I feel very restricted with places I can safely take DS but I often think it be fun to go to completely inappropriate places with a bunch of SN children with a range of socially unusual or unacceptable habits, just to be really annoying. Like...

Evensong at St Paul's Cathedral

The House of Commons gallery (obviously when they are not dossing all holidays

Glyndebourne

Dinner at The Ivy

Maybe the audience of 'Top Gear' would be good too

You can start with the story of the disciples sending children away as Jesus was tired, and him telling them to get stuffed, as they Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Oh, then there is Jesus at the last supper washing the disciples feet - ie showing them they should be servants to one another/everybody. They shouldn't just be welcoming you into the service - they should be helping you out.

The Bible is full of stories of Jesus helping people that society didn't want to know - the prostitute who washed his feet with her tears springs to mind.

I am very fortunate that the CofE church I go to are very tolerant. DS1 has learnt to sit and colour (not always quiet, but often is now) but vicar quite happy to have DS1 sat with his back to him, scribbling away. Another lady is happy to look after one LO or another on the very odd occasions I take them all. They are always looking at ways of making us more comfortable. I think they are just very pleased to actually have some regular young attenders.

another useful quote, paul not jesus tho I think, might be the bit where he says you don't say to one (rich) person 'come and sit in the nice seats, is there anything we can get you to make you more comfy' and to another (poor)scruffy person, oh you can go over there and sit on the floor. (my paraphase). All welcome, all equal,

I haven't posted on here in a while, but I have to say, this thread has really made me laugh, it cheered me up a treat. Add to your list the Butterfly farm - where I tried to take DS1 yesterday....
I'm saddened to hear that some churchgoers can be that intolerant. That's a real shame.
And it is so true that you care less and less over time about what the judgmental general public think as they look on.... as you care more about focusing on what your DS/D needs.

this thread has really made me laugh.
it has also brought back memories of a really really bad day out!

when my daughter was a bit younger she had a thing about cinderella and mirrors-
so me and my eldest daughter cheerfully took her to a stately home-where there was lots of mirrors and the place looked very much like the palace in cinderella-good idea eh!

anyway this place was very quite with lots of pleasent people milling around and on this paticcallar day-there was these models doing a photo shoot on the steps at the front of the building!

my daughter got very exited when she saw this huge ornate mirror as it looked just like the one in her dvd-and she jumped up and down in front of it saying-"mirror mirror on the wall whos the fairest of them all"-unfortunatly-the mirror didnt answer her back and i saw her face drop-this is when i got a bit worried!
she tried again-same thing happened-then all of a sudden-she swore her head off very loudly at the mirror!
the scene that followed was-every one looking at us and me and my eldest daughter dragging her out of there[she was also throwing the most spattacalar wobbler]-
we then had to drag her straight through this photo shoot and up to the gate-where i had to wrestle my daughter while the elder one called for a cab-and yes-the whole place was staring!
strangely enough-ive never fancied going there again.
