Poor DD, no 121, her little friend that used to help has been moved to another class

So she is wandering around lost, late for lessons, doing no work when she gets there

She won't go to Student Services, "Can't you sort it out mummy?"

If they continue with the 'CP'line then our family & my job

I phoned Parent Partnership to talk about removing her from school & the fact that if she is hurt I will very publicly sue the school for not protecting her - they were a bit Shocked

I would explicitly ask them toput in writing what the CP issues are

Have you spoken to CAB?

KatyMac · 08/09/2010 15:08

No - not CAB

Wrt CP when I asked they said there were no issue I asked why they had been brought up & they said well there might be

The treatment for conversion disorder is psychotherapy. On top of that she should still be supported at school.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 08/09/2010 15:16

and DLA isn't diagnosis dependent. It's need dependent.

They sound useless

popsycal · 08/09/2010 16:26

Katy-Ireally think you need to be making detailed notes - names, dates, times, quotes.

And keep on fighting. As saintlydame says, the treatment is psychotherapy

Is there a PALs linked to the hospital?

I am not an SN expert so my suggestions may be useless. Just trying to think what I would be doing in your situation

I think I would be goibng down the lines of asking why they are not treating her diagnosed 'conversion disorder' with psychotherapy

popsycal · 08/09/2010 16:27

I also think if you asked them to confirm in writing the CP/none-CP issues, they would back down....

Yes although the treatment is psychotherapy it doesn't mean she's doing it on purpose!

Have you seen proper experts?

bigcar · 08/09/2010 17:45

katy, I'm sorry but it sounds like they are using the cp to scare you off. If they had solid concerns you would have been investigated by now. As far as basic safety around school goes, I would consider reporting them to ofsted, they take safety of the children very seriously.

popsycal · 08/09/2010 18:13

read firstsentence inthe abstract ofthis

bpsu.inopsu.com/studies/Conversion_disorder/Protocol_Card-Conversion_%20Disorder.pdf

KatyMac · 08/09/2010 20:28

Thanks for all this - I can't read the abstract but they are calling it functional vision loss rather than conversion disorder now

DD came in - she has spoken to Student Services; thank goodness - hopefully they will listen to her

The CAF is meeting next Friday; I am dreading that

Sorry I didn't mean to sound dismissive but I am struggling so much with this; I had calmed down considerably during the summer and it has all gone pear-shaped again after 1 day

OP posts:
saintlydamemrsturnip · 08/09/2010 21:09

functional vision loss and conversion disorder are in my understanding the same thing.

Jon Stone looks well worth contacting. It's amazing what having someone on your side can do.

KatyMac · 08/09/2010 21:13

I know but he is for adults - do I just email him?

OP posts:
saintlydamemrsturnip · 08/09/2010 21:17

Yes that can work. Or usually they have a secretary you can ring. They might give you details of someone who can help.

I have emailed countless doctors/researchers over the years. About 75% reply and are very helpful.

KatyMac · 08/09/2010 21:27

I googled him

I thought email because it's easier
