Friday night, too tired for....

Hey, I've never started this before.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the weather, and looking forward to lots of time off with the kids . I had a good week, except when DH locked my keys in the car and went off to work with the spare set, just before school drop off and work for me. It was the DC I support statement review too! Aaagh.

Pretty good week here dd has recovered from the virus that kept her off school for almost two weeks. Her first day back today so I have chilled in the garden rather than doing any much needed housework.
Ds is ds,not a bad week, pretty grumpy but that's normal for him.
We're all looking forward to next Friday when we go to the coast for a week. A change of scene and a chance to chill is very much needed I think.

Al1son · 08/04/2011 21:27

I hope you got a good apology Ellen. Did you manage to get to the review?

I missed most of the sunshine stuck in a rheumatology clinic with DD2 (8) discovering that they don't think she has Juvenile Arthritis (good Smile) but her severe and long lasting hip and shoulder pain is caused by hypermobility (not so good). We not have to traipse 50 odd miles for regular physio appointments and she's not going to cooperate due to her (as yet undiagnosed) ASD. Oh Joy!

On the bright side DH is doing bedtime seeing as he's been working away all week being waited on hand and foot. Therefore I get extra MN time Grin

Al1son · 08/04/2011 21:28

We now have to traipse 50 odd miles....

EllenJane1 · 08/04/2011 21:30

Glad your DD is better at last.

The carpet in here could do with a hoover! Never been a great lover of housework. That's the real reason I got a job as a TA, so I had an excuse for the house being messy.

Anyway, Friday night takeaway curry has just arrived. Yum!

Just wanted to say hi quickly; has been a mixed week. Ds2's school have been doing a play this week and, although, he's not involved (his choice) he's been really out of sorts. Him and ds1 have done nothing but fight and bicker - perhaps both just tired and needing a break. Dd3 is in the middle of it all!

50 miles is a lot for appointments, I hope you enjoy your extra mn time, Al1son!

EllenJane1 · 08/04/2011 21:34

Sorry A1ison, x post. Good news about the juvenile arthritis. Smile Though physio with DD sounds a bit of a trial.

EllenJane1 · 08/04/2011 21:37

That's Al1son. Sorry.

My DS hates any off timetable stuff, party days, mufti days etc. I bet there's been loads of rehearsals, Helen.

I'm enjoying the sunshine and DD has had a great time in the garden after school paddling in her little paddling pool. Life seems so much easier when the sun is shining and the kids are outside Smile

EllenJane1 · 08/04/2011 21:48

Those were the days, Eveie! I can't get my computer nerd to leave the house.

Evenin' all!

I have had a decidedly odd week. Started off badly - finding out the school haven't kept any records relating to ds's SEN and support, which effectively means there's no evidence for our statement application. Angry (Do they not have an angrier emoticon that one doesn't seem angry enough.)

Didn't exactly improve, thanks to a murderous day at the eye clinic with ds2 and dd in tow. Ds2 had been squeezed into a geriatric clinic because they cocked up and didn't send his follow up appointment in time - so I was stuck with a bored very-2-year-old dd and a bored ds2, who couldn't do anything to entertain himself due to the seemingly super strength eye drops they gave him - in a waiting room full of bad-tempered elderly people for the best part of an hour. Then I discovered that they had also messed up his Consultant's Opthamologist appointment and it hadn't been booked on the system. Fortunately the lovely Consultant Optician (who is also mightily p'd off with the way we've been treated) said she'd sort it all out for us.

On to the opticians to get his new glasses, only to be treated really shabbily, left standing at the desk for 10 minutes with the two dcs, then told to take a seat and left for another 20 minutes, whilst 3 other people that came in afterwards were served before us and dd became more and more fractious. Then we are asked to move so they could serve another lady who had an emergency - only to eavesdrop and find out her so-called emergency was that she was going on holiday the next day and her glasses were a bit tight! Shock Angry We were finally seen by a woman who clearly didn't know what she was doing and ended up having to wait while someone came over to help her anyway - by which time dd was well overdue for a nappy change and had leaked all through her clothes! Aaargh!

That particular delight was quickly followed by a descent into a lovely CFS/ME crisis, just in time for the holidays. Hmm

But .... I did have two positive things that came out of my bad mood.

First off, I complained to Amazon because the bloomin' Pokemon Black game I ordered off them for ds1's birthday on Sunday still hadn't arrived and had no tracking, as for some ungodly reason they were sending it from somewhere in Europe rather than the UK. I sent them an extremely curt email and demanded they replace it on express delivery at no additional charge and within half an hour I not only had a response, but the new one was winging its way to us. Thankfully it arrived this morning - so major birthday meltdown averted - phew!

Secondly, still in a foul mood and trying to cost up our summer holiday I discovered that whilst vw campers have a £60 supplement on them when travelling by ferry to Ireland, MPVs such as Land Rover Discoveries (which are the same height and actually longer than VW campers) do not. Effectively the owners of the smaller vehicle are being penalised. Confused So, I emailed both ferry companies to complain and got a response from Irish Ferries the next morning saying they will waive the supplement for us. (I'm still waiting to hear from Stena, but half a result 'ain't bad. Grin)

I am still pursuing Irish Ferries to change their booking categories so that the problem doesn't keep reoccurring. I've always known about it - it was only this year that it really p'd me off enough to do something about it. Mainly because thanks to them changing the value of Tesco Vouchers despite saving up £111 of vouchers we still couldn't cover the whole cost of the ferry! Shock

I am seriously looking forward to a couple of weeks with no school runs and will definitely not be missing my lovely chats with ds1's teacher in the playground after school each day.

Mind you, I had to separate my boys within half an hour of them coming home this afternoon - so I'm not holding out much hope for a peaceful holiday.

Its ds1's 9th birthday on Sunday and I have to bake and decorate a flipping Pichu cake somehow between now and then. Then a week on Monday its ds2's 7th birthday, so I have to do it all over again with yet another pokemon. Hmm

Al1son · 08/04/2011 21:52

Was it really paddling pool weather today? I knew we should have had a BBQ this evening!

I'll have to check the forecast now and see what tomorrow's going to be like.

moosemama · 08/04/2011 21:52

Whoa - should have proof read - major ranting mahoosive post!

Sorry folks, I was on a roll!

Ignore me. Blush

CinnamonPretzel · 08/04/2011 22:03

:o lol @ moosemama {hug} to all who need one :)

EllenJane1 · 08/04/2011 22:04

I'd never ignore you Moose, remember I'm stalking you!

What a rubbish optician, don't forget you are a fully paid up PITA mother now, this also applies to shops and services as well as LAs.

Ineedalife · 08/04/2011 22:08

Wow moose it sounds like you needed to get that off your chest, I hope you feel better nowSmile.

For those that haven't read my other thread, we have finally moved Dd3 to another school, today was Dday, she has left the old crappy school behind and is looking forward to starting her new one after her 3 week holiday.

Owing to the stress of waiting for the formal offer of a place at the new school and all the other stuff that went along with it, I have no idea what the rest of the week has been likeHmm.

moosemama · 08/04/2011 22:11

Ah, but are you stalking me? Or am I stalking you? Confused

I'm so pathetically crap at butt kicking face-to-face. I actually shocked myself by shouting at the SENCo at ds's IEP review meeting, when she said we couldn't apply for a statement because he's not two and a half years behind academically. I saw red and managed to throw SENCOP and the Disability Act at her all in one go! Even dh was stunned to silence for a moment. Grin

Now I know why she was trying to put me off though, don't I. Angry

moosemama · 08/04/2011 22:13

Thanks Ineedalife. I do feel much lighter, come to think of it. Grin

Is no-one impressed at my anger channelling complaint techniques and resultant rewards then? Wink

intothewest · 08/04/2011 22:15

Hi all- sorry for any troubles- I haven't been on much (at all) RL has taken back over;some bits not so good and a couple of bits absolutely lovely....I have had a (social life)shhhhh and I have been OUT !!!! direct payments finally seem to have been working.Grin

and the weather is set to be paddling pool weather....have to get a new one as our cat trashed last year's.

signandsmile · 08/04/2011 22:15

Hey all, hey moose, that is some crappy service you got this week from school and health! But well done for getting results from some well placed stroppage..

Sign has been out to play... ds and dh at MiL's for weekend. Grin Grin

So in amongst driving them to London and coming back, I had lunch out, (alone!) supper out with a girl friend, and 2 hours sleep this afternoon..

Is there a smug emoticon?? I am spending tomorrow working on house tho...

This week went to seaside, where ds was really good (yay!) and then ill (bum!) so came home early, and dh was unable to come as was in caravan and his physical disabilites have really been playing him up, Sad

right I'm off to bed, hair cut at 8.30am tomorrow, so I will no longer look like a thelwell pony, (dumpy, plump and shaggy). Well at least not shaggy anymore, Grin

Ben10isthespawnofthedevil · 08/04/2011 22:21

Evening all!

I have had a mixed week.

Didn't get made redundant - woohoo! Grin

Don't have nerve damage in my neck/shoulder although the stabbing with electrified needles to test was probably one of the most painful experiences ever that I wasn't really expecting!

Kicked off with the school. Made formal complaint about the teacher. Let the family support worker know that it really wouldn't be constructive to have DH into school to discuss his opinions of said teacher Grin.

Moose - remind me never to mess with you!

Al1son - good news re the juvenile arthritis. Hope you get on OK with the physio

Ineedalife - Congratulations re the new school. Hope DD is very happy there. Bet the old school will be Shock

Ellenjane Am craving a curry now Envy

starfishmummy · 08/04/2011 22:21

Moose its good to have a rant and its good for us to realise that either we are not the only ones or that perhaps our own week hasn't been so bad after all.
Wink

purplepidjin · 08/04/2011 22:21

Evening all, this week I am not too tired for anything! I've just doen a mega-quick wean off one type of anti-d in order to go onto a different one. Except I've had a major side effect of the wean....

I feel fab!

So, I'm just finding it very strange to feel tired without the bone-crushing weariness that goes with. It's been a while lol

I have been rushing round like a blue-arsed fly both at work and home. I've got a new house bunny, just turned three months; and also I'm averaging one MimaPants order a week Shock so lots and lots of sewing.

Not that I should moan, but where would we be without it!

Moosie, the assume that a VW camper is the same as one of the motorhome jobbies. Just tell 'em its a panel van or a caravelle or something. You doing Elemental this weekend?

signandsmile · 08/04/2011 22:25

hey Pidg, (not gone to bed yet) Groovy that you are feeling chipper! Does the bun not chew your wiring? How does he get on with the cat?

signandsmile · 08/04/2011 22:26

sorry meant house wiring not your personal wiring... Grin

purplepidjin · 08/04/2011 22:33

Not yet, but we only got him on Tuesday. He's got confident enough to explore the living room if we put him there, and he spends the night in the spare room so he's confident there but he's carried round the rest of the house so far. He loves burrowing behind my boxes of fabric, and we just had a tug of war between us over the phone bill...

The cat mostly ignores him, but she's getting used to it. I don't quite trust them together so he'll be attending his first car show tomorrow. He quite likes a silflay in the park of an evening Grin
