I'm slightly overawed by all the information on the website and getting myself a bit confused. (Doing it online)

Can anyone offer any advise on how to start myself off please?

Such great tips here

Hi, I'm back on the SW wagon since last week and feel better already. I haven't joined a group and hark back to the old Red and Green days although I have dabbled in EE too. One of the tips which has stuck with me is at least one third of your plate super free. Makes sure your veg intake is high. I second the recommendation of SlimmingEats blog, some fantastic recipes.

One thing that us emphasised at my group is to include 1/3 speed food in every meal (i.e. What was previously known as superfree). So things like bananas as far as I know are free but not speed.

For SW chips; par boil them, drain, put back over the heat to dry out.
Then spray the frylight into the pan over the pots. Then add some salt, pepper and paprika then cook until golden.
The paprika makes all the difference especially to the colour!

Oh yeah - shake the pan with the lid on, give it all a good mix up!

I am so confused. What does EESP mean? I'm 5 days in and have lost 3lbs but to be honest I'm just watching what I eat really because I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm dyslexic and though I normally manage pretty well I'm really struggling to understand the SW pages and I'm getting so disheartened. I'm doing it online as I can't get to meetings, can anyone offer me any advise? Sad

EEXP Extra Easy Speedfoods Proteinfoods.

The basis of Slimming world on extra easy is 1/3 of your meals are made up of speed foods (S). Speed foods are almost all veg and fruit. Pureed and cooked fruit doesn't count that needs to be syned.

The next thing on your plate is protein foods (P) so fish, eggs, pulses (including baked beans and peas), chicken and unprocessed meats with fat trimmed off, mince thats less than 5% fat and various vegetarian meat replacement type products (but I'm not up to speed on those).

The majority of the remainder of your food should ideally be free food which includes potatoes, pasta, rice, stock, herbs and spices and a few veg/ fruit like bananas plus things like fat free yogurt, most muller light yogurts.

Each day you get an additional allowance for healthy A (calcium intake foods)essentially milk or cheese. Healthy B which is wholemeal bread, oats and breakfast bars. Additional cheese, oats and bread type stuff can be syned.

Syns are then for things like processed foods, snacks, crisps, alcohol, non sugar free drinks.

On extra easy you just focus on filling up on SP and free foods. I've lost 3stone 10.5lb since mid May doing just that plus the odd day of being in a situation where its not practical to stick to syns so just enjoying myself and getting right back to plan next day.

EESP is a way of spending a week boosting weight loss by just having SP healthy A 2x healthy B and syns. So no pasta, rice, potatos but you can use your healthy b x2 for two slices of bread or 4 small loaf slices.

EEXP should say EESP as if things aren't confusing enough when you start out!

Have a look at Minimins.com - loads of advice and food diaries there.

The basics are - Fill 1/3 of your plate with speed foods (mainly vegetables and most fruits) the other 2/3 with other free foods (e.g. lean meat, plain carbohydrates, fat free yoghurt, pulses).

can also have spices and sauces from the store cupboard list and fry with fry light.

In addition. Have one measured Healthy extra A (mostly people use milk but you can have cheese) and one Healthy extra B (whole meal bread or cereal usually) per day.

And have 5-15 syns per day.

EESP is for when your losses slow down and you want a boost and is a bit stricter regarding the free food part. 50:50 Speed and protein foods only. But 2 Healthy extra Bs. and syns as usual.

Good luck

Thanks from me too. I've just started online and was pretty confused.

The iPad app doesn't sem very good. Though it could be me. I can search for foods but seem unable to add them to my 'plan'.
