hi, any chance he would do after school clubs, my older son loved chess too and often went to chess club even insisted on entering the school competition or homework club if he loves maths that much lol! My ds also loved cross country club. At least there would be adult supervision around.

Hi essbee,

My DS1 wants to have friends as well, but he's also not terribly good at making them.

Sorry you're having such a tough time with your DS.

I know he goes to chess club - does he go to any other afterschool activities?

(it's dinosaur, btw)

Gosh Jayzmum - puts my problems into perspective - I know you have been thru it recently. Hope "they" manage to get you some help.

Crikey, JM, just read your post about J's meltdown and your injuries. It never lets up for you, does it? I hope you do manage to get some help from SS, it's about time.

It's really difficult isn't it. I'm lucky in that I have the option of leaving DS1 with DH (also very anti-social!).

Sounds like a good idea to go prepared like that. Are there going to be people there who know you well and will lend a hand if you need it?

Oh, total sympathies, we live in dread of losing whatever is DS1's favourite obsession at the time. He got terribly upset in the summer when we were in Ireland because he had left (wait for it) the inside of a toilet roll at my aunt's house. No other inside of a toilet roll would do, it had to be that particular one. My dad ended up getting her spare key and taking him to her house to look for it - miraculously he found it too.

Anyway, glad the party didn't go too badly but about the shenanigans on Monday morning.
