Heard from summer playsheme that ds made a friend and they enjoyed spending a lot of time together. His first friend/playmate.

tiredmummyoftwo · 01/09/2010 06:24

When I asked DS 'what did you do at school today?'DS replied-'I had lunch'. This is a new thing without being prompted, the answers have always been, I played with so and so and I played with the bee. Last night he also asked for chocolate fish (grilled fish).

What a lovely thread -thanks 2shoes Smile

DD1 (AS) just amazed me-had to share. We are watching tellie and someone said 'Don't make a mountain out of a molehill'.
As always, dd asked what it meant. I said 'Well, how big is a mountain and how big is a molehill?'

I really didn't expect her to understand, but she said, 'Ah, so if I spilt something it means I shouldn't get really, really upset -just a little bit upset?'

I was thrilled! And her face just lit up when I told her how well she had done Smile

This is cheering me up! DS has started to call my mother in Italy 4 to 5 times a day, just to tell her what he is doing at the moment. He has memorized the (rather long) number, knows what button to press, and then engages in a little conversation. This is a new thing for him, and obviously my mum is completely chuffed (and even more up the Nile region than she was before).

2shoes can we have regular updates on the Bradley romance please? I think he's a lucky boy!

mariagoretti · 01/09/2010 10:49

The SN playcheme was sharing a site with the NT one. DS accidentally ended up spending 5 hours on the wrong one! He had a lovely day. The lady said, "We noticed he was a bit hyper and needed extra explanation, so we did wonder.. but we've had SN kids here before and he was having so much fun we had no trouble keeping him busy. He'd be welcome back any time!"

ds (10, sevASD/LD) and I managed a nights at a relatives! The first time since he was small enough for a cot.
I have just heard he has been allocated the senior (sn) school I had hoped for -- {smile]!!

This is a great thread it is so nice to read :)

DS was in a delightful mood this morning and giggling away to himself throughout breakfast for some reason, despite being sat in the hated breezi chair. Maybe he was happy because he was scoffing toast with peanut butter and jam (eating toast being quite a new skill). And he was picking up his beaker and drinking all by himself! And then we were putting things in an empty carton and I kept saying "in" and then he said "in" very clearly as he put something in! Admittedly it is very similar to his usual "nnn" noise and he will probably never do it again, but I am allowed a bit of poetic licence I think... So all in all a very good start to the day!

I'm pleased to announce after six weeks of hard work by all 3 of us (but mostly DS) and nearly total dedication, DS (6, ASD) can ride a bike without stabilisers and is now swimming like a fish with no aids whatsoever.

Smile that's my boy !!Smile

Larissaisonline · 01/09/2010 17:43

Ds drew a circle, triangle and square!!!
I have only seen him stabbing the paper with a pencil up until now....Shock

bigcar · 01/09/2010 18:04

I have been into dd3s school this afternoon for a meeting before she starts tomorrow. The 2 people who will be doing the 1:1 had all their paperwork to hand, had obviously read it properly Shock and really took an interest, so different from last year! AND the caretaker has painted all the uprights in the reception playground bright orange so dd3 stands a hope in hell of seeing them (she has a vi) he did the steps yellow last year so it's a bit of an assault on the eyes for me but fantastic to have it all done before she starts Smile

DS2 counted out 12 toy cars, this morning. He doesn't actually say the names of the numbers but hums them. He was also running through Mothercare car park saying "daddy daddy daddy daddy!" as we were trying to catch up with DH and DS1, this afternoon!

DS1 is currently trying to draw a computer keyboard and is making me :):):) with it!

ShadeofViolet · 01/09/2010 20:58

I love this thread :)

We have been trying to get DS to match pictures all holidays. Today he managed to match all 4 Peppa Pig pictures.

Fio- hope she really enjoys it.

Starting this term, and after essentially missing the entirety of Year 8, DS2-13 has got a place at our first choice residential EBD school (out of county) and now has a statement naming this school along with the extra therapeutic provision he needs. This victory has been a long time coming, and hard-fought, but DH and I are beginning to feel a little more cautiously optimistic for any sort of future for DS2 than we have in years.

wasuup3000 · 01/09/2010 21:23

My daughter starts year 7 tomorrow and the school have been fab. Just had her TA around at our house to see how she is and check she is all prepared for tomorrow and knows where she is going in the morning and what she is doing. :)

roundthebend4 · 01/09/2010 23:18

I'm loving this :)

mine is with all problems over no headrest from wcs yet and then not enough money to go buy even cheap carseat for ds3 to ve able use on car transport so was looking like he was not going to start school on Monday

Well got message someone has a 9-18 kg seat that we can have till either his headrest arrives or I buy a Sn one ready for new car

So ds3 will be going to school on Monday :) :)

saintlydamemrsturnip · 01/09/2010 23:29

Ds1 said 'daddy' today - once- before reverting to nannee or at a push and lot of encouragement danee.

He has one word - mummy (he's 11) and i would love to surprise dh by teaching him to say daddy.

ByTheSea · 02/09/2010 07:23

This is a great thread! I'm really happy for everyone with good news. :)

feelingbetter · 02/09/2010 08:48

DS (who is all of 2 years old) has a girlfriend in nursery Grin.

When i go to collect him, she comes to meet me, holds my hand and takes me to him. Then she walks us both back to the buggy where she supervises me strapping him in correctly.

I then must lift her up to give him a kiss (on the lips!!!!) goodbye and she stands in the window waving at us.

Mind you, DS now has a streaming cold but, if you will kiss the girls.....Grin

He's had 'mummy' for quite a long time now without reverting though hasn't he MrsT? So maybe 'Daddy' will become embedded too?

DS2's new one is 'I can't wait' (I carn wai')Probably used appropriately about half the time and the rest of the time as a sort of chant, apropos of nothing Grin.

I love 'well done car' Smile. I sometimes say that inside my head...

saintlydamemrsturnip · 03/09/2010 08:30

We have found a SALT who wants to work with ds1 Shock. We'll have to pay her but Shock Shock She knows him, so knows what she is taking on, but said how obviously he wants to communicate and how hard he tries.

roundthebend4 · 03/09/2010 09:22

Saintly that's fantastic no how hard is yo find a good salt that is willing to work with dc that are struggling with other issues to

sc13 · 03/09/2010 11:37
