Ds1 however, has been a star Smile He has started some vision therapy to help his tracking an convergence issues and is doing well.

AND....duh duh duh!!!!!.....

He also got "star writer of the week" at assembly today! This, from a boy who couldnt write a sentance this time last year!!!! Smile

Am so proud! Smile

Nope decided on the second glass - you probably think I'm a looney but I'd love to be in your position my ds7 and starting to socialise a night out with uni friends seems like an entire solar system away for him.
Dd is 1yr old today hence the wind as I reminisce being wrapped around a gas n air bottle this time last year Grin

WetAugust · 10/03/2012 00:50

Happy Birthday Frizzkitten!

Don't worry, when DS was aged 17 tomight's little adventure would have been in the realms of fantasy for me.

But they do get there in the end - just more slowly than most Grin

frizzcat · 10/03/2012 00:55

I know, but don't you wish there was a fast forward button!! Anymore text through? Or maybe he's hit the dance floor

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/03/2012 00:57

Very late to the party. I've had a night out at a friend's. 7 mums of SN boys of very differing abilities, all turning 13. We all met at a special school for early years. Will be friends for life, I think. Smile

Happy birthday Frizzkitten! Very impressed with your DS's night out. My youngest niece is 23, Wet. She went to SBL, wonder if she knows your DS? Spooky.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 10/03/2012 01:01

Hi Wet. Yes I'm still up. I would like to think I'll get to bed by 3am, but I'm not banking on it. OCD rituals are pretty awful at the moment and worse at the weekend because he doesn't have the incentive of school next day.

Great that your Ds is socialising even if it does mean a dry late night for you.

Some messages for people presumably now in bed to get in the morning.
Beca Well done to Ds for his writing award. Thats good progress in a year.

Coff. Spiked their hair with spray on freeze pain away! That's not something you get to say every day. (that sentence has become something of a catchphrase in our house)

Lisa DLA aarg! Missed my deadline the first time on recent renewal because I kept putting it off so I feel for you.

Imogen sorry you've encountered the useless type of psch.

Moose Doctors and people skills (or lack thereof)!!!
re Ds1 it is strange isn't it how they can be totally messed up in one area and making hugh progress in others. My Ds is often like that.

Chundle sounds really tough for you. Hugs.

Things much the same here but Ds got the results of GCSE modules in biology, chemistry and physics he did earlier this term. He got three As and only a few marks off A*. I was really pleased. He does have an aptitude for science but when you consider the difficulties he has getting things down on paper due to his AS, dyslexia and hypermobile joints, that he did the exams when severely sleep deprived due to his OCD rituals and that in the last 5 academic years he has only had onewhen he was in school full time for the whole year, I think it is quite an achievement.

frizzcat · 10/03/2012 01:02

Hey Ellen how are you doing?

frizzcat · 10/03/2012 01:04

Nohau - that's amazing you must be so proud of ds

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/03/2012 01:04

NoHaudin, that sounds like fantastic results. Well done your DS, I hope you can find a suitable way to celebrate. Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/03/2012 01:06

Hi Frizz. Making the most of my child-free weekends. Had one too many Wine and must get off to bed soon.

frizzcat · 10/03/2012 01:20

No such thing as one too many when you are dc free! Grin

WetAugust · 10/03/2012 09:42

Ellen............Hope your head isnt thumping too much today after your night out! Sounds like it was fun though!

Wet..........How did your DS night go in the end? or are you still sleeping LOL x

Ineedalife · 10/03/2012 14:23

Wow nohaudin Amazing results from your Ds, good for himGrin.

I missed Friday night but wanted to say that Dd3 got pupil of the week this week for being a "fantastic friend". So proud of her, she has been helping her friend who is on crutches.Smile.

We also went out with the support group this morning, not going to say where cos I will out myself but she had a good time and did something she has never done before.Grin

moosemama · 10/03/2012 14:33

Afternoon all. Gosh you were burning the midnight oil last night.

Nohaudin, huge congratulations to your ds on his fantastic results - fantastic by anyone's standards even without all the barriers he's had to overcome. You need a massive proud mum emoticon!

Beca, your Mum sounds pretty toxic. I am so sorry. We have lots of issues with the ILs so they never babysit or help out. Mum is pretty much all the support we have and she's not in the best of health, so often can't help even if she wants to. I am very lucky to have her - I really wish I could lend her to you next week. Sad

I am off out tonight, so dcs going to Mums overnight - ds1 has been winding himself up about it, but we've made it as easy on him as we can (have even cooked his favourite meal for dinner tonight to send with him) and we just have to trust its going to be ok. Dd has also decided to start cooking some sort of bug - possibly her very first UTI - which is perfect timing. Hmm

Just done a mahoosive interval training workout in a vain attempt to mitigate all the calories from booze and scoffs I'm going to ingest tonight! Grin I fully intend to try my hardest to enjoy just one evening without worrying about dcs, dogs, diets or exercise. (Of course you all know I won't manage it and will worry myself stoopid about the dcs, but hey I'm going to try my best.)

Only downside is its fancy dress - with a Sci-Fi theme. Hmm I have been cunning and come up with a character from Farscape that just wears black combats, boots, a waistcoat, utility belt and of course carries a big gun. Fortunately this character has my colouring and hair, so I can just about get away with it - I think - I hope.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. Smile

moosemama · 10/03/2012 14:36

Cross posted in the time I took to type my post Ineed.

Well done your dd on being star of the week and trying something new as well! Grin

Its lovely to hear lots of stories of awards being won and dcs making progress this weekend.

Ineedalife · 10/03/2012 15:05

Hope you have fun moose and your Ds copes with staying with your mum.

Dd3 has only been to my mums once and says she is never going again. LOL.

Cant say I blame her really GrinGrin

Ineedalife · 10/03/2012 15:09

I forgot to say, I smiled when Dd3 came home with the certificate because on parents eve the SENCO told me they are going to do some work with her to try to teach her to maintain friendships.

Maybe the certifcate is the sweetenerSmile.

Mind you I have to say she has made some really lovely friends at this school, all of them have SN's of some kind and they are all really accepting of each other. It is the NT ones we have trouble withGrin.

coff33pot · 10/03/2012 17:55

ooh I like this lots of proud mummy moments have been happening! Well done to your DD Ineed Grin

Have fun tonite moose and enjoy kiddie freeeeeeeeeeeeeedom Grin maybe you should dress up as braveheart Grin

Kids here have had a good day DH took DS and DD roller skating again. Bought some earplugs for DS this time as the music is so loud and so that overwhelms him a bit funny that he likes to up the TV though LOL

Sad night tonite for me and eldest DD. Her friend past away with cancer at only 22 and missed her babys birthday by 4 weeks :( All her friends are beside themselves and I have had a housefull this week seeing as from school age they all stayed overnights here during fall outs with mums (as you do when you are young :)) and all the other teenage issues, I had adopted quite a few lol and when the "I dont want to go school" came out they were forced to DHs kind tyriad of "well if you dont go and take your exams best learn a simple line then............DO YOU WANT CHIPS WITH THAT because you wont get that special job you want" :) tbh this has scared me and made me hug mine tighter this week.

We are all going to meet tonight and set off over 100 lanterns in her name with memories on so it is going to be an emotional night I think.

On the up side DH bum is no longer cold due to sitting on the cold freeze pain away that was on the loo seat LOL and the last of the shave gel has been scrubbed out of DS hair Grin

Have a great night all xxx

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/03/2012 18:07

Coff33, Sad brings everything into perspective.

Well done Ineedalife's DD3. See, empathy can be taught.

Have a great night out, moose. I've been invited out for a drink and curry this evening, trouble is I had a curry last night. Oh well, garlic is good. Grin

Ineedalife · 10/03/2012 18:18

That is really Sad coff, I hope your lanterns look amazing. Sad

Am loving your DH's DO YOU WANT CHIPS WITH THAT, we say DO YOU WANT TO SWIPE BAR CODES Grin

Ineedalife · 10/03/2012 18:24

I think you are right ellen to a degree. I think Dd3 has been taught to understand that everyone is different and that just because someone uses a walker/wheelchair doesn't mean that they can't play with her and be her friend.

She has been really fortunate to have mixed with Dc's with various Sn's all her life.

She hasn't yet been taught how to understand when Dc's want to play her games in a different way or to accept that another person might occasionally be rightGrin

NoHaudinMaWheest · 10/03/2012 18:37

Moose have a great night out. Your mum sounds great - I'm sure the dcs will be fine with her. Don't worry - enjoy!

Coff how very sad for you and your dd.

Ineed well done to your dd. She'll get there on accepting others' ways. DS at 15 is much better, not totally accepting, but much better. It just happened gradually though I think being attached to a support unit for students with physical disabilities helped.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/03/2012 18:40

Nohaudin, I hope you have some suitable celebration planned. We're all so impressed with your DS. Smile

NoHaudinMaWheest · 10/03/2012 21:01

Thanks for the congratulations all. I was almost as impressed with the way he told me. He came in and said " You know those science exams? We got the results today. I think I might have retake them. " My heart sank, but I was getting my "you're only yr 10, you can do them again" speil ready when he said that he had got As. So he managed teasing humour as well.
