Hi everyone, hope you all don't mind me starting the thread again?

happy to report the snot fairy has departed from the sign household! yay! Grin
dh has been up to his mums for 3 days this week, saw all his friends and basically got pampered by his mum... so he is a happy bunny, and ds has been a little star while daddy was away.

week has been good, although the marking is mounting up, Hmm and I am cooking for a dozen on Sunday (birthday next week)

How have all your weeks been?

"Ellen* anti depressants to hopefully address some of the anxiety. I feel such a failure tbh, medication has been suggested in one form or another since dx at three but I've worked on behavioural strategies and we've managed a lot. It's hard to accept that I'm unable to help him sort the anxiety. But we'll do the medication to take the edge off the anxiety and then he'll start CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and hopefully he'll gain some coping strategies.

asdx2 it's that feeling that as you are 'the mummy' you 'should' be able to make it ok... but you are doing the best you can for him, drugs or not, and if they help him manage the anxiety, then it is worth it... I have family member who really found CBT useful in her OCD/anxiety.

I am officially an old fart... as itis 9.30 on a friday night and I am off to bed... nite all,
sign signing off.

thanks moose, have arranged for her half sister to come over tomorrow to help put together the new climbing frame and then she's going to back to play with her at her house for an hour (if i can get her to go) so i can have a little break.

Night sign, I won't be far behind you tonight.

asdx2 sign is right, you've looked at and tried all the options and you are making the best decision you can for him in the current circumstances. With your support the CBT will help a lot, as you said the medication will help to bring his anxiety down to a manageable level enough for him to be able to focus on the CBT work.

It is hard to accept that sometimes we can't make it all better for them, but all we can do is do the best we can to help them through whatever it is they have to go through.

My ds did some basic CBT at the beginning of this academic year and even though it was very basic and he wasn't able to fully engage with the process it still helped him to get some of his school related anxieties in perspective and I do think he has coped better with some of the school stuff since then.

I'm back and very full of curry. Has everyone gone to bed?

Sorry, ASDx2, I just had the blood rhesus injection thingy I had after each pgcy in my head. Being a bit thick. Hope your DS gets great results.

Have fun assembling, Marne! Hope it will bring DD out of it a bit.

Goodnight all.
