you realize if you won 7 million in the lottery you wouldn't give any away as you actually could use it all.

MISDEE I NEED PIKACHU SOURCING HELP

^^^

The above sentence says it all really. It is a NEED!

:) love this thread

When you see NT parents at the end of their tether and you reckon it's a good swap for a few hours so you could get a break!

When you speak in the same manner to some professionals as you do your sn child.. Because you can see they aren't actually keeping up with your information.

When you explain to people ( again some professionals) that there is a huge difference between having language and functional use of communication... And what that difference is... And that you just rattle this off not even thinking about it!

chocoholic · 06/11/2010 13:55

You make the same dinner for the 158th night in a row.

bigcar · 06/11/2010 14:00

you have perfected that back off or else look for when you park in a disabled bay with your disabled child and some twat thinks you shouldn't be there.

everytime you get angry you talk really really really quietly in a low slow tone of voice which forces the other person to listen to you.

you swear waaaaaaaaay too much when there's no kids around to make up for all the bad language you can't use when the throw stuff at you Grin

When other children your child's age shock you, by saying things like "Are you ok? You look a little bit tired Ms Colditz."

My jaw actually dropped, I felt it. I'd never heard something so alien in all my life!

1980Sport · 06/11/2010 21:05

You have an OT, Physio and Speech Therapist on your Xmas present list and not because they're your friends!!!

purplepidjin · 06/11/2010 21:43

You start a small business making trousers for SN kids thinking you've found a niche and, 2 weeks later, find another niche making lightweight, pretty weighted blankets and vests :D

sumum · 07/11/2010 09:38

You get one of the disabled fast track passes at a theme park and and have a twinge of guilt because you feel envious of the people in the queue!

You spend half the amount of money at christmas on your sn child than your nt child simply because you have no idea what to get him.

You know the price of a second hand maclaren elite and you are wondering whether it is actully worth it instead of waiting for wheelchair services

5inthebed · 07/11/2010 13:00

When you make a bowl of weetabix for the 5th time that day.

tallwivglasses · 07/11/2010 21:10

So glad I caught up with this brilliant thread.

When there's locks each side of nearly every door.

When you build higher and higher shelves while predicting the eventual need of a ceiling pulley system.

When every trip or activity requires a mental risk-assessment.

When you're having a lovely moment with dc and feel a sudden shudder about the future...then brush it aside and carry on.

anonandlikeit · 07/11/2010 22:43

You're the only parent in the playground not comparing reading levels & spelling test results.
You get an entire parents evening alocated all to yourself & discussing ds2.

You can go shoe shopping for ds2 without him... just take his splints!

You buy a car based on the size of the boot alone.

Willmum · 07/11/2010 23:18

You spend umpteen hours of your life writing a parental statment for a statment which you know will get turned down, just because you feel you have to!

lagaanisace · 07/11/2010 23:59

Your 7 year old NT son stares at a child behaving 'unusually' and asks how old he is, then asks, 'Is he autistic?' and upon confirmation says proudly, "My brother's five, and he's autistic, too".

MistsAndMellow · 08/11/2010 00:23

These are brilliant, DH and I really smiled at the line of alphabetised plastic dinosaurs Smile

I tried to post a picture of a sight which greeted me in my living room a week ago but had technical problems - resolved now.

It's the first picture on my profile.

5inthebed · 08/11/2010 09:59

Love the perfectly lined up pigs.

DS2 doesn't line things up often, but when he does, he likes to make very long lines. He once got up ithout my knowledge and lined a whole pack of pringles from one end of the living room to the other and back again. He then sat and ate them one by one Grin
