Hi all,

Rubbish week. Lots of dashed hopes. Fed up and a bit lost but I'll bounce back when I'm ready.

Hope the rest of you survived.......

Gah! I should have posted earlier as I'm far too tired to take all this in except to say to Star congrats on the baby bump. My boys (allegedly) have large heads and I was asked by one Consultant "do large heads run in the family?" Hmm

Not a bad week here. Chemo week for Son 2 so he's a bit up and down. Tired out from the chemo drug but angry and hyper because of the steroids he has to take. Was up half the night with him and he went to sleep at 5pm tonight so I am having a Brew and signing off for now as I know he'll be bounding round at around 2am Sad.

Son 1 and my daughter have been delightfully behaved tonight though. Proper angels.

Goodnight.

Hi Justa read that entry on your blog. You did very well to hold your temper and your tongue with that teacher. Honestly, I think there's at least one in every blooming school. How on earth anyone could be so full of self-importance that they think they know better than whole teams of professionals/experts never ceases to amaze me. Glad you got your point across and that the other staff and manager are good.

Had to laugh though when she said about your ds's manners. That's exactly what everyone says about about ds1! He has such lovely manners, he's so polite etc. Oh yes, he will say 'excuse me .. excuse me .. excuse me .. excuse me' a million times in perfect time until you stop what you are doing/your conversation and listen to whatever was so important that he had to urgently interrupt that second.

I remember when he was in nursery how the teacher came and told me how impressed she was that he always said 'pardon me' if he burped or broke wind! Apparently she'd never known another child of his age do it whilst at nursery. Grin

Of course these perfect manners disintegrate as soon as he crosses the threshold of our home. Hmm Apparently we aren't important enough to be deserving of please's or thank you's anymore, but he does at least still say 'pardon me' automatically. Grin

Oo, we must have one of those signs as well justa!

2old2beamum · 27/01/2012 21:30

Starlight have just had dinner and winex3 and have been thinking of you.I have put my "old" miwives hat on. I am probably about your mum's age or older. I did my Midwifery after doing my children's training and adults(yuk) and in 1978 we only rarely did scans so we did not know what the HC was so we trundled through pregnancy in blissful ignorance. In 10 years in the
midwifery field in a busy unit we had no baby born with an overlarge HC.
Don't worry because it is a son, in your situation I think it is quite normal a
daughter would be a security blanket. CONGRATULATIONS.
As an Extra I was at the delivery of our 1st adopted son (didn't know it at the time.) Take care

Catching up this morning, (and rowing with dh, so my full attention not on the posts... Blush)
Just wanted to say justa Angry at the teacher, Angry. and ninja couple of years ago dh moved from what (I think) would be adult equivalent to to piedros (boots made for his (very oddly shaped) feet by NHS 'boot man') I'm sure there is a correct name (cobbler? shoe maker?) to AFO's his needs hadn't changed, (apart from the usual slow deterioration) but the AFO's give him more stability and have def helped with the 'foot drop'.
As you say may be financial in which case Angry, but might be useful to try?? Hmm, just a thought.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 28/01/2012 14:00

thanks sign, useful to know! Boot man is most likely orthotist Grin but we also have boot man. I don't trust the one at the hospital as they said dd3 needed piedros but they wouldn't provide them, this physio was the one that said bollocks to that and got them ordered for her so I want to trust what she's saying. I've asked to see the community boot man instead so we'll see what he says (if they let us see him) but I know the pct wanted to stop providing them last year so I'm a little sceptical as to the reasoning behind this as obviously there's a big risk to dd3's stability and the damage to her ankles if we get this wrong.

justa, I don't know how you kept calm with that teacher Angry

signandsmile · 28/01/2012 18:46

thanks justa, that actually made me laugh out loud! yes he has been a bit of a toad... Angry, Grin

ninja hope you get trustworthy advice, and not just fobbing off.... although who would dare to fob the mighty ninja??? (visions of you all in black with nunchucks (sp?) )Grin

Becaroooo · 28/01/2012 19:14

"boot man" Grin thats really made me smile, thanks!
