DS 6 is waking up like clockwork at 6.15am every.single.morning 🤦🏻‍♀️😩
He always used to sleep until 7/7.30am but since the clocks changed and the lighter mornings and birds tweeting outside at god know what hour he wakes at 6.15am no matter what. We have black out blinds, but nothing we do makes a difference.
I'm just curious to know what time other children this age are currently waking up? I feel like this is too early and worse than when he was little 😂🙈

DD (5) is anywhere from 4.30-6 but usually around 5.30.
I'll be honest, I let her have her tablet 6-7 and she's under instruction not to shout me unless absolutely necessary. I'm a single parent so no alternating the early starts and if I'm lucky I can doze back off for half an hour (though the light/birds are disturbing my sleep too!).

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 15/05/2023 06:51

My 5 year old is a lazy bugger and will sleep until woken on a school morning, Anything up to 10.30 on a weekend/school holiday.
We had to wake him up on Christmas morning last year.

CatsOnTheChair · 15/05/2023 06:52

By posting at this time, you are more likely to attract the early risers! My 12 year old was awake when I came downstairs at 6.30.
I'd expect the 14 year old to be here before 7.

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 15/05/2023 06:53

I never understand these threads. 6am isn't that early children. Anywhere between 4.30 and 6.30 here.

MsFrog · 15/05/2023 06:56

Between 5-6 usually for both of them. I always thought it was normal for kids to be early risers.

Pinkplasticbathcup · 15/05/2023 07:03

6am this morning. That was a lie in!

Sirzy · 15/05/2023 07:05

3.30-5.30 normally. Anything after 5 is a lie in!

Leapintothelightning · 15/05/2023 07:16

6am like clockwork. Regardless of what time they go to sleep 😴

pbdr · 15/05/2023 07:18

4am on the dot every morning Sad

Hugasauras · 15/05/2023 07:21

Between 6 and 7.

LSSG · 15/05/2023 07:23

Mine are early birds, both of them. I've just submitted to it now and 6 is our get up time, I go to bed by 10, sometimes before. They do often wake before then but they have to quietly play in their room til 6. DS with a bit of help whilst I make tea and dd is old enough to manage herself now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2023 07:30

Don't hate me

Dd6 goes to bed 630 and wakes usually 715/730

She's still asleep (730am) at the moment. If she not awake by 745 I will go and wake her for school

Usually sleeps well tho the other half term I woke her 745 every morning the last week then sat she woke 645 😂

But that's rare

She knows she can read in bed quietly if ever wakes till gro clock comes on - 7.15am

HadEnough2023 · 15/05/2023 07:37

Ds7 usually 8am, sometimes earlier as I have to check his blood glucose around 7am depends how quiet I am. 🙈

Ds12 will happily sleep in till gone 11am on the weekends, 7.45am on school days.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 15/05/2023 07:40

Blondes - I felt bad saying about my youngest but there are children who don’t get up early and love sleep.
I wish I did. I’ve only had 7 hours since Friday morning. I like to think DS gets his ‘laziness’ from my ex!

kikisparks · 15/05/2023 07:43

DD 18 months is usually 6 but we tell her it’s sleepy time and don’t get her out of cot til 6.30 (she lies back down or plays with the toys in her cot). Before the clock change it was 5.30 and we didn’t get up til 6 but we managed to shift everything back by 30 mins when the clock changed (she now goes to bed at 7.30 instead of 7). I’m ok with 6, 5.30 felt too much!

stopringingme · 15/05/2023 07:44

Anytime between 4.45am and 6am, at the moment more 4.45am than later.

Occasionally doesn't wake until 7.30am - this only happens on a school day not the weekend 🥱

Does not matter what time they go to bed.

SwordToFlamethrower · 15/05/2023 08:56

About 8 -8.30am.

The kicker is we can't get her to sleep until about 10 - 10.30pm most nights!

She is 6 months.

specialk9 · 15/05/2023 08:59

DS 6 wakes between 7.30 and 8 so I have to wake him on a school day at 7.30. But he doesn't go to sleep until 8.30pm, last night was 9

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/05/2023 09:04

My 7 year old weeks between 8 and 9, usually. His Echo Dot wakes him on school days.

My 18 month old wakes between 7:30-8:30 usually.

But neither of them go to bed before 9. And the evenings are loooooong.

Greenfree · 15/05/2023 09:09

DD7 wakes up between 7-8, if she's excited about something then it will be between 6-7. She goes to sleep between 8-9.30pm nornally

shivawn · 15/05/2023 09:14

I can't cope with some of the times listed here....I mean 3:30am?? Really? I'm currently pregnant and am now praying like hell that I don't get an early riser!

My son is 18 months and wakes anytime between 8:15 and 9:30. We have blackout blinds and white noise in his room. He probably goes to bed later than most though. Bedtime is anything between 20:30 and 21:15 depending on when he woke up from his nap that day.

Phos · 15/05/2023 09:30

We have to wake our 6 year old for school.

Weekends anything from 8 to 9:30.

Beachhutnut · 15/05/2023 09:40

I have to wake them up at 7.15 on school days ( if left they would sleep until 8). Weekends they're up anytime from 5.30-6.30 😫

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/05/2023 10:00

I know I'm lucky with mini blondes and her sleep tho she was put in a routine at a few weeks old (my job lol)

Those who say their kids wake later but go to bed later than they like - why don't you start moving bedtime earlier by 15m every few days so an hour is done in 2weeks

I've always said anything past 7am is fine

Those who wake at 4/5/6 I would be encouraging to go back to sleep or look at books quietly

Not getting up /playing /tv etx

Hugasauras · 15/05/2023 10:53

Some of it's a choice too. I don't want to have young kids around and awake till half 8/9 in the evening as DH and I value our time to ourselves there, so ours are both asleep by 7 and sleep for 11-12 hours. If we put them to bed at half 8 then they would sleep later for sure, but tbh we need to be up and getting ready not long after 7 anyway for work/nursery reasons so that's another consideration.
