7 month old STILL not sleeping through! HELP!

DS is now 7 months old and still waking once in the night for a feed. How do I get him to sleep through? My DD natural started sleeping through at 12 weeks so I have no clue what to do here! I've tried ignoring him and seeing if he'll settle down again, he doesn't!

I think you were very lucky the first time - still waking for a feed at this age is completely normal.

Spud1130 · 01/03/2022 07:45

You were just very lucky the first time round. We stopped the night feed at 12m but he still wakes and needs resettling nightly now at 3...

Seeline · 01/03/2022 07:47

Agree that you were very lucky with your first!
I remember my DD reverted to 2 hourly feeds at 8 months so definitely wasn't sleeping through. And she was my good sleeper!
I think certainly up until a year, it is quite normal for them to wake in the night. But many kids still regularly wake until 2.

Notwithittoday · 01/03/2022 07:49

As above lucky. Sleeping through happened here at 18 months and 14 months with my second. It’s just different babies

CaMePlaitPas · 01/03/2022 07:50

This sounds normal, once a night sounds great actually Grin it won't last forever, is he hungry when he wakes up?

PinkiePonk · 01/03/2022 07:50

If you find out a miracle cure - let me know. My 26 month old still doesn't sleep through reliably 😁

WheelieBinPrincess · 01/03/2022 07:52

I’m practically jumping for joy this morning because my six month old has got down to just one feed in the night!! It feels amazing to me, I have no expectations that he will drop that anytime soon. I don’t think it’s as normal as some people make out for small babies to go 7-7 without waking up at all!!

stuntbubbles · 01/03/2022 07:54

Seven months is still tiny! Still less time outside in the world than inside you. DD first slept through at 19 months then didn’t repeat the trick til she was 2. I think you were pulled into a false sense of security first time around.

becca3210 · 01/03/2022 07:58

One feed at 7 months is great as he is only little. I was working on dropping to two at that age and then night weaned at 12 months

UnaOfStormhold · 01/03/2022 08:26

I think at that stage DS was waking every 45 minutes...

Matilda1981 · 01/03/2022 08:29

I’ve had 4 and been fairly lucky in that they all started sleeping through reliably at 9/10 months old (all breastfed); had the odd night when they were a bit younger but not every night at that age!

purplemunkey · 01/03/2022 08:32

If mine was only waking once a night at that age I would have been thrilled! DD didn’t start sleeping through until 2.5years. I also think you were lucky with your first, sorry.

Okeydoky · 01/03/2022 08:39

Sounds totally biologically normal to me, and actually at the better end of normal. Most that age are still waking multiple times a night.

RisingSunn · 01/03/2022 08:44

I am echoing previous posters. You were very lucky first time round. I think your DS is doing great with just one feed. ( I have had 4 - best sleeper slept through from 7 months, and worst sleeper slept through from 2.3)

Nelliephant1 · 01/03/2022 08:46

There's plenty of time. My eldest didn't sleep through until he started school and even then it was patchy.

labyrinthlaziness · 01/03/2022 08:46

Sorry your DD tricked you into thinking all babies sleep through! You got lucky, that's all.

Mommabear20 · 01/03/2022 13:27

Okay, definitely feel better now! 😂
He will finish his bottle then goes back to sleep, just thought we'd be past this stage by now with the odd night of him waking up. We're needing to move him into the room with his sister and don't want him waking her up is all 😣

My 3 year old doesn’t sleep through 😅🤣😅😂😭😣

Harrysmummy246 · 01/03/2022 18:59

Didn't happy for us til 2yo and then not reliably until 3.

Your DS is perfectly normal, you just had a unicorn baby the first time.

DockOTheBay · 01/03/2022 19:00

"Still" waking at 7 months is pretty normal, i would say waking once a nice is pretty great. My daughter is 2 this month and wakes 3 times a night

AndSoFinally · 01/03/2022 19:07

Really? I might buy a lottery ticket then as all 3 of mine have reliably slept through from about 10 weeks. The youngest is 6 months now. We give him his tea at 5pm (some sort of jar), then bath at 6 followed by bottle, then bed. He's asleep within about 5 minutes. We half wake him at 9:30 ish for another bottle, then don't hear anything from him until about 8:30am if we don't wake him. They've all 3 had pretty similar routines.

I would try just giving water during the night. Once he knows he's not getting milk he likely won't bother.

AndSoFinally · 01/03/2022 19:09

That routine has been the same since he was 10 weeks old, except his tea was another bottle at that point.

Some bsbies sleep through thd night but a lot don't. Somd wake multiple times a night. Once is very reasonable at this young age. I'd say offering water to a hungry baby is quite cruel.

museumum · 01/03/2022 19:13

My ds slept through at 10 months. I think that seemed quite normal among my mum friends.
