How are all you lovely ladies?

Ds has done first full (5 day) week at school, mixed results, he managed, but he has been 'away with the fairies' with tiredness, and his TA has said he hasn't been able to do so much work, and has been quite 'shouty'. Confused He has also had a marked increase in verbal stims, echolalia and the other one; (where they are not repeating you, but just repeating something they have going round in their own head, can anyone remind of what that ones called?)

However he managed without meltdowns, and is off to a party on Sun, Grin

I am feeling smug, as the college work that was threatening to drown me last week is now only lapping at my toes, Grin. and I have arranged visits with most of my own SW students, so I feel I have 'got stuff done' Wink Grin.

Here's a link www.thecnnh.org/lego.html. I know the National Autistic Society in Cambridge (I think) has one of the folk who was involved in research into it. Her name was Gina Gomez.

Becaroooo · 13/01/2012 19:14

Hi imogen Glad you got some more answers at least! - I am staggered by their incompetance/negligence each and every time you post about that awful school and dreadful staff Shock If they havent even filled the form in properly then they are being obstructive and that needs to be addressed.

I wish I could be more help....Sad

Am really hoping paed will prescribe melatonin...he has difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep so not even sure if they can help...sigh.

creatovator · 13/01/2012 19:15

Imogen xposted. Thank you for saying I sound organised. It was an end of year resolution when I was very unwell. I decided to take time out to work on all the things I didn't have time to do normally (except tax which I have to do!) It feels really good to finally do them, and I have a great DH who does thing like packed lunches and cooking.

creatovator · 13/01/2012 19:18

Imogen Think I must be quite near you. Are you north or south of the river? Sounds like school from hell.

Beca Hope you get something to help the sleeping situation.

signandsmile · 13/01/2012 19:24

I will catch up tomorrow,

Hi imogen glad you are getting somewhere today. Read your thread but was so dumbfounded at the incompetancy I had no advice to put! Hope you did have somewhat of a good birthday yesterday :) If not celebrate it again!

No I am not near london I am in cornwall and so its an expedition for DS and I ! The Maudsley do take second opinion referrals and complex cases from all over UK but it wasnt easy to battle for. DS is both complex and a second opinion lol but it was a battle of collecting tests, paperwork, reports, begging, ranting swearing and my wonderful grey haired GP I found who actually listened and if I am honest because he was old school and new nothing of autism was the last on my list of approaching for help and it was only purchance that I ended up with him at a GP appointment.

Get yourself some Wine out the fridge and start that birthday again Grin

Becaroooo · 13/01/2012 19:27

Coff33 A gp who listens - they're few and far between. I found one too Grin

Justabouthadenough · 13/01/2012 19:33

Hello. I havent managed to get on here for months. I was Vera can sign. If anyone remembers me?
Long few months, dd has ed psych seeing her next week, and the 3rd and final part (speech and language) of her ASD assessment. Had 2 "yes but under review" write ups so far. Should have a diagnosis by half term. :D

creatovator · 13/01/2012 19:42

Hi Justa. Sounds like a tough few months. Glad you're making progress now.

Justabouthadenough · 13/01/2012 19:45

Does anyone find you have months of fighting for something and then it all happens at once (good and bad)?

creatovator · 13/01/2012 19:52

Yes. I sometimes wonder if the professionals talk to each other and organise it that way Grin

coff33pot · 13/01/2012 19:56

Hi Justa :)

Yes I agree with that I think they like us on some sort of yo-yo or they have 4 or 5 monthsly straw draws between them!

hazeyjane · 13/01/2012 20:10

Sorry, will go back and read the thread in a minute - I am supposed to be cooking nice meal for me and dh, but am on mumsnet instead!

Am very glad it is the end of the week, which has felt like a really long one. The low points of which were

  1. deciding to go to physio appointment on bus - cost £8, took 3 1/2 hours there and back, ds screamed for whole appointment because he had been woken up to get on the bus (no space for pushchair-aagh!) and the physio touched his feet, which he hates.

  2. having a really down morning at nursery, where the SALT said that she was 'very concerned' about ds's clinginess and there are going to be problems scheduling his videofluroscopy in GWH (our nearest hospital). Then the physio there decided that she is 'very concerned' about his feet, which she twisted and wiggled, which of course made ds scream the place down and cling to me even more. The annoying thing is she was completely non-committal about what her concerns were! I really struggle going there, I know/hope it will eventually be of benefit to ds, but at the moment we are both just miserable when we are there.

Sorry what a huuuugggge whinge.

Right off to cook tea, then back to read rest of thread!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 13/01/2012 21:13

Oops, forgot it was Friday! Too many posts to catch up with!

Justa was Vera! Hi! Smile Isn't your new name a bit similar to Justaboutisnowakiwi? You will confuse me...

Had a meeting with school just to see how DS2 had settled in to secondary. All really positive, there is even a potential friend, also on the spectrum. I suggested maybe he could come for a play, but DS2 not keen. Sad Likes to keep home and school separate.

He's hand writing much more, won't use his Alphasmart or laptop, which is good, I think. Confused If he doesn't use a laptop in normal lessons he won't be able to use one in exams, though.

Off to browse the rest of MN. See you all later.

nenevomito · 13/01/2012 21:18

Evening everyone, just looking in. This has been an interesting week with good things - discovering chewigem necklaces - and bad things, - DS being bullied.

Hey ho! Just going to check up on the rest of the thread now x

auntevil · 13/01/2012 21:30

Will check on the previous posts later, but I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Ninja for rescuing me on Monday. She is a star, and deserves every drop of gin tonight Grin .

Ineedalife · 13/01/2012 21:58

Hi all, sounds like most people have had a good wek with some real successesGrin.

Sorry if you haven't had such a good one and hope next week is better.

sing I must have been here to long, I remember when the friday thread referred to being "too tired for bum sex" tooGrin.

We have had a great week, went to see the SENCO about Dd3 being discharged from everything and she is going to get in touch with some people and get her back on the books of the school based SALT and is going to do some of DD3's physio at school. Yay!!

I feel so lucky to have moved Dd3 to this wonderful school and to have met this lovely lady who is so helpful and really gets Dd3 and our situation.

Off to bed in a minute I am too tired for anything tonight Grin.

Ineedalife · 13/01/2012 21:58

Of course that should have said sign, I told you I am tiredSmile.

Triggles · 14/01/2012 08:23

I've scanned, but seeing a post that says bum sex, obviously I now need to go through and read thoroughly.. hope everyone is doing well!
