Hey, I've never started this before.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the weather, and looking forward to lots of time off with the kids . I had a good week, except when DH locked my keys in the car and went off to work with the spare set, just before school drop off and work for me. It was the DC I support statement review too! Aaagh.

Moose could be anaemia, when I was first working in a hospital in a research lab, I was allowed into theatre to watch where my tissue came from. I passed out - they all thought it was too much blood Hmm saw much more in theatre when doing work experience, no, twas anaemia. couldn't stand up for the next month or so, whilst the doc refused to give me any iron tablets until he found the root cause!
Was never allowed back in theatre though :(!
Hope you feel better soon, and happy birthday to the boys :)

Argh! What with all the fainting and feeling decidedly odd the cake had taken a very sad turn for the worst. I should have been sensible and scaled it down, but I so wanted to do it for ds1. Sad

I've run out of the right colour yellow icing (tried to save money and ordered exactly what I needed instead of adding a spare pack like I usually do), mixed some more myself and come up with a completely different colour - and I still haven't done the bloomin' things arms. Gah!

The other problem is also of my own making - didn't leave the cake to settle before decorating because I left it too late to start, so it decided to settle big time once the icing was on instead - cue something now resembling Pichu having been in a bad accident involving much of his head. Sad

I have had enough of the damn cake now - I hate it when they go wrong like this, its almost impossible to rescue them satisfactorily and even if you manage to cobble something together you're never happy with it. Angry and Sad

If I do put a picture up - I can guarantee it will be taken from a distance. Grin

Will get some pics of dd's Gaston the Ladybird cake up though - now that was a cake I really enjoyed doing and it came out really well.

Why does my body always chose to let me down at the most inconvenient times possible.

Thanks for all the advice and support, am doing most of the cake decorating sitting down, truth is, I'd much rather be lying than sitting though.

Haven't wrapped ds's presents yet either. [bad Mum emoticon]

Moose I'm in awe of you actually doing a Pokeman cake in the first place. Anything you manage would be better than my previous Ben 10 omnitrix effort. I thought I did well last night to actually bake my dad a cake without missing out one of the ingredients and "icing" it to a fashion ie smearing melted chocolate all over and then smearing it by mistake into a mess.

Hope you are feeling better today

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/04/2011 08:38

moose, I'm sure the cake will be fine and ds will love it, at least with pokemon you can always say he's just been in a battle and was injured Grin Hope you all have a lovely day and happy birthday to ds!

Thanks guys.

Well the cake was - er ... interesting. The face and feet were all good, decided to ice on the outline on the arms as that's pretty much what the picture I was working from looked like anyway - but the ears! Blush

Left them to dry and harden overnight, put them on this morning and they just broke in half and fell off. My fault - should have used gumpaste instead of sugarpaste. I'll know better than to try and cut corners or save money next time.

Fortunately, ds1 saw the funny side of it and (you were spot on Ninja Wink) said it looked like it had been in a tough pokemon battle - bless him.

Anyway, its cut and half scoffed now, so all's well that ends well.

Ds has had quiet by good birthday, got everything he asked for, plus a heap of spending money. His best friend came round for a few hours to play with all his new games. They purloined my laptop to play a couple of online games and then stuffed their faces with triple helpings of macaroni cheese, followed by apple pie. He is now outside with dh, ds2 and dd bouncing around on a space-hopper. Grin

Still not feeling too chipper today. No more fainting, but still seeing stars - even when sitting down and having lots and pins and needles up and down my left hand and arm and left foot and leg and to a much lesser extent my right arm and leg as well. I know I should go and see the GP, but I can't face being fobbed off or told its just anxiety.

Ah glad the day went well. It sounds as though the cake was appreciated despite it not being how you wanted it to be!
I know what you mean about the docs but perhaps worth a trip just so they can take your blood pressure etc and make sure you ok?
I don't know if you suffer from anxiety as not been around here long but I suffered really bad when I was growing up (hmmm, got me wondering now DS1 clearly got similar issues). No help from docs apart from sick notes when needed extensions for my essays. Great.
Hope you get some much needed rest tonight.

Dietcoke, I have suffered from anxiety in the past - was agoraphobic as a teenager and had some anxiety ishoos in my early twenties, but I'm 40 now and while I am definitely under a lot of stress at the moment - I really don't think its anxiety or stress related. It just doesn't feel that way.

Its all a bit complicated and confused further by my CFS/ME symptoms. I call it that now so people know what I mean, but waaaay back when I was dx'd it was PVFS and came with the horrible nickname of 'yuppie flu'. I have never been back to pursue an up-to-date dx. There's nothing they can do to help anyway, so I manage it on my own these days. I don't think my current GP has ever looked far enough back in my notes to even notice I was dx'd with it. Hmm

Justabout, thanks - but you really wouldn't have been that impressed if you'd seen it! Grin Tasted nice though - not bad for a gluten free madeira, if I do say so myself.

Oh - just remembered, NO SCHOOL RUN TOMORROW MORNING! Yay!
