...hello everyone!

Hope you are all surviving the hols so far! Its been a bit mixed here in that the weather has been rubbish and I feel rubbish so we havent done much.

So...went to a craft session at church this morning. Now, I dont normally bother (obv!) but I thought "No! Ds2 likes craft and I need to get out of the damn house!" So off we went.

Well.

Ds1 met up with a couple of kids from his class and I didnt see him again!!!! Shock For nearly 2 hours! He made a minature garden of Gethsemane, a basket, a hat, did some colouring, and made a choc easter nest!!! Shock

This...from a child who wouldnt go farther then 2 feet from me 6 months ago Smile Ds2 was a little monkey but he was pretty tired.

He is having a friend over on Tues and going to another friends house on weds!! So...fingers crossed Smile

I hope you all have a peaceful and blessed easter x

Ellen - It was the best choice in the end. But so ridiculous. When we did meet him, he told me that he had been forbidden to meet us by the Headteacher. WTF! Not exactly inclusive!! Which I reiterated in no uncertain terms in an email to him, the HT and the LA..... Angry

Ellen, Sally, you're making me even more about visiting secondary schools. I'm dreading having to face something like that, because I'm crap face to face. I can construct a mean report and write a killer letter, but turn to mush when actually confronted. Blush

It makes me so Sad and Angry that we all have to go through this. All schools should be inclusive, all schools should do whatever is necessary to support all children and if they don't, they should be hauled over the coals and face consequences. Angry

I am lying here feeling decidedly sick, a bit like an overfed puppy, after stuffing a rather large Thorntons egg - plus contents. Dh has just started cooking a veggie roast dinner as well. Not sure I'm going to be able to fit it in. Blush [porky pig emoticon]

Moose. I go "all public school" when cross. Makes my DH cringe as I sound very posh and uppity. Agree with the uppity bit! Blush
Anyway. You must arrange your visits this coming term with your DC if possible. You will get a better feeling if it's more of a one to one.
I have to say that the other two Secondary Schools let us go round twice, both times with their SENCO. We went on our own first, and then took the twins. It was interesting to see what their take on big school was.
Moose. You will be fine. You will know which school is the right fit for you all. Smile

The good schools were very good, moose. Don't worry, the nice SENCos were really good, very supportive and obviously knew their stuff. There are advantages with scale. Secondaries can be much better than primaries and DC on the spectrum can thrive on the structure and order of timetables etc. Much less last minute changes than in primary. And the 'reluctant' schools become very obvious.

Thanks Sally and Ellen. I know I'm being overly anxious about it, but can't seem to help it at the moment. I think I'm concerned about the lack of choice. I need to see the local school first, as that's the one that's the unknown quanity with the new academy status and recently appointed HT etc.

Can't really book until his statement is finalised though, as I want to be able to talk confidently about what they will need to provide.
