DS (v. fussy eater) ate most of his children's meal when we were out today, not just the chips as usual...

lourobert · 31/08/2010 20:35

Thats lovely Smile

My mum had my son today and promised that when I got home from work he will have mastered a new skill. I thought nothing more of it until I returned home and my mum proudly showed me how she had taught ds to play with this toy that had been sat in the cupboard (a cube that changes song when you flip it over) and there he was flipping the cube very purposefully!!

It was great Smile

DS has recently learnt the new skill of pushing, (instead of picking things up and dropping them) and have very obviously made a jump in the cause and effect dept!

DH is on annual leave which means I get more MN ME time!

Gait trainer should arrive sometime in the week so able to get DS on his feet without holding him all the time and breaking my back!

It's DS's Birthday on Thursday (a bit bitter sweet)

IT'S SWIM DAY TOMORROW!!!!

only small things but they keep me going!

sneezecake · 31/08/2010 20:52

yes also v annoyed about FB!

2shoes · 31/08/2010 20:52

awww that is cute,
I am worried about Bradders as he is a couple of years younger than her(they are at last doing classes for ability not age, which means he is a clever lad,......but he will be her toy boy!!)

I took DS to meet his bestie friend for lunch. He didnt know he was going (didnt dare tell him). They met at school but bf is going to a new school this term.

They were so lovely together and it makes DS so happy. DS has ASD, LD and Auditory Processing Disorder. BF has severe cerebral palsy, no LD. DS is hyper and has difficulty understanding language, BF is a wheelchair user and has very little speech.

Yet they giggle and hug and laugh and love each other.

DS managed about 2 hrs in a busy resturant.
It was worth the almighty tantrums and sulks we have had all evening Smile

roundthebend4 · 31/08/2010 20:55

hehe all making me smile

Mind 2shoes was it not your dd who kepy stroking some mans bum

Eloise73 · 31/08/2010 20:56

Great thread!! My 2.9 ASD daughter turned to me and said 'It's bedtime, milky please' and proceeded to grab her blanket, open the sitting room door and made her way upstairs to her bedroom where she was awaiting the requested milk!

She has taken herself to bed before but this was more complex and much more communicative than she normally is :)

lourobert · 31/08/2010 21:03

what a great friendship MrsDevere!!

We have Ds's new hideous contraption bathing aid and it made bath time tonight so much easier for my back and more comfortable for DS

bettyswoobies · 31/08/2010 21:05

ds1 today said mummy i'm a bit hungry, my tummy is grumpy. Yesterday when he said he was hungry I asked him if his tummy was rumbling obviously thats his version of it.
Also said I dont want to leave the playground I want to stay for ever and ever. 5 seconds later he said Diego dvd when we get home? Grin

RaggedRobin · 31/08/2010 21:50

Grin loving the grumpy tummy. my tummy gets grumpy sometimes too.

Sidge · 31/08/2010 21:56

Lovely thread Smile

We have been working all summer on toilet training.

DD2 (aged 6.5) has been dry all day without any accidents for more than a week!

I'm so proud of her. (Even though her new found interest in going to the loo means every single place we go to, we have to go to the toilets whether she needs a wee or not...)

rebl · 31/08/2010 21:57

Grin. Poor Bradly and I just love the grumpy tummy Smile.

DS put his school uniform on today for a "fashion show" with some friends. This is a big break through for him. Until today he's refused to try it on at all.

5inthebed · 31/08/2010 22:02

These are lovely stories.

DS2 made me giggle by singing a song wrong. We were in Tesco and he startd singing "Jaffa cake, jaffa cake, Bakers man" instead of pat-a-cake. Made me giggle for the rest of the shopping when I'd usually be grumpy and stressed.

2shoes · 31/08/2010 22:20

roundthebend4 no not my dd, she has never done that to my knowledge

Me and my friend H kept an eye on a lady's DS on the disabled platform at V the other week. We asked to keep in touch as she was a lovely woman, and she's got back in touch saying that her DS (ASD) is now willingly offering her his hand to hold, after being told to hold onto our hands while she went to the loo :). That makes me all smiley inside.

Oh, and I'm off back to uni soon after a summer of being bored with no job! Off to Blackpool with my mum on Thursday too :)

sphil · 31/08/2010 22:40

DS2 is pooing in the TOILET!!!! Grin

Well.....most of the time.....

phlebas · 31/08/2010 22:50

sphil that is fabulous Grin

We've had a utterly crap day but hardly ever always looking on the bright side

  • I managed to go for a walk with all three children on my own, no scary episodes at all (ignoring ds throwing sawdust in dd2's face) :)
  • ds seems to recognise the letters/phonics (upper/lowercase & some blends) not quite sure how that happened he couldn't do it last week (suspect the iphone)
  • dh's work have given ds a laptop & renewed my some of my faith in humanity :)
Lougle · 31/08/2010 23:14

DD1 said to me today

"You best Mummy whole wide world"

BialystockandBloom · 31/08/2010 23:41

Changing ds's nappy at my sister's today, her cat was asleep in the laundry basket in her bathroom, and ds first of all sang 'Five little ducks went swimming one day' to the cat, then said "[cat name] I've done a poo".

Made me smile that he just felt the need to share the information with someone Grin

What a lovely thread all round.
