Ds2 is managing looking forward to Christmas without getting anxious

He chose a present for his dad and his therapist ALL ON HIS OWN!

He helped decorate the tree.

He enjoyed the cinema yesterday and kissed me all the way through Grin

Merry Christmas to everyone here.

Please list your reason to feel festive if you can....

HOw lovely, pagwatch Smile

this year, I am a proud mum at Christmas because:

dd1 was Mary in her school nativity (dh and I were pleased as punch she was starring - even when we remembered she is the ONLY girl in her school Grin Wink)

not only did she take part in said nativity, she was bloody ace ("the baby is called Chees-us")

dd2 sat beautifully and watched the nativity ("dd1 is in a tivoli play!" )and joined in the carols at the end

I won a Molten Brown gift set in the raffle Grin

dd1 is looking forward to decorating the tree later

dd1 has got the hang of sequencing - she has been going through the Christmas chocs saying "dd1 has one today, dd2 has one on Friday, then dd1 on Saturday, then dd2 on Sunday" etc Grin Grin

silverfrog · 23/12/2010 12:23

Mists · 23/12/2010 12:49

DS (3.5) slept for nine hours last night doubling his best-ever uninterrupted stint.

He wasn't scared of Santa this year, hugged him and said "hello"

He can see the point of opening presents and cards.

Lovely thread Pagwatch Xmas Smile

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/12/2010 13:03

Ds2 is actually looking forward to Christmas .. And over the year he has lots more emotion words.. So has been able to communicate annoyed, frustrated , excited where needed instead of just going into meltdown :)

siblingrivalry · 23/12/2010 13:22

Lovely thread Smile
I am grateful because dd is happily settled in her new school and it's been the best place we could ever have hoped to find.

Oh, and after a looooooooot of work, she has recently demonstrated empathy on a few occasions Grin

Merry Christmas everyone x

anonandlikeit · 23/12/2010 15:20

Lovely thread! DS2 has taken to his new TA & Teacher so well he is less anxious at school.

We've managed to half his appnts this year by stretching out the gap between them all. I think we had November completely appnt free!

And DS2 seems interested in xmas a little bit this year.

Oh and DS1 is just brilliant too Grin

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 23/12/2010 16:27

We finally got back into Gatwick. God I know this sounds awful and it was, but DS managed a 10 hour flight delay with at worst a bit of whinging and no major meltdowns.

Our flight was supposed to leave at 3pm, but left at 1am the following morning and ds was so excited, patient and well behaved that I even braved and got away with waking him after he had been asleep for 30mins so he could experience getting on the plane and take off, and also just in time to land, and he didn't disappoint. I don't think many NT children would have done as well as ds. I am SO unbelievably proud of him.

Sorry. I know a bit of a strange thing to be happy about.

Other stuff. He and dd (2yrs 3 months Hmm) managed to take part in the same nativity play and although neither of them really sang, they stayed put, did some actions and didn't mess it up Grin

pagwatch · 23/12/2010 17:06

Oh god bless us everyone Xmas Grin.

Love baby cheesus.....

fightingtheurgetoscream · 23/12/2010 17:34

Took ds 'up Lahndaan' to see the lights and he loved it. Didn't mind the crowds too much and didn't really worry about the train either. Very proud of him.

nameymacnamechanger · 23/12/2010 17:41

nice thread Smile

I am very pleased that because of our new dog DS is now starting conversations with people instead of screaming and running away, and I am getting away with using his maclaren major less.

He also has written me the most beautiful slushy marvellous christmas card in the whole world. It is all different coloured words, hearts, kisses and everything. This also makes me grateful for his marvellous TA who I imagine encouraged said xmas card.

I'm feeling very proud of him right now.

Well I am grateful this evening as I have actually got DS to go to sleep at a reasonable time without a major tantrum for the first time in, well, ages.

And generally because (all going to plan) he will have a brother or sister in 7 months or so who will hopefully be a lovely playmate and encourage him in lots of ways.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmasx

anonandlikeit · 23/12/2010 20:40

congratulations badkitty! Grin

sphil · 23/12/2010 21:07

What a lovely thread.
This year I am grateful because
DS2 is now going to the loo independently, reliably and (something I thought I would never type) with no mess!

He has learnt to throw

He has developed a brilliant relationship with DS1

yoshysmum · 23/12/2010 22:27

This year I am grateful because

for the first time ever ds is starting to be able to describe his feelings.

He can ride his trike.

he is a lovely boy who I wouldn't be withoutGrin

fatzak · 23/12/2010 22:37

I haven't posted much on MN SN board for the last few months because DS is almost seizure free since starting the ketogenic diet and I've been busy enjoying that!

I am so so bloody grateful that we were able to get him on it, because last year at this time things were just awful. And they just got worse and worse at the beginning of 2010 until he started the diet in May.

Merry Christmas everyone Smile

Sidge · 23/12/2010 22:42

Lovely thread Xmas Smile

This year I am grateful because:

DD2 has started to speak, and has become dry in the day.

She took part in her school nativity and had a speaking role, she even stood up and said her line! (The last 2 years she wouldn't even sit with her classmates let alone join in or do anything)

She has stayed quite well and not had any illnesses.

She told me today she's very excited that Father Christmas is coming to bring her some Peppa Pig things and a Mr Tumble DVD. Thank goodness he got that letter! Wink

FanjoForTheMincePies · 23/12/2010 22:50

I am happy because DD has started enjoying cuddles, tickles and being chased, is constantly seeking my attention and her speech is starting to come back, albeit slowly. I got in the car tonight and she said 'hiya, hello, hello, hello'!

nightmarebeforechristmas · 23/12/2010 22:52

dd is better after being poorly all week.......shame ds now has it, but he is 18 and can talk....so hey ho
chickensaresafehere..brilliant

FanjoForTheMincePies · 23/12/2010 22:55

Oh I am also happy because DD got a present from two girls at nursery, and all the little girls loved her party dress, and ahe was singing and dancing at the party. she also is excited about Santa and presents this year!

1980Sport · 23/12/2010 23:08

This year I am grateful because I discovered the SN group on Mumsnet! Thank you to everyone who had responded to my posts, I've received such wonderful help and support, I've bought some brilliant SN books and great toys all recommended by you! I've not felt alone for the first time in months, I hope in 2011 that I can give something back as I gain in knowledge and experience.

I'm also grateful that DS's MRI was clear, that he's sitting unaided, rolling, babbling and standing aided (all things he wasn't doing this time last year)

And...I'm also grateful for the safe arrival of ds2!

Love and Merry Christmas to you and your families xx
