Some of you might be interested in this test

It costs £20, and tests:

Processing Speed:
Working Memory:
Auditory Memory:
Visual Memory:
Long-Term Memory:
Visual Processing:
Auditory Processing:
Logic & Reasoning:

Word Attack:

And gives you an age equivalent and percentile score for each section.

The results tally with other EP reports I have had done, so it seems pretty accurate to me.

"But guys, feel free to pay an EP £600 to tell you stuff you could find out for £20. It's your money" - the two don't even compare at all, like a Fiesta with a Porshe!

"I really honestly wonder why I bother posting useful stuff on this board. So many people want to shout me down." - boo hoo people disagree with you, so what?

silverfrog · 03/10/2011 19:34

jeez, caro, lighten up a bit.

the fact that Indigo has posted lots before, with very useful information is an indicator that she is not a scam merchant looking ot make a quick buck (as you supposed in your original post)

we tend not to go for all out flaming on the SN board. discussion yes - I am sure Indigo woudl be happy to answer any reasonably put questions about her experience with the site (sorry to speak for you, Indigo, but you have put in the time before Smile).

but why the attack? what purpose does that serve?

madwomanintheattic · 03/10/2011 19:39
Shock

um. caro, you accused her of trying to flog a crapola 'service' to make a quick buck. i'm offended on her behalf, tbh.

sometimes it's worth checking a poster's history befire you shout your mouth off, or you run the risk of looking foolish.

on the sn board? really? supportive, much?

i gather you must have had a bad experience or ten with scammers, caro. it isn't easy to sort the wood from the trees and all that, but maybe a different tone would have got the message across in a different way?

I have to stand up for indigo as well. She consistently posts useful information on this board that has helped many of us. I don't need to use this site at the moment as just had a la ep report but I will test him in the summer term to see if he has improved on the areas where he has difficulties.

Please don't attack regular posters. It is not in the spirit of this board where we all have enough fighting to do in rl on behalf of our children.

carocaro we are all adults and it's our responsibility to decide if the repost is useful for us individually. I agree there are lots of scams around but dont shoot the messenger...I personally like to be informed of things people have found useful and I can make a decision if I agree myself. People give advice and recommendations all them time on mn, that's what it is for. I think you're opinion is misdirected at indigo. By all means, say your opinion but there's no need to come across aggressive IMO.

MangoMonster · 03/10/2011 19:49

Plus, I don't think it's beneficial to people on SN board to encounter posts which come across as aggressive as yours. People here post very sensitive topics and no one needs to be shouted down, especially people who are new to the board, would want them to be put off.

tradesmansentrance · 03/10/2011 20:10

Another voice of support for Indigo. I really cannot see the point of attacking people for advice and support given in good faith. It's possible to disagree without being personal.

Becaroooo · 03/10/2011 21:12

carocaro I just paid £600 for an EP Report and it was the biggest pile of poorly structured vague crap I have ever read. You think that paying £600 means you get a good service??? Wish that was so. Sad

If you dont agree with a post, thats fine, but your unprovoked attack on indigo has made you look a fool. A beligerant, arrogant fool.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 03/10/2011 23:16

thanks for this, it looks like it will a good starting point for dd who is on the waiting list for an updated EP report but won't be seen for at least 6 months.

IndigoBell · 04/10/2011 07:23

Thanks for the support guys.

Only thing to remember when using it is to put their birth date in in American format (month first) not British. Blush

Just because it's a SN board does not mean we all have to be meek and agree with every single post. What would be the point of that? We may be parents of SN children but that does not make us stupid or happy to go blindly along with anything and everything posted. I am happy new posters could read posts that both agree and disagree to give a balance view, not just a pile of sycophants, shoved down one route because 'every one says so'. Give new posters and existing posters some credit, not all scardy cats of listening to real debate.

Checking a poster's history before you respond, what is this, a police state? You want people to have to tailor your answers based on a posters history, that is arrogant and the most stupid thing I have ever heard on MN! IS has still yet to anser why the website had no address of phone number - a sure sign of a scam/a company with something to hide. I have had many disagreee with advice I have posted, have disagreed with other posters and none of them have ever come back with the response 'poor me' it is so playing the victim and very childish.

Becaroo - I suggest you ask for your money back or choose more wisely next time.

Carocaro - there is a contact us page.

Very often websites don't put email addresses on, because then that email address will be used for spam. If you contact Gary (as I did) you will get an answer back very quickly.

Becaroo can't ask for her money back. She got exactly what she paid for. An EP report. The EP talked to Becaroo, talked to DS, did the tests on him. And recommended a whole lot of waffle.

I've only read 5 EP reports. But they've all been that useless. Not one of them has recommended anything I hadn't already found out about via a lot of googling and research.

Those 5 reports however did diagnose 3 children with dyslexia, and helped to diagnose 1 child with Aspergers. So if you're looking for a label, they can be helpful.

My DD has had an EP report done, and this test was more informative than the EP report. Because the EP didn't test all of the things that this test did. And missed her biggest problem.

Which I now have a plan how to solve. So I'm currently feeling very positive.

Good luck with finding the answers you are looking for. You may find your aggressive and confrontational style, coupled with your faith in EPs, hinders you at some point on your road.

Certainly if you are rude and aggressive on this board, people will be less inclined to help you. This board has been incredibly helpful to me over the last few years, and I attribute a large part of my success in improving DS's Aspergers and DD's dyslexia to the knowledge I gained from reading and participating in this board.

It was on one of the documents on the website.

I think I mentioned in earlier post that the EP report was by far the least useful of all the professionals ones, (and we didn't just choose a bad one, as caro implied becaroo did, Shock) This was the LA one, an ASD specialist... Hmm

For what it's worth what was really useful was the report the LD pyschologist did, there were some quirks/issues that even he had difficutly pinning down, and we are engaged in 'watching and waiting' to see how the ASD and learning disability interact and develop. So a test like that, that we could do, maybe once a year, could give us an idea about which areas are improving/changing, and where we need to focus. Our LA doesn't have the faciltities to do that with us, and we don't have hundreds of pounds to spend on anything, let alone one report! It is 'horses for courses', and as I said before I am grateful to indigo for letting us know. I don't take what she says as 'gospel' and I am not naive, I can make that decision for my self.

sphil · 04/10/2011 14:13

Ah, now this will be very useful. Thanks Indigo!

Becaroooo · 04/10/2011 15:21

Why thank you for that gem of advice caro How very helpful of you! Believe me, I feel stupid enough spending £600 on a crap report which wont help my ds without you rubbing it in.

indigo am doing the test on thursday, thanks for the info x

lec0rnsillk · 04/10/2011 16:44

thanks indigo - I'll have a go with that later on.

Oblomov · 04/10/2011 17:41

Thanks Indigo. I am interested too. Awaiting EP report at moment. But don't hold out too much hope for a thorough one, becasue she dismissed ds as not complex enough to assess, in th efirst place, even though he had just been diagnosed. I might just pay for this. Because I am at the early stages and have a lot to learn. It might give me some bartering power when I actually do sit down with EP to discuss her report.

madwomanintheattic · 04/10/2011 21:58

yy.
but just because it's an sn board we don't have to be meek and mild and report a poster because she's started a thread about something that (some) sn parents might find interesting.

or shout SCAM SCAM SCAM and tell the op she should be paying to advertise on mn.

what was their reply, btw, caro? ('calm down dear, it's only not a commercial'?) Hmm

Agree with Mrs Magnolia, CaroCaro, it might be best if you did not post on Sn, if that is your attitude.
I come here for support. And your vicious un-called for attack on Indigo, is not welcome here.
