It's a mother singing about how wonderful her daughter is!

Are you all in bed?

Or have I just trod on Arsenic's toes?

[hgrin] Im up...just got the DCs to bed.

IndigoBell · 29/10/2010 20:36

I'm up!

And I have very good news. I finally got around to taking DD to the Behaviour Optometrist (BABO) - and guess what he found... Her close vision is very bad and she's getting Bifocals!!!!! And start vision therapy.

I can't believe it. She's already been to 2 different opticians, who both said her vision was fine. And I didn't have any concerns over her vision - was just desperate.

(She is 7 and can't read or write at all and I have been so worried about her...)

Nah, was just waiting for the thread to start... How's everyones week been?

My ds went for riding for the disabled assessment today, they were lovely, and he got on really well, was so thrilled.

we had a big grin on his face and cos nanny was down to stay for a few days she got to see it too.

StarkAndWitchesWillFindYou · 29/10/2010 20:42

signandsay · 29/10/2010 20:47

ds doesn't get out of bed, Grin but had just screamed for an hour cos he didn't want to go to sleep... hard mummy and daddy just kept going in and out every 10 mins.

but finally he gave in, and dropped off

Evening all

Dh had to wrestle ds1 into his pjs tonight while he fought to get back downstairs. This, despite him having a raging migraine (ds not dh).

He's never actually physically fought with either of us before. Sad

He seriously didn't want to go to bed though, but going in past performance, if he hadn't gone there and then he would have started vomiting. He was still insisting he was ok and wanted to come downstairs and read his book, despite not being able to see straight and describing his visual disturbance to me.

Is weird actually, he gets a really clear green stripe down the middle of his face ever single time he gets a migraine. I've never seen anything like it, but its useful in that it gives us a heads up about what's going on, as ds has no clue what's going on with his own body. (He had a vomiting virus last week, threw up three times in a row and then straight away said, "what am I having for tea?". Confused

Not all bad though. The boys had another pilates session today and it went really well. We have a programme of exercises to do for 5-10 minutes a day over the next few weeks and will then have another series of 1-2-1 sessions during the Christmas holidays. Am actually feeling like this might really help with ds1's core, lumbar and upper back strenght.

Apologies if my typing is rubbish, I managed to get a metal spike jammed under my fingernail earlier today (don't ask) and its now swollen up, purple and full of blood, so it hurts just a tad to type.

signandsay · 29/10/2010 21:07

Eeuu! that sounds really painful!

TheArsenicCupCake · 29/10/2010 21:12

Moose .. Ouch on the finger!

But glad the boys are liking pilates :)

This week has just been a hotbed of madness.. I've had to wait till the ds's are with their dad for his bit of the holidays before I could even start thinking about work.. Gah!

But I have managed to replace ds2s school shoes for exactly the same pair.. Minus the damage and without him being with me :)

on a more crappy note.. Today was payday and having done all that needs to be done my account looks really crap ( don't you just hate it coming in and imediately going straight back out again!) :(
And I forgot to replace the home phone that I accidently threw across the kitchen ( slippy wet hands)
onto the tiled floor ( this is not a recommended combination).. So I've had to plug in the non walky round one.. And now am stuck in one place when the phone goes.. Which is quite a lot as I work from home!

There I feel better after that vent :)

moosemama · 29/10/2010 21:26

Thanks for the sympathy about my finger. I am of course getting none from dh AND he's currently stuffing his chops with MY chocolate peanuts and raisins. Angry

What happened to ds2's school shoes Arsenic? Ds1 flattens the heels down on his until he's practically wearing mules. Never fails to wreck a new pair inside of a fortnight. I bought one of the Startright gauges off their website and measure all mine myself at home now - sooo much easier.

fightingthezombies · 29/10/2010 21:30

Ds still not asleep - teeny tiny ted has gone missing Sad.

Lougle · 29/10/2010 21:32

Ouch moosemama

Indigobell, that's amazing news! DD1 went to the hospital for an eye test a few months ago. She is long sighted, and the doc was going to give her glasses, but the optometrist was absolutely sure she could see, so he decided not to Confused

I have the return of severe headache - won't quite call it a migraine yet, but it is creeping down my nose into my cheek Sad

Today has been a bad day. DD1 has been 'full-on' for a couple of days now. Her walking is getting worse, behaviour, she says she doesn't feel well, so we have an appointment with the Paed next week and hopefully Monday's EEG will reveal the cause of this latest deterioration.

IndigoBell · 29/10/2010 21:38

Lougle - try another optometrist? I can't believe how variable all the professionals are.

Really excited about DD going to school on Mon. I wonder how much diff her glasses will make??????

TheArsenicCupCake · 29/10/2010 21:47

Moose he just wrecks his shoes very very quickly!

woolytree · 29/10/2010 21:56

Wine anyone? [hgrin]

moosemama · 29/10/2010 21:57

Oh yes Indigobell, I missed your post somehow. That's fantastic news. As a matter of fact, I have been googling BABO myself today, as the inclusion lady that observed ds felt there was a strong possibility of visual stress. Nearest place to us charges £175.00 for the initial examination then £45 per session of treatment though. Shock

Lougle, sorry you've had a bad day and dd is struggling. Really hope you get some answers on Monday. Try taking ibuprofen and paracetamol together for the migraine. My consultant used to say they were a better combination that most of the over the counter meds.

signandsay · 29/10/2010 22:01

nite all, off to bed, as am officially 'knackered old fart' (ds was in our bed from 4.30am)

Ineed2 · 29/10/2010 22:20

I got a new job today or should I say another job!![hgrin][hgrin].
I have joined a staffing agency to try and see if it will fit round OH's shifts. Can't get any child care at the moment so one of us has to do the school run everyday.
I am excited and chuffed[hsmile].

fightingthezombies · 29/10/2010 22:28

Congrats Ineed! What do you do?

Ineed2 · 29/10/2010 22:33

I work with children [hgrin]. I have worked in loads of different settings but the one I am currently in is not really my cup of tea so I fancy a change.
I quite like doing supply because you don't get so bogged down with staffroom politics, iykwim.

Lougle · 29/10/2010 22:35

moosemama - unfortunately I am a bit beyond the ibuprofen/paracetamol combo. I am on a list of drugs and am waiting for a neurologist appt.

fightingthezombies · 29/10/2010 22:35

Good for you - must be quite rewarding. I wouldn't have the patience - my 1 ds drives me to distraction!

Ineed2 · 29/10/2010 22:40

It is rewarding and it is very difierent from being with your own kids. I do love it, I really like the older ones that you can have a raport with.

Believe me all 3 of mine drive me nuts and the eldest doesn't even live here now [hgrin].

WetAugust · 29/10/2010 22:52

Evening all.

Can I join the sane people's thread before I totally self-combust?
