Shocked at weigh in, been in complete denial

1winterblues · 04/01/2022 09:35

So I had been saying Jan was going to be a fresh start to the diet. And I knew I had a lot to lose. I thought I was about 15 / 16 stone.

Anyway kids go back to school today so today is my day 1. Weighed myself and I am actually 17st 5

I was so upset I could cry, as I know deep down I knew things were bad but to see 17st on the scales was scary.

We have booked a family holiday abroad with our best friends and their children and my best friend is a lovely size 10/12 so I always had a goal to lose weight for mid August.

In 2016 I did manage to lose 5st so I know I can do it and I am already a member of a gym and do actually go about 1 or 2 a week, but the last two years with Covid have been really stressful and I realised I have not been coping at all.

For the first time ever I had been prescribed anti depressants to help me cope with my stress but I didn't actually believe I needed them either so have not been taking them either (which is totally stupid). My relationship with my husband has not been great lately, had lots of stress at work in NHS due to impact of Covid, and we have been renovating a house and also juggle 3 kids.

I always try and be a positive person but also recognise i have been in denial.

So I have meal planned for the week. Booked my two exercise classes for the week. Also gone through my phone and found the photos of me in 2016 and will order them to be printed out so I can stick in my room and dressing table as a motivator to my target.

Does anyone with a lot to lose want to be a buddy. I will be doing SW on line as can't make any classes near me due to work.

Ah , that doesn't surprise me
I've tried a few things and the best was the Pea and Ham soup ( which I can't find anymore )
A curry was ok but the rest was vile 🤭

Happyface120 · 07/01/2022 06:59

Can I join you please? I joined SW on Monday, and am at my heaviest non pregnant weight. In fact, looking at my fitness pal, I currently weigh more than I did 2 weeks post partum with DC2 which is bloody horrifying Blush
Have stuck to plan so far, but weekend will be real test. Planning to save syns today for wine this evening
B: baked oats with berries
L: mushroom omelette with cheese as HExA
D: steak with pak choi, ginger and chilli, as much red wine as I can manage within my syns Grin
Exercise levels are usually pretty good anyway, but am making a concerted effort to do something everyday. Have a run planned with a friend this evening, and will drag kids out in rain for a long walk at some point.

Wilma55 · 07/01/2022 08:07

Sainsburys BGTY cumberland are 1syn and they do another BGTY one which is 1.5 syns.

1winterblues · 08/01/2022 13:46

How is everyone?

I find weekends quite hard normally but this weekend we are clearing up the Christmas stuff and there is so much chocolate and biscuits left it's really hard to resist.

I have had 2 hard boiled eggs and coffee for breakfast and about to have a late lunch with left overs, eggs, chicken, salad etc

I have been OK all week, used all my syns on wine last night, and now feel rough! Had baked oats for breakfast, onion soup on hob for lunch in a bit, then a plan of spiced lamb with lots of veg/ bit of couscous for dinner. No wine tonight, weigh in on Monday...

Can I join please? I'm not following SW but I'm the heaviest I've ever been at 17.7 and feel disgusting. I am such a yo-yo dieter that I am determined I need to lose weight and keep it off. At this rate I'm heading towards a heart attack 😱 I'm finding that being so overweight is impacting on my life and my mental health massively so really need to lose weight and get fit.

Good luck everyone x

Day 4 of being on plan
So tempted to get on the scales but as most likely will be different to the SW scales I'm keeping off - would hate to be disappointed

2 poached eggs asparagus for breakfast
Chicken salad at lunch
Now air frying a sweet potato to have with the left over bolognaise from last night

Can't wait for Tuesday , I've not managed a single week of healthy eating for nearly 2 years

1winterblues · 08/01/2022 15:36

Hi @clpsmum
That's how I feel. What are you going to do ?
I know my downfall is basically everything bad for me Grin - bread, real butter, biscuits cake chocolate, ice cream, fatty pork like ribs, sausages and bacon or lamb, lots of olive oil, avocados, nuts, cheese and sweet coffee / tea.

I know most of the above is ok but not in the quantities I eat Confused
SW pushes me towards not eating those things and making healthier choices.

For example for lunch i made the kids sausage sandwich, Saturday tradition after we do the housework. But I had left over morrocan chicken and vege stew with salad.

@only11monthstillxmas

Love the sound of your breakfast

Can I ask what else you cook in your air fryer? My son keeps asking for one

only11monthstillxmas · 08/01/2022 15:44

I make SW chips , lots of jacket spuds , I do fish , veggie fingers , roasted veg , bacon , sausage , corn on the cob , calamari , onion rings , lamb chops ( too messy )

That's all I can think of for now lol I'm not a great cook
Just find it easy and the best jacket spud I've ever had

1winterblues · 09/01/2022 11:36

Happy Sunday everyone

Just been to my exercise class and absolutely starving so home to shower and make eggs for brunch. It may just be an omelette

How is everyone else's day?

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 09/01/2022 20:13

Oh OP, I haven't been to any exercise classes but I did weigh and I've lost 4lbs more so I'm on the right track, which is good because yesterday I had a bit of a rubbish day and I felt quite emotionally drained so it's nice I'm moving in the right direction! You've made me want omelette for dinner tomorrow, I shall have that I think!

coldfeetmama · 09/01/2022 20:21

Well done @MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe
That's fab ! 2 bags of sugar !

Timetobuckup · 09/01/2022 20:57

Room for another one ? I will weigh in the morning but I am about 15 stone which is the biggest I have ever been.

We do actually eat healthy main meals but I snack far too much. Salty snacks are my downfall.

I signed up to WW weeks ago but then they changed the plan and I gave up !! Any excuse.....

My plan for tomorrow is to weigh in (scary)
Drink lots of water
Meal plan and allow myself one snack. If I say none at all I know I will fail.

And less booze is definitely going to have to be a thing.

1winterblues · 09/01/2022 21:31

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I've stayed on plan. Took left over xmas cake to my the friends house which made me feel better.

Tomorrow is weigh in day so fingers crossed it pays off.

My son weighs 4st 9 and is 8, and I struggle to pick him up at all now, and it's really shocked me in the past when I realised I need to lose more than his weight, and also what that weight must be doing to my body

OP posts:
1winterblues · 10/01/2022 09:20

So today was my first weigh in. I have lost 4.5lbs. I have been so ridiculously good this week as it's been week 1 now for week 2. I'm aiming for 3 lbs loss and 3 exercise classes a d to stay on plan, keeping to 5 syns a day max

Whats everyone else's plan. / targets for the week

I could’ve written that word for word!! May I join?

I lost 8 stone with SW. Took me 4 yrs. happy to help with any questions people may have.

Since covid I’ve gained 2 stone.

I’ve got a deadline to lose the weight. I’m on stage! So will be following something a little more restrictive for just two months. This is how I lost the last two stone as I found SW stopped working for me after losing 6 stone.

Fruit for brekkie. Homemade soup for lunch Dinner is whatever I’m doing for the family, minus carbs, and a small portion. I drink a lot of water.
If I’m hungry in between I’ll nibble on crudities and a small piece of homemade flapjack.

I’m 46 now and peri menopausal and find it much harder to lose weight on SW. it works for a few weeks then becomes harder, especially if I exercise But that’s me and how my body works. We’re all different.

Break a leg everyone!!

Timetobuckup · 10/01/2022 09:49

Morning , well I braved the scales and I am 15.2 . I am so annoyed with myself .

My plan today is drink lots of water , only have one snack and take a movement break every hour or so.

Well done on the loss 1winterblues that is a fab start.

Happyface120 · 10/01/2022 10:09

First weigh in today:3.5lb lost! 20.5lb to go 😂🙈
Well done on your loss @1winterblues
Plan for this week is more of the same, stick to plan, plenty of exercise, limited alcohol

Yearoftheskinny · 10/01/2022 17:18

Hi All,

Hoping to join the group too!

I started slimming world with just the App last Monday. Lost 2lb this week, which was disappointing but I am just starting my star week so not sure if that might have affected things.

I am the same as a few here, knew things were getting worse for me weight wise and weight in the new year and was 17stone 2. It’s the heaviest I’ve been. I’m almost 6ft, so people try to say that I can get away with some weight because I’m tall, but I feel awful. I am short of breath and feel embarrassed about how I look. I avoided seeing friends back in our hometown for Christmas as I was embarrassed about my weight.

I know I need to do something. I’m hoping posting here might give me a bit of accountability as it’s easy to fall off the wagon.

Good luck everyone!

Kookookachuu · 10/01/2022 18:33

Just to butt in OP, Heck chicken sausages are low syn. The chicken Italia ones are quite tasty.

Frostine · 10/01/2022 18:38

Hello . I started my diet today ( not slimming World , just dieting by myself) I'm a yo-yo dieter , and have been slim and then fat many times over . 5 stone to lose.

Azpil · 10/01/2022 19:02

Hi all, can I join albeit a bit late?

I did SW a few years ago and largely kept it all off until Covid and new exercise regime. I work out 4-5 times a week, once with a PT and 4 classes. I am into powerlifting now so I know a good portion of my weight gain is muscle and water retention.

But I have 1.5 stone to lose.

Today I’ve been unhealthy! I had:
A brick lane bagel
Some sweets
A small pot of pre prepared chicken pasta.

I estimate calories on 1200 though (pasta was 300 cals, sweets were 200 and the rest will be bagels).

Tomorrow I will do slimming world tho as I have just had an Asda delivery.

I’m thinking:
Weetabix with milk (A) breakfast / lunch
Snack as a fat free yoghurt (1)
Chilli tacos (14 syns will be allocated for the taco wraps (4.5 syns each so I’ll probs have 2-3)

PinchOfVom · 10/01/2022 19:07

Can I join pls? I’m a psychopath so going to try mainly juicing and see how I get on

Don’t worry, I won’t die, I have 5 stone to lose which is pretty devastating

I went straight into a eating disorder when the pandemic started 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Vickles20 · 10/01/2022 20:14

A tip for cooking heck chicken Italia sausages. They go really dry if you’re not careful. I roast them in the oven in a baking tray full of onions. It helps steam them a bit, if that makes sense. Then you’ve got roasted onions too
