SW consultant is obese

I was just wondering if any of you had come across this and if there were any SW rules about size?
My consultant is clinically obese (I found out her weight by accident). She reached target a few years ago (from a lot heavier) but has now put a bit back on. She doesn’t weigh in at group and tells us how well SW works for her. I am finding it all a bit odd.

I had two who were both at target, one I would say was a little bit under. But both had used the plan to loose weight

I think a lot of people join as they need to lose weight but then look forward to their meeting as a time when they can focus on themselves for a couple of hours and meet other members. There is a social aspect and a good place for members who maybe live on their own. Nearly all of the Consultants I have known have been significantly overweight. SW doesn’t work for me but the members were lovely, the Consultants were not.

All the ones I’ve ever met have been. I’ve recently lost 3 and a half stone on sw , it works for me. Of course if I go back to eating massive portions or crap food like I was before then I’ll put it back on again. That’s the same with any type of weight loss though

My NHS dietitian/nutritionist is obese. I find it hard to take her seriously when I've never been overweight.

To be a consultant you have to have lost weight on SW. They will be a member at their own group rather than the group they 'teach', so they get the support as well if they need it.

I don't think you have to be at target, as long as you have lost a certain level and are getting there. The difference with SW is that you choose your own target and don't have to go by BMI (WW used to say your target had to be in a healthy BMI).

You could have someone at SW who gets to target and is still obese if that is the target they chose and they lost weight to get there. If they are already obese then chances are they have lost weight from much larger.

I am not sure what their view is if the consultants gives up on the plan and puts all the weight back on though.

My consultant is bigger than me, but she's lost 6 stone and is at target. She is also fab! There are people at my group that are at my weight now and I still want to lose 1 1/2 stone. My bmi is 27. They have lost huge amounts of weight to get to that. That is still a huge achievement even though they are still technically overweight.

I disagree with everyone my old slimming world consultant was rake thin and always had been (We looked her up on Facebook and she always had been) a skinny person sticking to plan and claiming to stay at target is more annoying to me than an obese person who's more like myself and knows the up and down struggles!

My SW consultant lost 6 stone in a year but is not stick thin. He is great because he understands we're all food addicts and can fall off the SW wagon at times. He's put on a stone over Christmas, but is going get it off over January. I find it inspiring that he struggles too and understands that. Also of course SW won't work if you stop SW and go back to old habits. But it is more sustainable than most plans. And if the group chats are a bit full of "buy the Iceland meals" never mind. The advice tips and suggestions on many areas of eating make up for that.

Most classes are ran by middle aged women.
And in generally women gain weight as they age.
When I was 20 I was going out regularly, I limited my food so I could look good. At 30, I was running about after toddlers. At 40+, I’m married, have older kids, a sedintary job, don’t really like exercising and enjoy going out for meals and cooking. Hence I’m fat.

And despite going on a diet and loosing some weight, the temptation to sit and watch a film with some snacks rather than go to the gym is always there and eventually will win.

Sw does work if you follow it
