I usually reply with this one (nicked from Pagwatch):

"Yes! DS can fly!"

Apparently my son (4) does have one. He brought home a swimming certificate with a photograph of a fish as the background, listing his achievements.

I asked him to show DH and tell him what it was for.

"It is because I can turn into a Puffer-fish!", he said.

Ds can draw incredible mazes.

I suspect he can probably fly too.

Mazes sound cool.

DS is probably the most stubborn focussed person I know. He is almost superhuman in that respect.

Our GP told us not to worry that he never sleeps because Mrs Thatcher famously didn't either. This was supposed to make us feel better Hmm

He could totally take Margaret Thatcher in a clash of wills.

oh yes, DD is a world-famous trapeze and high-wire artist

despite the fact i have to hold her hand as she walks on the kerbs of raised grass verges

and she's only 4.9yrs Smile

DS2 knew every birthday in the class including the teacher's when he was 6. That actually impressed his friends. But apart from that, he can become invisible when he hides in his bedroom to watch YouTube videos .

signandsmile · 14/03/2012 14:52

DS could work for the Post office.... at the moment he is savouring everyones postcodes, they are a thing of joy to him, Hmm Grin

moosemama · 14/03/2012 14:54

My ds can tell the future.

If he decides predicts in the morning that he's going to have a bad day - its an absolute given that he will have a bad day - astounding! Shock

Mind you ds2 told me last week that he has the super-power of 'reverse prediction'. Apparently, whatever he thinks is going to happen, the opposite always does. Now there's a useful life-skill if ever I heard one. Grin

schobe · 14/03/2012 15:54

DS is a great nose blower.

Yes, I think we have a winner.

intothewest · 14/03/2012 15:58

DS is a magician...really....he can make jaffa cakes and flapjacks disappear !.......................

oh and of course he can fly too Grin

auntevil · 14/03/2012 17:00

DS1 is memory man - he is 9 and can remember who gave him which present from every birthday from 2, everyplace we've been to, most random conversations and amazingly useless facts.
He can pick and eat the contents of his nasal passages with only the use of his tongue.
He took flying off his repertoire - and replaced it with the nasal triumph act Grin

coff33pot · 14/03/2012 17:13

DS is an avid collector of broken bits of plastic. He has an array of poundshop guns minus triggers, scopes, barrel bits, soldiers without legs. He keeps them in his "treasure box" at the back of his cupboard so I cant throw them away Grin

Another of his present discussions is film/game rankings PG, 12, 15 etc and he rates his "games" he plays accordingly so perhaps future film director in the making Grin

Oh and flying...............

moosemama · 14/03/2012 17:25

Coff33, your ds could have a grand old discussion with my ds1 about film and game guidance rankings. Its one of ds1's specialist subjects. Grin

He is currently horrified that one of his classmates is really into Assassin's Creed, because they are only 9 and the age ratings are 15 and 16.

He's had to give up flying - kept hitting his head on the ceiling. Wink

Actually, ds2 does have a kind of super-power. He is a lucid dreamer, which means he can control his dreams and what happens in them, as well as waking himself up at will. So, say he was having a dream about a scary monster - he can just turn the monster into a giant cake or something! Grin He's been able to do it since he was tiny - dh is particularly jealous of this skill, as its something he's always wanted to be able to do.

coff33pot · 14/03/2012 17:33

moose I too would like your DS2s skill!

Re rankings DS isnt horrified about who watches what unless its not him! I just had to have an indepth convo on why he couldnt watch lord of the rings as it was a PG and he has watched PG before. He was unhappy so another discussion that it stands for parental guidand and as mummy has seen it her advice is it is a bit scary for a 6yr old.

I got to admit though I am getting so used to it when DS is doing something or playing to heavy handed etc instead of saying to calm it I occasionally shout out 18!!! 18!!! 18!!! Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 14/03/2012 17:35

My DD is very good at taking her nappy off and pooing on the floor

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/03/2012 18:04

Now that is a special talent, Fanjo. Grin

moosemama · 14/03/2012 18:07

Coff33, lol at shouting 18! Grin

I think my ds thinks he's the film/game ratings police. Hmm

OctonautsOnRepeat · 14/03/2012 18:41

DS1 can survive on 4 hours sleep per night. I think that counts. Definitely makes me feel less than superhuman.

SallyBear · 14/03/2012 18:49

My DS1's talent is for being the messiest boy alive as well as having a spectacular collection of old tat!!
Seriously though, he can walk along a street and spot a stone on the ground that is actually a fossil. This has happened so many times, that I've stopped marvelling and started putting the fossils around plants in the garden!

ouryve · 14/03/2012 19:26

DS1's special talent is out-ranting Victor meldrew. He can keep it up for hours.

DS2 can make everything else fly - onto the floor.

dontrememberme · 14/03/2012 19:55

now talents iscovered to date other than he is the most handsome child in the world, so he could win in a gorgeousness competition.... and i'm not biased honestly!

WetAugust · 14/03/2012 19:57

I've got a ridiculous memory for detail. I can remember the number plate of every car I've owned, post codes for friends and family, my National Insurance no.....

I went on a course at work once. The subject was Communications. To try to prove that people can be overloaded by too much information the tutor rambled off this long story full of facts, names , numbers etc and then asked chose someone (me) to repeat what she'd said.

Unfortunately for her I could rememeber almost all of the information. Blush Very embarrasing.

I also think that I have a photographic memory (as does DS1). Great for exams when you can picture your crib notes and read them in your mind.

Jerbil · 14/03/2012 20:01

the ability to watch TV upside down until DS1 has turned purple and even then has to be told to sit the right way up!

the ability to destroy the front room with sellotape at 430 in the morning, and yes the sleep thing as mentioned above.

just his lateral thinking - amazing :-)

sayjay · 14/03/2012 23:22

DS can dig a ginormous hole in my back garden
Think he's heading for Oz...

r3dh3d · 14/03/2012 23:27

Does crapping in the bath count?

Cos DD1 is a potential Olympic medallist.
