No one? Really?

I'm not resorting to name changing and replying myself.

thisisyesterday · 25/07/2008 11:50

Pinkjenny · 25/07/2008 11:50

i used it and loved it.i didnt have patience to continue but think it helped my state of mind!it is not a quick fix solution but is nice!

Pinkjenny · 25/07/2008 11:56

Really - did it work or not? What do you mean by nice??

OP posts:
LavenderMist · 25/07/2008 11:57

I'm going to start using it with my 9 month old in a few weeks time. We are about to move and have a major lifestyle change so no point starting just yet. If anyone fancies a support thread with sharing sleep logs, plans etc then I'd be up for it

thisisyesterday · 25/07/2008 12:00

I am being really crap and I keep forgetting to actually log naps and stuff, which means I then can't log night feeds.

well, I can, but you're supposed to compare with the naps aren't you?

think a dedicated thread is a great idea for those who need little (great big) push. like me lol

cheesesarnie · 25/07/2008 12:01

it worked in the way that i understood his sleep patterns more and realised it wasnt always as bad as i thought and could almost predict his waking.i mean nice as in felt better than some of the other sleep solutions about.

cheesesarnie · 25/07/2008 12:02

there used to be a few big threads on here that you could read to give you an idea of how it worked etc.i'll try to find them.

MrsBadger · 25/07/2008 12:02

yes
it is slooow but it is working

at 8m dd was up till 10pm, would only feed to sleep, coslept and fed all night.

now (11m) she goes to sleep like a dream at 7pm (not on the boob) and stays in the cot all night, needing feeding/resettling at 10 / 1 / 4 ish but resettling herself in between, and waking for the day sometime between 6 and 7.30.

the night feeds are gradually becoming shorter and shorter (ie less than 5min), and she is starting to squirm off the boob towards the cot when she has finished rather than me having to do the pull-of.

occasionally I can resettle her without feeding, eventually will do it without picking her up...

cheesesarnie · 25/07/2008 12:04

here

MrsBadger · 25/07/2008 12:04

I never did the sleep logs, just kept vague track in my mind.

cheesesarnie · 25/07/2008 12:05

and here

im sure theres many more but that was 2 i posted on and follwed(i was moljam)

cheesesarnie · 25/07/2008 12:06

i liked the sleep logs

LavenderMist · 25/07/2008 12:21

MrsBadger, your 8 month description is exactly like ds at the moment. You have given me hope! Thank you

MrsBadger · 25/07/2008 12:25

good!

I will warn you we had several weeks of thundering up and down the stairs every 20min to resettle her between 7 and 10pm though - DH and I took it in turns, and if she hadn't settled within 20min the other one had to come up and take over.
Hard work but it meant each of us got to eat dinner (if separately) and no-one spent all evening stuck upstairs in the dark...

soremummy · 25/07/2008 12:26

Im trying it and praying it will work she is 14mths old pinkjenny

eandz · 25/07/2008 12:42

wait wait wait...

i bought this book so i could use it on my brand spanking new newborn... i can still use it on him when's he's fresh from the womb, right?

MrsBadger · 25/07/2008 13:24

oh yes - it has tips on how to establish healthy sleep habits for newborns, but it's primarily intended for people with a habit to break (hence the 'Solution' bit).

It's not a rigid how-to manual like Some Gurus I Could Mention though.

Pinkjenny · 25/07/2008 13:32

I am having to go to bed with dd at 7pm. Not good.

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 25/07/2008 15:50

but remember eandz that new babies are supposed to wake frequently for food anyway, so you won't be getting any sleep for a while lol

eandz · 25/07/2008 17:01

thisisyesterda,
you are right. i know you are right. but i'd like to stay in denial for another week.

so realistically, if i keep the baby in our bed will i be able to get any sleep while breast feeding?

thisisyesterday · 27/07/2008 21:24

eandz, I think it entirely depends on the baby.
My first was a fantastic sleeper. fed every 4 hours and was sleeping through by 5 months.

ds2 is another matter entirely lol

and I have done things exactly the same with both of them. sometimes you're lucky and get a sleeping one, sometimes you aren't.

MrsBadger is right though, the book does have tips on creating good sleep habits and there are things you can do.
just try not to have any expectations of baby sleeping, that way you can't be disappointed lol

eandz · 27/07/2008 21:48

ok, well i guess i won't close the door on the book completely but won't hold my breath either.

your ds's sound great, your firstborn sounds like a dream come true.

i wonder what kinda baby is in store for me.
