Baby wearing in the summer or pram?

I have been wearing dd in a sling since birth (sometimes a k’tan, sometimes the ergo omni 360) and I absolutely love the closeness of it. I carry her comfortably between 3 and 4 hours a day and have never felt the need for a pram before, even though she is a big baby (8 kg) But with the weather getting warmer, I think she is starting to be uncomfortable sometimes. She wakes up from her naps after 20 mins with puffy red cheeks and pulls away from me, so I have started wondering if maybe she’d enjoy being in a pram. However I am scared of losing that very special closeness & also worried I won’t be used to carry her anymore and it will become too hard after. Anyone experienced something similar?

How old is she, OP? Maybe it's something to think about for hot days? It must be a bit sticky for you, too. But if it's something she's been doing and enjoying for some time I wouldn't think it would become too hard to do again afterwards.

Maybe just babywear for a short time each day if you're both enjoying it and then go back to doing it more again in winter?

In very hot weather they can get a bit hot and bothered in the slings that completely encompass them. Might be worth looking at something more like a carrier that is slightly more 'breathable' for summer too?

Anyone else got any good ideas?

Mine used both through the summer, and six weeks in the sling in Bali where it was very warm and humid. I just let him be warm and sweaty.

Back home for this summer we've bought a mesh Tula. Is that an option?

Hebemumsnet she is 6 months. The reason I was concerned too is that she is a big girl, 8 kg. And I feel I have progressively adapted to her weight gain so I carry her nicely, but if I were to take break, maybe it would become too hard! Carrying for a little while everyday to keep the habit is a good idea though. Maybe I can do it in the morning, when it’s not too hot 🙂
Rtmhwales I hadn’t considered getting another carrier because the ergo I have is mesh so it's supposed to be a light one, but do you feel the tula one makes a big difference?

We didn't have a pushchair so caused a sling everywhere (woven wrap in my case) as she's 6months you can look at back carrying which often seems to be cooler for all involved. Her weight won't be an issue on your back even as she's get bigger. I still carry my 4.5yo in odd occasions.

If you have a local sling library they can help you with back carrying or looking at mesh slings if wanted

icclemunchy, she is still too short to go on my back unfortunately. Hopefully we’ll get there soon 🙂

No local sling library but I might make a day trip of it actually... thank you!
