feel a bit shocked but also relieved. have had suspecions about dd2 since she was a baby that something wasnt right. sn teacher is going to speak with the physio on weds as she is coming in to assess dd2 anyway.

so again, what next?

god yeah- if you think the physio is wrong then ignore her. What on earth would a physio know about AS anyway? You may as well ask the cat!

i'll ask the hamster.......

am back home again. spoke to the SN teachers again, i said what the physio had said, but also said 'i have concerns and you have concerns so what do we need to do?' i have to go back to the GP, to get referred to paed, so we can get the ball rolling, and get the SECO out to assess her at the school, and go from there. she said the process should take about 6months.

I agree that a Physio would have no idea about AS/ASD. A multi-disciplinary assessment would be the best way to find out what the problem is. Some conditions can overlap and make it hard to tell one from the other, eg dyspraxia and AS. It's good though that you have the SN teacher on your side already. It's annoying when you are going through the assessment process, have listed all the difficulties and quirks etc and then the pre-school/school write a statement saying "X is fine when they're with us. We can see no problems at all."

tbh i wouldnt be taking this any further if the pre-school hadnt pick up on it without any prompting from me.

when i see the paed do i get the pre-school SN taeacher to write a letter as well for me to take in? will it help?

misdee you could do, and try to get it sent with the gp referral letter if poss so it gets read ahead of the appointment. Our paed had ds' previous OT reports and it was helpful in highlighting where he had specific difficulties on which he was able to focus more time during the assessment. It might be better if her letter were descriptive of the behaviour causing concern ie. dd is unable to play cooperatively with another child of similar age, avoids tactile play using playdoh, sand etc rather than directing them towards a particular diagnosis.

Good luck
