....bit early but planning an early night tonight...am knackered after half term! Smile

Mixed week this week...

Ds1 had a hospital appt and had to have a blood test - he was v brave and didnt cry.

My aunt came round yesterday...she hasnt seen the new house and hasnt seen the boys for about a year Blush It was really eye opening seeing ds1 through her eyes...I could tell she thought his prancing was odd and his constant questions/info/repitition about dinosaurs...sigh. Just brings it home sometimes...Sad

Ds2 is being 3 so a bit of a handful Grin

Just parents evening to look forward to now.....Hmm

Also, ds2 has had his appt through for his booster jabs on the same day as parents evening...thats going to be a fun day Sad

He will only be 3.5...I thought it would be next spring he would have them???....

Have a good weekend everyone x

God, moose, thats an awful lot!!! You poor thing!

Ds1's tudor project was "a week in the life of a tudor farmer" Smile He drew a tudor rose on the front and did a glossary at the back and made his own coat of arms (V&A website very good for that sort of thing!) He did a page for each day and a picture to go with it. We went to a tudor manor house on a trip too but ds2 was a nightmare and ds1 just wanted to try the armour on! Smile

I am going to be spending all weekend trying to get ds1 to do some more on the India project...dh is useless...he ends up telling ds1 what to put in/what to say whereas I try to be more "what do you want to do/how would you say that/why do you think that?" sort of thing...

Am off to a show this afternoon "hot mikado" whatever that is!!! SIL just rang me up and wants to go...means dh gets to spend some tortuous alone quality time with the dc Smile

He has actually had the project for three weeks though - so no excuse really.

We hit problems because he's not been in a good way at school and worse at home over the past few weeks, so pushing homework would have been a bad idea. Then it took most of the holiday for him to unwind and come down to a point where the homework issue could be raised and now we're out of time. Hmm

Taking a break at the moment, just spent half an hour getting the boys to agree what they needed for flipping World Book Day. Gave up in the end and bought them both a Star Wars fancy dress costume, so obviously highly academic - not. Ds1 is going to be a Jedi Knight and Ds2 a Plo Koon Jedi Master - apparently. That's left a nice dent in my wallet. Wouldn't mind so much if I hadn't just bought all the bits for my fancy dress costume (forthcoming friend's party) for under a tenner off ebay. Hmm

Boys now eating their lunch, then its back to work. Sad

Ladies. Try this site for size. I found it very helpful for my twins when they were in Primary School. www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/ We did India too. My Dad sent me loads of fabulous photos that he had taken if India, and he was there the day after the bombing of the Taj in Bombay! So topical too!! We did them as giant posters on Indian themed paper with typed labels next to the pictures. DS1 got a Head Teachers Award for it - amazing! He researched it all and told me what to type. He has Aspergers.

coffeepot meant to say - really good about the skating hope its the start of great things to come.

moosemama · 18/02/2012 16:38

Thanks SallyBear, we use Woodlands Junior quite a lot.

What's frustrating us today is the amount of contradiction online about what year things actually happened. Not like in the old days when if a book said it, it was fact. Hmm Angry

Becaroooo · 18/02/2012 17:23

Thanks sally

Back from show - was ace!

Dh has taken photos of our cars, house etc so he can get images off the computer to compare with an indian childs home/transport etc.
We also took a photo of his dinner the other night too!

ds1 is really interested in Egypt atm...and they dont study that til Y5 - by which time he will have lost interest no doubt..have ordered him a book on egypt with a clipart cd rom so that should help.

Lots of ds1's class just dont bother tbh...there werent many tudor projects handed in.

moosemama good grief!! I very politely went in to DS2's teachers (they job share) at the beginning of the year and said "homework MAY get done, it may not... deal with it" basically. They were fine with it, although the one got a bit snippy about his reading diary for a bit, until I explained to her that if I wrote down every single blasted book that he read, I'd spend all my time writing down books. Apparently we were not pushing him to select a reading book every day (which they were "concerned" about) and we were not turning in his 2 assigned books in to them in a timely manner. He is well ahead in reading and we have to go down to near a bunch of yr2 classes to choose his books. He doesn't like trooping over there before school - too crowded. I asked them (again) to have the 1:1 do this during school hours when it was less crowded and he was less likely to be distressed. And as he has a comprehension problem, I felt it was important to keep the assigned books a day or so longer (or more) if he seemed to have difficulty understanding it, to allow us time to read it again a few times.

I. HATE. HOMEWORK. (no, really, I do...)

SallyBear · 18/02/2012 17:47

DS1 hated reading for what seemed a millennia, until Beast Quest books. OMG. It was like a light bulb went off in his head and then he was devouring a book a night. He loves reading but hates writing and spelling. When he did his yr. 6 SATS he had a scribe and scored the highest in his year for his short and long story. If he hadn't of had the scribe it would have been illegible. He still loves Egypt, but does vary his obsessions to suit his mood!!

First time I post on these fridaynight threads!
But had to share, we just came back from our first skiing holiday. I insisted on gettin my ds1 (with SN GDD) a couple do lessons, DH thought it would be a waste of time. DS was great (ok just a tiny training slope, but still), my boy is just amazing!!!

I just wish he cold learn to blooming read!!!

wigglybeezer · 18/02/2012 21:12

I'm jumping back in the thread a bit to say sorry to Imogengladheart, i think it was me who recommended she contact Scottish autisn about an assessment, I had no idea they cost so much! Eeek. Hope they gave her some useful, free advice.

DH and I spent most of half term putting flatplack furniture together, and managed it without falling out (which is more than can be said for the interaction between my three boys this week).

moosemama · 18/02/2012 21:48

Timetoask, that's lovely to hear. Just goes to show how we should never underestimate our dcs. Smile

Wiggly, my three dcs have fought pretty much constantly this holiday as well. Can't wait for Monday so I can go longer than five minutes without having to break up a fight. Hmm

LollipopViolet · 19/02/2012 12:10

Just thought I'd pop back on and update about last night. All went well, we actually arrived late so went the whole game without seeing her.

Shoot was VERY rainy, but rather good, as I've got enough rainy footage to make a little documentary on an airfield in the rain :)
