bettyboop63 · 19/02/2011 15:29

lol yes we need to chain ourselves to railings or something but considering how they treat our DC i doubt if unless affects them personally they will notice us omg just had an epiphany... get as many of our children as possible and go to HP and take them all in at once certainly get us all on National news and all the newspapers grrrr

Spinkle · 19/02/2011 15:37

oh yes - we could show them exactly what an 'invisible disability' is like.

bullet234 · 19/02/2011 15:45

Oh ha ha ha Hmm.

"Does your policy option/proposal have an impact on??

Social impacts

Health and well-being NO
Human rights NO "

It must be nice to live in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Lokovatoress · 19/02/2011 17:58

How cynical must they be to write black on white that this has no health and wellbeing and no human rights implications?
What about families, children, spouses? Mental health?

I read the document and it actually says that the recurring annual costs will be £1350 and the total annual costs £1450 millions while total recurring annual benefits will be £1250. So it will be continuously more costly to administer compared to the savings they do to kick disabled people off DLA??? Basically it is a transfer of money from disabled people to the consultants who will be running reassessments.

Maybe this just gives enough time for their friends to win those contracts.

aLegonEachCorner · 19/02/2011 18:04

Oh God....I haven't the stomach to look at it, yet. Talk about ostriches and sand!!

It's taken so bloody long to be awarded it (a month ago) and now, will have to justify and fight for it all over again?!

Shame on this government and shame on Cameron for letting us think he at least had an understanding of children's disability and it's effect on the family and life.

starterfor10 · 19/02/2011 18:19

Unless I have read the wrong version it says they are going to start with the 16 to 64 age group in 2013 and are considering reassessing children and over 64s.In the mean time I am sure that various charities will make a big noise.

wraith · 19/02/2011 20:02

yes but its still a problem and starting with does not mean exculsivly to the goal is to scrap dla completly which means once they get all the autistics pairaplegics and others into

a you can work bracket they start on the children . can your child a breathe by themself..
b move at all. if yes to either of those they can work...

there moving goalposts and changing what is and isnt a disability we do need to raise a fuss and let our positions be known or as the old holocost poem went

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

while its not quite as bad as that its still wrong and should be spoken out about ive made my views plain on this in a number of places
i hope you all do the same

Well said, Wraith. Who is going to listen to charities? It is big society now - we should ask for charitable handouts now, perhaps in exchange of washing dishes at the benefactors. Voluntary of course.

Are we in denial? We are so entangled in caring for DC that we loose track of time - DC are growing into adults fast.

What is being done to encourage employment of people with disabilities? I here a lot that employing women is too expensive because of maternity benefits, health and safety is a pain, it is too expensive to fire employees...

Here is a thought - why do you need to pay a minimum wage if you can have the disabled volunteering for lower rate DLA?

aLegonEachCorner · 20/02/2011 13:16

Oh God.... what kind of a society is this? Big Society? You can shove it up your arse, David. Big F*ing Mess, more like.

Our kids will be young adults sooner than we think. Are they to be forever condemned to scratching/eeking our a bloody existence?

And how many of us, not in a position to volunteer because we're too busy caring for our disabled and working little, low paid jobs to make ends meet? How many of us will then, at the end of a long day have the bloody energy to run a care centre or organise activity days for our kids who can't access what's there for "normal" people.

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 14:24

Well it was always going to be thus as they hired ATOS ages ago.

I'd like to think that the election is the ky but Labour seem to agree witha lot of this; nonetheless I do think lobbying Labour to ask them to prpose an alternative is the ONLY workable option now.

Fuckers.

No leonie, kids are not included: that's yet to be decided.

DS1 won't qualify for DLA at 16; DH and I are talking about asking him to leave at 18 becuase we already struggle to cope as it is, without the money for safety measures we can't do it. DS3 is safe until 2016 so my CA is as well, but as he can walk and talk I assume he will become a forgotten part of society; completely unable to work or keep safe but without and safety net as well. I;ve seen people online talking about suicide when ATOS come, or taking their kids over a bridge with them if they get ill: I wouldn't have the guts but could see the argument for it being a kindness comapared to a state where they don't exist.

starterfor10 · 20/02/2011 15:47

Scram why do you think your DS won't qualify at 16? My DS is just 16 and has only had DLA for a few months. Does that mean he will lose it again?

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 16:16

Starter the new rules seem far tighter; I don;t honestly think someone with HFA will be likely to get it BUT that's guesswork adn I don;t mean to scare anyone sorry.

It will be a case of wait and see; I know I will struggle with ds1 anyway this year as despite his need for an SNU etc he has exhausted the supply of NHS professionals so not many to write his reports.

wraith · 20/02/2011 17:40

im a hfa adult, one reason im so frightened.

the coilition seems to have blinkers on there way to cut the defficit is wrong and immoral

no jobs are being made no effort beign made to explain how thell get people into work

the economy is crap there are no jobs for un qualified people

there is an option they havent considered to make jobs and to make the economy grow

offer substantial tax breaks to large corperations to bring manufacturing and control facilitys back.

im mostly housebound due to anxiaty and getting lost and other less fun problems.
i cant deal with bieng around people so what kind of job am i expected to find.....

most who lose dla will find themselves out of work out of house and out of hope :(
