Slimming world 2015 start

Have been on slimming world for a week and a half with a starting weight of 10st11. I,m doing from home as time commitments tricky to do meetings plus the cost. Followed the plan pretty closely for the first week apart from one meal, which I was too tired to bother with but pretty gutted nothing lost the first week. Perhaps that time of month.
I only weigh on a mon am and would like to get to under 10 St to see the 9's again would be fab.

I have followed it in the past and usually stick to pasta n sauce with salad / jp and virtually fat free cottage cheese, lots of fruit and muller light. This has usually worked in the past but have read more about the super fast and super free not just free as I think diet was too carb heavy.

I love all fruit and veg and am vegetarian so in theory shouldn't be too tricky. Main prob is my work has me out and about a lot , ft work plus pt eve work, so tend to eat nothing and then starving. Second prob is long term renovation of our house. Rubbish kitchen which has no heating, camp stove and is basically a building site, but hey ho this year (after 6 years) my new kitchen will be ready to go.
I,ve been a bit blaze with dieting as whilst I love cooking, the environment is horrible. I wasn't,t going too worry too much about dieting until the new kitchen was all sorted but have now decided I want new slimmer ( and less grumpy) me by the time I start our new kitchen / living dream.
This week I have focused so far on the super speed foods getting ten in is an easy challenge for me and have enjoyed making syn free veg lasagne, syn free curry etc.
pretty much I can live on free foods / super free and not bother too much about the hea heb. Maybe a couple of slices of brown for breakfast with beans at the weekend.
I don,t have a sweet tooth. Give me cheese and biscuits and wine any day. Have traded wine for vodka diet coke (far too much of) but with everything else going on house / work stress and the running around of two little ones and two step children in a building site, one challenge at a time!

I am hoping weigh in number 2 is more successful on mon.

I find the site really handy for tips etc,. I,ve never posted before do here goes. Might keep me motivated and away from the cheese !

Hi lovelies.
Just a wee check in as I am so bloomin happy are my weigh in.
After my maintain last week I really was starting to lose hope, then I lost 5lbs this week! amazing!!
That's given me my one stone award... in 6 weeks! So pleased :)

silky80 · 28/01/2015 21:52

Poppy that's fab. You've really made me want to stick with it. Shattered this week and had long days and eve at work (just got in) and not had time to sort dinner out. Close to the cheese and biscuit point but you've motivated to hold off.

Do people treat themselves ie makeup, going out, new clothing when they get a goal ie Poppy's 1 stone.

Poppy that's amazing, what a great result!! Can you already see a big difference when you look in the mirror??
Silky I think that's a great idea!! Will think of something for my first stone lost...... Can't spend much as I'm on Mat leave though!

silky80 · 29/01/2015 19:59

Well my mind and body were being bl**dy minded with each other and ended up munching on crisps from Xmas. Oh well that's what happens when I work late and I,ve nothing prepared.

Pondering to have a weigh in tomorrow am and not wait until Monday am as to either motivate me if I,ve gained etc as I feel I may slip this weekend. What do you think. Xxx

OP posts:
poppyseedbagel · 29/01/2015 22:14

Definitely stick with it! I was losing hope with a maintain (totally not the end of the world... but i had worked so hard!), but i think that it shows that even if it doesnt work out one week it's worth it to stick with it to see how the next week goes.

Would be fab idea to get a treat on big awards, I'm on the SW to enjoy my honeymoon in May and have held off starting to buy a wardrobe for that. So my treat is going to be a massive treat in a few months when I'm hopefully into much smaller clothes and feeling much better about myself when sunbathing on the beach.

I don't notice much change when I look in the mirror, but I have had a lot of comments from other people that they can tell the difference. My jeans are falling off me now!

poppyseedbagel · 29/01/2015 22:17

I would stick with your scheduled weigh-ins to be honest! It can work both ways, either after a bad weekend you weigh and its a gain- then it could motivate you and encourage to have better weekends, or you can weigh in and still lose after a few cheat days and you will know that you can still enjoy yourself if you are good for the rest of the time.
I'm more tempted to have an 'unhealthy' treat if I have done particularly well, so weighing in early may give you encouragement to treat yourself more at the weekend IYSWIM

silky80 · 30/01/2015 08:12

Thanks poppy. I will wait until Monday and give some thought to my weekend menu.

Well after I had burnt (cremated) my syn free wedges last night, couldn't be bothered cooking anything so munched on half a tub of twiglets. Oh well they were probably the least damage of snacks.

Spent this morning cooking syn free Dahl and Bombay potato for dinner this evening and then remembered we're at the in laws for nephews birthday. Is it rude to take a bowl of Dahl? I don,t like mentioning I,m on a diet either.

Thought I,d share my new find. There are water challenge apps that record your water intake. I never drink water unless it is in the form of coffee, diet coke, vodka or wine! I,m going to try a 30 day challenge with the diet.

Had two glasses already, tap wate here is horrible yuk!

OP posts:
poppyseedbagel · 31/01/2015 17:42

I'm not particularly a fan of plain old tap water- but I bought a brita water jug which i think tastes so much better- and as its kept in the fridge its always lovely and cold! Try one of them? Asda and Tesco do the cartridges which fit in the brita water jug which works out so much cheaper!

I also had a great tip about mixing in an options white hot choc powder into fat free yoghurt and it turns out like a yummy white chocolate topping for fruit! So yummy and great if your craving something sweet.
Ended up buying all different flavours of hot choc to try mixing in with the yoghurt.

silky80 · 02/02/2015 07:29

10st9 1/4.

Mmmm well although I would have liked pounds off I,m not too surprised. Although I do think I have lost some as tummy looks slightly smaller. I may re weigh in a couple of days as been drinking tons of water.

Week four here we go!

How is everyone doing. I think I have had a fairly good week and can definitely feel a difference, so hoping Monday will show it.

My water challenge is going well and by day 5 I can completely see my skin is looking loads better so I,m a convert to that and plan to carry on.

Night out on sat with oh so as we get out about twice a year together will just go with the flow. Definitely thinking of long term rather then quick fix.

Making lots of veg lasagne, Dahl, casseroles etc but still the prob of work and fitting something in. Been eating tons of fruit when I can,t get anything and then the other day by 3pm managed to grab a pre packed bowl of salad and cottage cheese to stave the temptation.

Veggie recipes for the weekend. May try the syn free pizza again as have pizza in for step kids.

Ideas welcome

Hi all thought I would see how everyone is getting on.

I started 10st 13 at the beginning of jan and since then got down to 10 St 2 (a bit of stress diet going on there).

After being off track for a few weeks I am now 10st 5 1/4 so want to get focused again. Too much cheese, bread, pizz and wine.

I would like to hit under 10 for my holiday in summer so quite achievable if I get focused.

Today : hex a milk in coffee.
Fruit and yoghurt
Bachelor pasta n sauce and salad
Dinner: mushroom risotto and salad.

Hi, I also started Slimming World in 2015- 16lb loss so far! I love that you can eat so well on it although missing fish and chips and pasties! I set up a page on Facebook with lots of recipe ideas if anyone is interested- this is it: www.facebook.com/slimmingworld2015recipetester

At the moment I am moving all the recipes over to a blog so that they are easier to access and save, it's not live yet but it will be www.theslimmingfoodie.com.

Hope you like it!

PlayingHouse · 10/06/2015 13:37

Can I join in please! Had my first WI yesterday and lost 8lb.

Have a long way to go and could really use support Smile

TooManyButtons · 10/06/2015 16:45

PlayingHouse That's an amazing loss, well done!

I started sw yesterday. I've done it before, but have always managed to put the weight back on. I'm now the fattest I've ever been, and utterly disgusted with myself. But, I'm doing something about it, and I'm in it for the long run!

silky80 · 12/06/2015 10:19

Comeback 9, you have done really well and you're nearly there. But it is hard after a period.

I have just weighed myself and 10st 8. I wouldn't care but I haven't eaten loads but just grabbing little things as rushed with work and not been home to cook.

Need to focus (and go shopping for some actual food).

Thinking Jp and fat free cottage cheese for breakfast/lunch.

I have loads of cabbage and leeks so may make a speed soup.

Any vegetarian ideas with no eggs is good.

I have had the sainsbury veg burgers which are 1syn so with he x b wholemeal pitta and loads of salad. May have that for a weekend, fast foods type meal.

Hi All,
Looking for some motivation with the Slimming World healthy eating plan. Since having my daughter who is now 4, I have been a ranged between 10st 4lbs (post pregnancy) to 8st 10lbs, my lightest last November. I am 5ft 2inches. If I don't watch my diet, the weight creeps on. Most recently I have been a steady 9st 5lbs. I joined in the gym in April and was doing 3 exercise classes a week and following the SW plan but the scales stayed at 9st 5lbs! I got disheartened, had a busy few weeks, didn't go to the gym and could feel the weight creeping back, as I am small it shows quickly! Over the last three weeks I have been doing classes 3 times a week at the gym. I lost 2lbs in the first week and 3lbs in the 2nd week leaving me bang on 9st (weighed myself Sat). I want to make sure I carry on, I don't just want to lose the weight I really want to get toned. I work full time so have to fit in classes on a Sunday morning and two in the evening throughout the week. I seem to get stuck at this weight, my goal weight is 8 stone 5. I enjoy ready everyone's tips and stories. It keeps me motivated!

AngelaMO3 · 09/09/2015 23:16

Hi there,

I'm thinking about joining SW following a recommendation from a friend. She has borrowed me a couple of recipe books that I want to try for a few weeks before I commit to actually joining.

My friend has lost over a stone now and says it works really well, but looking through the recipe books she gave me I'm worried my other half will struggle. He really likes meat and does most of the cooking - it's not that I can't or won't cook but usually he doesn't even let me in the kitchen! He loves meat and uses the fat/juices for everything like roasting potatoes in or adding to the gravy. I do love his cooking but I partly blame him for the weight I have put on since I met him, although I also blame myself as I like to snack between meals.

Does anyone doing SW find the food tastes different without the fat etc. and is it easy to stick to? My other half has offered to cook meals from one of the recipe books next week but, from the look on his face, he didn't look too impressed by them to be honest!

kazzerb50 · 13/09/2015 10:01

Hi.
Can I please join in ?

I have joined, and re-joined, slimming world several times but find it quite difficult to stick to. The main reason being the amount of time I feel I need to dedicated to chopping and planning etc.

Can anyone recommend a solution to this ?

Thank you

Chezza17 · 21/09/2015 15:22

hi everyone im just about to join slimming world, think I have about 2 stone to loose (maybe more) ....My question is has anyone tried to loose weight whilst taking Amitriptyline, iv gained nearly a stone since taking this drug (but alas needs must) thanks for responding... :)
