I'm getting my PhD bound. I'd like to dedication to all of you brave folks forced to battle for our kids. You've absolutely kept me going and got me through this

I'm looking for a pithy quote or saying from someone of note to sum the whole thing up

So far, I'm considering
Truth is mighty and will prevail. There is nothing the matter with this, except that it ain't so. ~Mark Twain, Notebook, 1935

Any advances!!!

If they don't do records then the head teacher can't PROVE that it was her idea that that EP came in can she?

The EP HAS to do records ffs. If she hasn't got a record of the request, deny it ever happened and declare her too incompetent to handle your ds' transition.

Sorry, I'm a bit volaltile today!

Well no one ever seems to record telephone calls. I did speak to the head last week and mention that they should be supporting additional assistance but I didn't mean one off visits - I meant proper outside support.

If I refuse, won't I look like I'm depriving my own child?

Not if you 'rearrange'.

Perhaps you can suggest that you have wanted support for a long time but that it needs to be done in partnership with parents for the best outcome but unfortunately you're being forced to tribunal and the stress of it means that you won't be able to give it your proper attention so you'd like to rearrange it for afterwards so that your ds can get the most out of it.

I would do that. After Tribunal is basically end of term. Literally.

I could do it on the basis that I want a proper intervention and that I will be asking for this at Tribunal. This will entail working with the child to support his needs and training the staff supporting him in the new year.

I don't want a cobbled together meeting at school where she talks to the wrong staff, I'm excluded and we never see her again.

Oh well, just write that as your reason then. It looks pretty reasonable to me.

I could also say that the purpose of me wanting outside intervention was to ensure that school receive appropriate advice on DS's needs which they don't presently understand.

However, this intervention will be based solely on a perception of needs presented by the very people who don't understand them. How can she advise on needs she is not sure she is properly identifying?

My exclusion from this makes me very suspicious

Just looked back at emails and had an email from this EP in April promising all kinds of wonderful interventions after Easter.

Funny how we've not seen her since.

Just suggest that given she has been unable to deliver the wonderful strategies in time for the current class teacher to be able to make use of them and (like my response from the school) there is only 5 full weeks left of term and it is best to stick to familiar strategies amongst sports day practice, class photos, school plays and the excitement of the holidays that it would be better and more valuable if she delivered her wonderful strategies to the new class teacher in September instead.

appropriatelytrained · 24/06/2011 22:27

Of course, I could always say that the reality is that I don't know whether DS will be at the school in September so what's the point.

Seriously we need to move on.
