Evening all......

OP posts:
moosemama · 20/01/2012 18:36

Good luck Coff and dd, sending positive thoughts and lots of love and light. xx

moosemama · 20/01/2012 18:37

Thanks creatovator, its par for the course with MS dx unfortunately. It takes literally years for some people to be dxd and some people never get a full dx.

creatovator · 20/01/2012 18:39

Moose would it mean you'd have to avoid certain things like food and doing particular stuff? My husband's got a friend who's partner has it and she seems to keep well most of the time now.

signandsmile · 20/01/2012 18:41

moose Sad thinking of you... coff hope all goes well at hosp

ouryve · 20/01/2012 18:42

Everything crossed, coff33pot. Hope it all goes smoothly for your DD.

Becaroo, come keep my misery company. I'm sick and tired of hurty joints. Woke up with my neck in spasm, this morning. DS1 has turned the angry and obnoxious up to 11, this week, and I'm just plain worn out. DS2 is permanently tired because of DS2's early mornings, which has left him pretty empathy challenged :(

ouryve · 20/01/2012 18:43

That's DH who is permanently tired. DS2 gives the best hugs in the world, but is a crap conversationalist :o

moosemama · 20/01/2012 18:45

They don't give you any guidance or refer you to the MS clinic until you get a definitive dx unfortunately.

There are 5 different types of MS and it affects every person differently, so its hard to judge what would work from one person to the next really.

Personally, I noticed a huge difference last year when I started eating healthily, taking supplements and building my fitness levels. So I'm just going to keep on with that and hope for the best. I definitely think it helped that I was already a lot stronger and fitter when I had the tests, as the relapse hasn't been anywhere near as bad as some of my previous ones.

My gut feeling is still that its not MS though. I'm pretty sure its ME, which is what I've always thought, since getting a CFS dx when I was 19/20.

Becaroooo · 20/01/2012 18:46

coff thinking of you and your dd x

moose I was dx with ME in 1997 and have had 2 neuro "episodes" but still no dx. I also had a clear LP in 2006 after last "episode". Its tough. Very tough. I am "borderline" for lots of stuff....thyroid, anaemia, rheumatoid factor etc etc...nothing docs can /will do till I get worse, basically. Really sorry you are in a similar boat Sad xxxx

ouryve · 20/01/2012 18:46

Moose, you're more then welcome in my gloomy little corner, too. The not quite knowing has to be worse than knowing for sure, in some ways.

I have tea and sugary crap by the bucketload. Wine is more then welcome.

creatovator · 20/01/2012 18:47

ouryve sounds tough in your house too. Hope you have a better week this week.

Becaroooo · 20/01/2012 18:48

ouryve Sad Thats sounds tough, sorry...you are welcome to join my misery party!

ouryve · 20/01/2012 18:51

got a gatecrasher, here, trying to fall asleep on me. Wonder why he's so tired?Hmm

creatovator · 20/01/2012 18:53

Moose Healthy eating definitely helps me when I'm not feeling so good. Had ME in my 20s and was close again last Sept. Thankfully I've pulled away from it this time, and healthy eating is easier than diets excluding things, which I did before. Supplements really helped too Smile.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/01/2012 18:54

passes round the gin to all those in need Smile

coffee, hope they sort dd out, good luck.

dd3 has had a good week, finally got all the hearing aid and glasses problems sorted so have been able to relax a little. I hadn't realised her school have the pets as therapy people in, she met the most beautifully calm black lab this week, she really enjoyed it.

Becaroooo · 20/01/2012 18:55

creator and moose Can I ask which supplements you found helpful? Have tried a few and not had much success........

creatovator · 20/01/2012 18:58

Beca I used acidophilos (spelling?) magnesium, zinc, manganes (spelling) and vit c (high dose). I think the magnesium and zinc really helped me most.

Hi Ninja. Thanks for the gin Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/01/2012 19:04

you're most welcome creato Smile

moosemama · 20/01/2012 19:24

Beca, sorry you are in the same boat. Frustrating isn't it.

The biggest improvements I noticed were first when I started taking high strength omega capsules and then again when I started taking vitamin d. I also take floradix daily.

Cutting all the crap out of my diet and building up my exercise over a several months has also been really worthwhile.

I started to improve at the end of April/beginning of May when I started the omegas. That was after 6 months of a really bad crisis/relapse involving speech and memory problems, parasthesia and muscle twitches, vision problems and episodes that were similar to minor strokes.

I started out moving around the house more after barely being able to get off the sofa since the previous November and then built up my walking, gradually up to 4/5 miles a day. From there I changed my diet to exclude all processed food and sugar etc and I was super-strict for a while. Then I joined My Fitness Pal and started logging my food and exercise, eventually building up my fitness level to being able to do the 30 Day Shred and eventually even the shred plus some other Jillian Michaels torture workout dvds.

Unfortunately, over Christmas I gave myself a week off diet and exercise, then had the LP and ended up flat out for a fortnight followed by the old exhaustion, brain fog etc and my speech and memory problems and parasthesia returned. So I hadn't done a stroke of exercise for a whole month until this week and had started comfort eating again. BUT I restarted my diet on Monday and have managed to crawl my way through 3 level 1 shreds this week, but its going to be a while before I feel fit and strong again.

I'm determined to do it though, having felt that good and after putting in all that effort I am NOT going to let myself go downhill again. Grin

Hi everyone, sorry I'm not able to reply individually, I get all confused on these threads.

Back at uni, in a whole new year group who've been together for 2.5 years already. Was scary when I first went in yesterday but those that I did know already are being lovely, as are some of those I don't know well.

Flying film is going well, should be getting underway next month hopefully. Got an idea for my 2nd film too.

Mouseface · 20/01/2012 21:05

Evening Smile

Just thought I'd pop in and have a nosy round if that's okay. I'm new to this thread but not MNSN.

Had one of those evenings where the wine cannot be opened soon enough. I've shown a huge amount of ignorance and not read back, I'm sorry Blush

I recognise a few names, Coff33 - good luck xx

And Bec and Ourvye and Moose Smile

Here Wine please feel free to pass it around.

IndigoBell · 20/01/2012 21:17

Hi MouseFace,

What brings you to our neck of the wood? A recent diagnosis?

OP posts:
Mouseface · 20/01/2012 21:35

Oh no, not really.. We've just started the statementing process so I thought I had better make myself familiar with the SN topic more for when I am sat here with you all sobbing because it's taking so long or can read other similar stories....

I usually lurk, rather than post. Just thought I'd say hi. Smile

LollipopViolet · 20/01/2012 22:12

Oooh, just remembered some other news.

My lovely BF of nearly 3 months has said that, when I'm finished at uni in July time (we'll have known each other a year, will have been dating for 8 months), he wants to take me round some jewellery shops.

To look at a certain type of ring :)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 20/01/2012 22:27

oh wonderful lollipop Smile
