A lady in the supermarket made a comment about ds hair today and she is not the first .He is the only family member that has coarse wirey hair and the only family member with autism.
It just got me wondering if anybody elses asd children have the coarse hair because the autism outreach lady mentioned "many of my clients have the same hair type".could there be something in my theory or have i had too llittle sleep Blush

It's obvious innit - it's the triad of inhairments (tsk-BOOM).

PipinJo I need to know about crystal children!

ouryve · 13/10/2011 19:12

Oh gawd, that crystal child crap is one of Jenny McCarthy's little gems. Apparently crystal children are the replacement for Indigo children and they're going to change the world, or some such tripe.

Oh yes, crystal and indigo children, my Mum is really into that idea and has bought me both books to read! She was rather keen that my offspring would be 'special' long before I even wanted to have children! Grin

Apparently, indigos were the forerunners - a warrior race that came into being to clear the way for the crystals and advance the world scientifically etc. The first 'Indigos' were born in the seventies and - according to my Mum - I am one! Hmm Ds1 is apparently the end of the next generation of Indigos. Hmm

Of course not all of these children have ASD, some are just beautiful souls who are paragons of peace and virtue and affect everyone they meet in a life affecting way ....

I did actually quite enjoy reading the books - in a kind of fascinated by hippy/alternative theories, rather than given to actually believing in them myself kind of way. That was a long time before I had ds1 though and I had absolutely no knowledge of ASD back then.

Dear Lord. Still, I guess it makes a change from Rain Man Grin

bialystockandbloom · 13/10/2011 19:54

rofl at 'triad of inhairments' Grin [or should that be groan]

FWIW my ds has fantastically thick, lustrous, shiny chestnut hair sadly nothing like mine and also amazing eyelashes and big blue/grey eyes. And of course is spectacularly beautiful, natch.

DD has identical colouring but curlier hair, less amazing eyelashes, and not quite so beautiful.

Neither of them look remotely like me. Hmm

bialystockandbloom · 13/10/2011 19:57

From that Indigo children website: "They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind."

Wtf, are they aliens?

moosemama · 13/10/2011 19:59

Wilson, thank you - you have cheered me right up, I've been a right grump all day today. Love the 'triad of in-hairments'! Grin

Not aliens exactly bialystock, but read on - they can communicate telepathically with one another y'know!

bialystockandbloom · 13/10/2011 20:02

Grin Grin

My DS has long blond wavy hair. He has blue eyes and long eyelashes and beautifully clear, honey coloured skin.

His hair is so long mainly because when he was vey little I couldn't get him near a hairdresser so it just got longer. Now he likes it so it stays.

Some friends have suggested he's like Samson. He will stop raging when we cut his hair. Grin

No-one has suggested he's a "beautiful soul who is a paragon of peace and virtue and affects everyone he meets in a life affecting way ...."

at the thought.
He does affect people in a life affecting way (WTF?? Confused )though, but that's usually because of the scars... (I'll get my coat Grin )

bialystockandbloom · 13/10/2011 20:55

Strangely, just this evening my ds saw the trailer for the cbeebies bedtime story, read by one of Girls Aloud (think it was Kimberley) and said "I'd like to have long hair like that". Hmm

tabulahrasa · 13/10/2011 21:28

My DS gets his hair cut as short as possible because he hates it touching his face and he doesn't like brushing it...maybe he's got the wrong diagnosis, should I take him back to the hairdressers? lol

ineedstrongcoffee · 13/10/2011 21:41

Triad of inhairments ha ha love it.
However i could be getting rather envious of listening to these storys of long silky hair Smile
But i still wouldnt swap my little BRILLO PAD,and with winter on the way we always have the option of a hat Wink

no no noooo no leave in conditioner. The proffs cant work my DS out so I guess he just needs a de-tangler to start with Grin

Wish I read the rest of this thread earlier I cant go upstairs for laughing at the triad of inhairments!

MedusaIsHavingABadHairDay · 14/10/2011 07:43

Hilarious thread.. but really Grin

My son has ASD and he's normal looking . I feel disloyal for saying that now! Even worse.. he HAD silky fine straight blonde hair. Then he hit puberty and almost overnight it turned into an afro (seriously..it was bizarre!) However he still isn't cured so I guess his hair isn't the deciding facto Grin

I have also worked in special school for years and my job is purely with children who have autism.. and have to say, there have been equally as many ordinary looking kids as beautiful ones, and a few downright ugly ones too...

WilsonFrickett · 14/10/2011 11:11

Coff you need a holistic approach babe - detangler, leave in three times a week, and a deep conditioning oil therapy once a fortnight!
