i know some of you think it is wrong wrong wrong to leave a baby to cry

but with both boys we have reached points where we have decided to use cc

with ds1 it was a 2 night process - job done. he's now 3yo and we've never looked back

ds2 different. he goes through phases of screaming when he's put down for a nap or at bedtime. tonight he made himself sick within 2 or 3 minutes of being put down (we'd planned to go in after 5mins)

last night he woke at 3am and cried until 5:10 - we were in and out the whole time

we've learnt through experience that he is generally fine - not hungry/ill - happy as larry once up and out of his cot

again, i know some of you will say i should have got him up at 3am and held him/come downstairs/whatever

but i am

knackered

3+ years of being woken at 5am. a handful of 6am starts thrown in to ease the pain. in 3+ years i have woken naturally once

i could not get up at 3am

just could not

heyulp

Not at all - do you have any fun stuff in NZ that you can't get anywhere else? Might make an interesting swap

Oh you have my sympathies Tutter.
DS1 was an horeendous sleeper, truly awful.

The only way he would settle was with a bottle. He wouldnt have dummies at any cost.
And he did the crying till he was sick thing too.

Dh cracked one night and just took the bottle off him.
We had two nights of screaming and since then he has been a dream sleeper.
Sleeps from 6/7pm till 8am with no wakings.

DS2 however has got into a similar pattern

I think scootergrrl deserves a great big shiney medal.

i used the boots own brand teething gel, tuts, twice as much lidocaine as all the other products.

Scootergrrrl · 14/07/2008 14:11

Partial success ladies - I have teething tablets but not gel from the American shop. Watch this space for further updates...

I have a teething DD and have just asked my Mum who is in Las Vegas at the moment to get me some baby Oragel & the teething tablets (thanks for the recommendation Scootergrrl!)

I have asked for 8 tubes (wanna make sure I have plenty, DD is only 17 weeks and already a nightmare) am sure could spare one or indeed ask her to get another couple if anyone wants it?

damadilemma · 15/07/2008 06:11

oh wow I'm lovin the teething solidarity, can I join in?
DD teething and seems to be coping relatively well so far but not a great sleeper at the best of times and DS was a nightmare when his molars were coming through from 12-18 months so want to be prepared for the worst...
Ewe please can I have a tube of gel and a pack of tabs?? can we do paypal?

Have you had his ears checked out? If they have an ear infection or have been left with glue ear after an infection they get the most horrendous shooting pain behind the eardrum when they are lying down. So speaks the voice of experience here...
