....bit early but planning an early night tonight...am knackered after half term! Smile

Mixed week this week...

Ds1 had a hospital appt and had to have a blood test - he was v brave and didnt cry.

My aunt came round yesterday...she hasnt seen the new house and hasnt seen the boys for about a year Blush It was really eye opening seeing ds1 through her eyes...I could tell she thought his prancing was odd and his constant questions/info/repitition about dinosaurs...sigh. Just brings it home sometimes...Sad

Ds2 is being 3 so a bit of a handful Grin

Just parents evening to look forward to now.....Hmm

Also, ds2 has had his appt through for his booster jabs on the same day as parents evening...thats going to be a fun day Sad

He will only be 3.5...I thought it would be next spring he would have them???....

Have a good weekend everyone x

Evening Beca

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow :)

had a huge powercut yesterday - from 1 to 9:30! So I get home from work and take kids to McDonalds. DS2 is being his normal self while walking there (running ahead, singing, making noises - all pretty fine ) DS1 is getting very stressed by DS2s 'embarassing behaviour' - again all normal in the indigo house.

But what freaked me out a bit was how stressed DD was getting by DS2s behaviour :(. Is this just 'learnt' behaviour from DS1?

Not done nearly enough work with the kids this holidays - grrrr

started job hunting in earnest. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Ineedalife · 17/02/2012 17:34

Busy week here, Dd3 has been very sociable and we have a coupe of nice trips out with friends.

She has finally recovered from her virus.

I am off out tonight, a rare occurance for me.

Hope everyone has a good weekendSmile

signandsmile · 17/02/2012 18:05

Hi all! needa have a lovely night out Envy. Indigo... you get to meet up... double Envy. Wink early night for me too [becca].

I am knackered, work has been head less chook for the last 3 weeks, but it is getting quieter from now on... (Hmm)

I have been preparing the house for the laminate floor, this time next week all will be done, Yay!!! Grin Grin

dh is away for a couple of nights, (which is nice and quiet) Blush I mean I get more done if I don't have to work round him too,,,, double Blush

but ds has been quite physically rough today, and not able to manage getting cross, he gets very upset once he has been cross, but can't seem to rein it in.... (I can see wer are gonna have to do some work on this,,,)

right tea is ready, back later...

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/02/2012 18:07

I'm out tonight after the week from hell. I think I deserve it.

My mum is stable in hospital but very confused. Not sure if she'll be able to go back to living in her house. Sad

Saw the solicitor today and think I'm going to have to manage on a lot less than I was hoping.

Boys with dickhead this weekend, in fact since yesterday evening, and I still hate it.

But, out for a curry tonight with old friends so I can start on the Wine and I've lost 2 1/2 stone since dickhead left and bought a pair of size 12 jeans today. (Think they must be a weird size cos I'm still a size 16 for skirts!)

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 17/02/2012 18:11

Sorry, that was a bit me, me, me. Blush

Glad you have survived half term, Beca.
What's happening on the job front, Indigo? Didn't realise you were job hunting. And where is your meet up?
Thank goodness virus is extinct, Ineed, see you out tonight?
Is your DS stuggling with half term out of routineness, sign?

signandsmile · 17/02/2012 18:18

hi ellen enjoyt the night out, sorry mum not doing as well as hoped... think ds has been knocked by the changes, alsdo i have had to be away for work for a few nights over the last few weeks, so that's different for him too... poor lad Sad

Hi All,

Beca sorry it's' been a bit stressful for you.

Indigo Hope you find a job soon.

Ineed have a good night.

Sign Yeh for new floors.

Ellen sorry it's been a tough week, but enjoy your curry and well done for the weight loss.

A good week here. DCs were generally well behaved when out at 2 different country parks. DH gave me breakfast in bed for Valentines Day with most things cut into heart shapes Grin.

DS is currently into bodily noises and smells. He wanted to try baked beans again which he's not had for years. I saw an opportunity to increase his range of foods by explaining which ones give the most, "parp power" and now he's going to try lots of healthy green veg Grin Grin.

I'm off out shopping on my own for me now.

creatovator · 17/02/2012 18:28

Imogen xposted. Scottish Autism are great. Really hope you get something positive as a result.

SallyBear · 17/02/2012 18:32

@creatovator. ROFLMAO at your foods that make you toot story. Priceless!

I am new to MN this week, and I have to say that everyone I have "conversed" with has been hugely welcoming and helpful.
I have to confess to reading the Daily Mash www.thedailymash.co.uk/ which is horribly non PC and makes me laugh especially if I have been having a trying day with DS3's autism. I have 4 kids twins (one of each) and two more boys. So a busy life anyway. Have a good weekend, and if you want to chuckle please check out the Daily Mash. X

HolyCalamityJane · 17/02/2012 18:39

Evening All,

A pretty good week with the Holy's. DD was well behaved all week (apart from a small meltdown today involving sausages) and even had a playdate with a school friend yesterday which went really well.
Having a relaxing night in my jammies tonight and DH will be waiting on me hand and foot (I haven't mentioned this to him yet Wink)
Gymnastics and swimming for DD tomorrow it's a busy weekend.

Lovely to hear all your news. Am well jel can't meet up with the London mums fancy a trip to Belfast anyone Grin

nenevomito · 17/02/2012 18:43

Evening everyone.

Not a bad week this week. We've managed to avoid any major meltdowns and we've even had some fun. I know Shock unheard of.

I've had a letter inviting me to see the Paed to discuss my concerns about DS, so throwing my toys out of the pram in the GPs office had some effect at least.

Becaroooo · 17/02/2012 18:52

creator this is ds1's beans song
"Beans beans the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot!
The more you toot, the better you feel
So lets have beans for every meal!"
Grin

ellen So sorry about your mum Sad Enjoy your curry - god knows you deserve it! x

imogen Scottish autism sound good - best of luck x

Am so tired tonight..am sat here in my fleecy - yes, fleecy! - PJs and listening to Adele cd...need a good dvd to watch....

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 17/02/2012 19:47

evening all

half term, ups and downs. I've worked most but some of it has been nice. DD has been pretty cheerful (except from the traumatic haircut) and is just starting to wind up before school next week.

We had a meeting before the end of term where the teachers said 'well, DD, you will come into school every day won't you?'

I wait with baited breath to see if that approach will work (Hmm)

Also DD1 was supposed to be doing some revision all week but has done a minescule bit and now has a party planned for tomorrow as 'the last one before revision and exams (said with big puppy eyes)' oh and can I get her some Budwiser too please Hmm Hmm again.

AND - I have a job interview on monday i need to prepare fore EEEK!

So Wine cheers all

and Thanks for always being lovely and there.

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 17/02/2012 19:49

SallyBear · 17/02/2012 20:01

More power to your drinking elbow! A large glass of wine is calling me, I may even have to have another one! That's what Friday nights are all about, that and the fact that I have survived half term - just!!!

auntevil · 17/02/2012 20:08

If its lent next week - I guess it is seeing as its pancake day coming up - I'm sending out Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine to you all - and gin for you Ninja - just to use up the excess.
Ellen - hope you get better from Dick than he was suggesting earlier this week.
Envy too at the meet up - but have fun Smile - its deserved.
Good luck for interview - Have you - and the job hunting indigo.
Apart from putting a complaint in to our PCT - all's quiet here - except our very whingey lab - who got spayed today - and is feeling sooooo very sorry for herself.

LollipopViolet · 17/02/2012 20:14

I have a recce and test shoot at the airfield tomorrow morning :) and :( as I get terrible pre-shoot nerves so I'm sat here with my stomach in knots.

And tomorrow night is hockey game. However, I have made a resolution that I'll have an ACE time on shoot and be too happy to care about this silly girl and her silly mind games. I'm going to go about my normal hockey game business, and if I see her and she tries to talk to me... well, I've got 2 options.

  1. Cold shoulder. I really have nothing nice to say to her.
  2. Be polite, but then don't carry on any long term conversations.

I've got mates in the rink, and I'll have BF as back up :)

At the moment, I'm sat listening to Iron Maiden, and trying to not stress about the shoot! Fortunately, no flying tomorrow, which is one less worry! :)

NoHaudinMaWheest · 17/02/2012 20:20

Hi all mind if I join in Friday night. Nice to hear about others' half terms - good, bad and indifferent. Ours has been not so good really. DS's OCD is definitely on a downward slide. Last night was the worst - we eventually got to bed after the rituals at 7am. Mind you we both fell asleep in the middle, DS in the bathroom and me in the passage outside. We are going to have to try an antipsychotic medication which I am not keen about, but it is very low dose. If he can't fight back a bit to speed up next week, he is going to miss lots of school and end up with a hospital admission.

moosemama · 17/02/2012 20:26

Evening all

Just scan read the rest of the thread and not retained much, but

Ellen, sorry your Mum isn't doing so well and Angry for you about the money situation. Hope you have a nice meal with your friends this evening.

and .. nope ... that's all I've got. Blush Sorry my memory has been much worse than usual this week, its currently running at about two seconds. Think I might have to change my MN name to goldfishmama! Grin

We have had a quiet half-term, punctuated by ds1's EP assessment for SA on Wednesday, which I think went very well.

Then today has been spent trying desperately to get ds1 to work on the flipping Tudor project that he should have been working on for the past four weeks and now has absolutely no chance of finishing on time.

Honestly, all he wants to do is mess about with online 3d images of galleons and do various other interactive educational stuff, rather than actually getting on with the work. I was furious to discover that after sitting with dh in the kitchen last weekend working on his Tudor Discoveries timeline, all he had was a list of four discoveries and their dates. One of them was given to him on the question sheet and two were incorrect. Angry Oh - and he had drawn a line, to put the dates on. Hmm I was equally as cross with dh as I was with ds1 when I found out.

Two and a half hours later, we now have 3 dates on the line, plus the information for 6 discoveries plus a short paragraph about each one, but that still doesn't fulfill all the criteria for that section of the project and he has another three sections of the project to go - including baking flipping ship's biscuits. Aaaargh!

By contrast, ds2 has completed two numeracy assignments and created a whole factsheet about Tutankhamun with minimal help from me. All he has left to do is to write it up in his best handwriting tomorrow. I just know that's going to cause a huge meltdown from ds1 when he realises ds2 has finished all his homework whereas he's barely started. Hmm

Wine and Brew to those that are partaking. I haven't eaten yet and don't have a clue what to make (ds fed everyone else gf pasta - boak). I was supposed to make a lovely veggie soup this afternoon, but an afternoon of wrestling homework shy ds1 put pay to that.

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 17/02/2012 20:38

Oh God. Tudor Project Flashback Shock makes me feel naseous to think about it.

DD1 - Big folder fullof lovely stuff, trip to see the Mary-Rose Nice handwriting, pictures, lovingly hand sewn magnificent bloody Tudor Queen dress for the bloody banquet.

DD2 - 75 hours of screaming and 2 sentences. Meltdown in the maze at Hampton Court Palace (although the kitchens are beautiful). another 3 days of shouting and another 4 words onto paper.

I finally wrote on the front of it - 'We Have done X, Y and Z. This is as much as DD can do for the folder'.

And then the Greeks (sob). Oh God! The Bloody Bastard Greeks and their horrible tedious myths and temples (visit to the bloody British Museum and the Elgin Marbles for that one) (God I'm a dedicated bloody parent).
Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine

coff33pot · 17/02/2012 20:43

Hi all! Trying to read through everyones posts! Good luck on the job hunting Indigo I hope somethng comes up quick for you!

Hope the meet up goes well! Envy You will have to all pop down here for a paddle in the sea one day!

noHaudin poor you and poor DS what a stressful time of it sending you both hugs xx

ellen enjoy your night out. Glad your mum is more stable now I do hope things improve even more for her x As for Dickhead there isnt much I can say apart from I really hope he supports you a lot better than the present offer!

Odd half term all round with ups and downs. DDs birthday went well despite us all having this flu virus for the last couple weeks. I think everyone I have met had it!

Had a choking proud moment yesterday. DH took DS out by himself for the first time ever yesterday roller skating! DD went too. They have finally opened something up useful down here. DH used to be a speedskater years ago so is good on the wheels. Anyhow DS aparently was a natural! Skates were on and he was off! Grin He cant ride a bike and is as clumsy and stiff as can be when running but DH said for some reason it was as if his feet and skates were one and together with the fact he has no fear of anything dangerous I think helped. Only prob DH had was that he is totally unaware of personal space and the space he was in either lol as he would dispear into his own dream world skating around but I was really proud of him and glad that he had this broad shouldered "I am cool" look on his face when his dad praised his talent at home :) What is even more important to me is that Dad and Son now have something to broaden on :)

moosemama · 17/02/2012 20:49

Oh Cervix you don't know how much it helps to hear that others have been through this. We haven't done the visits, but then we live about a million miles away from anything relevant - well I suppose we could have done Stratford, but he's not actually doing Shakespeare, its all galleons, life at sea and discoveries.

Its such a shame, so many of the children are loving this cross-curriculum stuff and doing projects instead of standard homework. Lots of them completed it in a fortnight and proudly handed bulging project folders in early, but as far as ds1 is concerned he knows loads of facts about the Tudors and that's enough. Even the lure of dh's MacBook Pro isn't enough, its proving more of a distraction if anything.
