made us prod about 75 times over the weekend!
Once was because we took her to see Santa and she was so lovley. She wanted to stroke his face and she was pointing out things all over his grott o saying 'ohh' all the time and when he gave her a gift and I said 'say thankyou' she did the sign, sort of said 'bah boo' and blew him a kiss!! When we got up to leave she stretched out her arms to him to give him a hug! Just made me melt!

Also this morning as DP got out of car at the station she sad 'by bye daddy' - she linked her first words and it was at the right time, etc, ie she didn't just say it when playing with her crayons or something.

Basically she's been doing things all weekend that have made DP and I nudge each other and say 'did you see that / did you hear that' and so on.

She's 2 on Wednesday and she's just so wonderful!!!

fio2 · 15/12/2003 11:14

Lovely Thomcat and give her a big birthday hug from me on wednesdaySmile

Blu · 16/12/2003 14:14

FANTASTIC, Jimjams, that sounds like a huge development. Brilliant.
And Lottie, too....must be something in the air. Aren't those "Did you see that?" moments gorgeous?

Love hearing the good news.

Jimjams · 16/12/2003 20:32

Big day today.

DS1 had his school play. he was cued in a the wrong time- so came in in a different place- but to be honest it was better as he would have really stood out in the "real" piece. He was totally unfazed by the 150 or so adults present and had a good look at the ceiling. We were very proud. he even wore his costume! The lovely thing was all the teachers and TA's seemed really happy that he was taking part (albeit breifly!). Nursery's turn tomorrow.

Also we have had a bit of a bed swop. He now has a cabin bed- and is so pleased with it. he's shreiking away upstairs now.

FairyLou · 16/12/2003 20:40

Jimjams, that's lovely. I can just picture him!

Ds2 was very well behaved through the nativity that ds1 was performing in today.

santafio2 · 17/12/2003 07:45

thats lovely jimjams I bet us mothers get more nervous about the school play than our children! Hope it goes well today

santafio2 · 17/12/2003 07:52

forgot to say DOORMATS ds2 had his school play yesterday but I think she is too shy to post on here so :

WELL DONE DOORMATS DS2

she will tell me off for this!

jinglesaur · 17/12/2003 11:12

Well done doormat's ds, Jimjams ds, Lou's ds2, Lottie and Fio2's dd!

My DS1's turn tomorrow...oo-er! Wish us luck!

eidsvold · 17/12/2003 18:53

well done juniors.... it sounds like a great week all round.

Jimjams · 17/12/2003 20:55

good luck jingle. DS1 had his nursery play today- as a star. He was great. Stood up in the right place. Spotted dh and said daddy. And wow- at the end they went round in a circle and he held a little girl's hand!!!!!!!!!! (and an adults- this is normal- but holding children's hands is new!)

Well done doormat!

Jimjambells · 17/12/2003 21:47

Should mention ds2- even though he's not SN. He's gone into a big bed today for the first time. Not proud as such but he does look cute and very tiny!

Thanx fio
you are an angel
Congratulations to all your little ones, I can imagine they were all starsof the show.

Eulalia · 18/12/2003 19:22

Not been on MN properly in ages so just catching up. It is lovely to read these posts.

Thomcat - I hope your dd had a great birthday.

jimjams - your ds has done so well with the school play. Unfortuantely my ds didn't perform at the nursery sing-a-long, he nearly got to the front but froze in the aisle. Strange thing is he was OK at Playgroup last year. Seems to be worse in some ways with new situations.

Also going to add a proud for dd who has just turned 20 months ... was getting her ready for bed last night and she was in her vest. She ran off and dug the potty out from under the sink, played around with it for awhile and then did a pee in it! All totally unprompted. Trouble is she tends to squat with her feet inside the potty!

wow @ your dd eulalia!

ds2 didn't stay in bed- he had a raging temp in the middle of the night so came in with me. Hopefully he'll last the night in there tonight!

Very strange. DS1 has just initiated 2 games of peek a boo with me. Perfect eye contact as well.

eidsvold · 19/12/2003 18:42

well done to your two jimjams... and Eulalia

I have a little one - nothing amzingly significant.. today was last day at school before Christmas and a half day for the kids. I went and picked up dd and bought her back for the 'party' that we have as a staff.... it can drag on a bit with headmasters making speeches etc.

Well dd slept for a while as she had not had a sleep and then sat on a chair beside me smiling and waving to anyone that looked at her. She then sat happily looking around at all the teachers - this for over two hours

What was the best part - everyone telling me how well behaved she was and how beautiful etc she was.....

one proud mama here...

eidsvold · 27/12/2003 17:18

we have had two more proud moments here - dd is rolling over quite happily - oh remember having to try and encourage her as part of her physio and how the little cheeky monkey would muster all her strength to work against me.

Today - she loves you blowing on her face especially if the blow the hair our of her eyes - dh and I were blowing on her face today and she blew back... albeit more like you do when you are trying to blow your own hair out of your eyes but she did it and was copying us.....

she was very pleased with herself and seems to be blowing all the time..... although I think the air goes up her nose....

However we think we have a breakthrough with her wanting to copy us......

we have been trying to get her to attempt drinking from a cup to no avail although she would copy when i was drinking whilst her dad held a cup to her lips.... we might be on to something we hope........

Hope you all had a wonderful christmas too.....
