Talk to be about next to the bed cots.

Baby is due August. 2nd baby. 9 years between this one and the last.
Been looking at Next2Me and snuzpod type next to the bed cots. Plan is to breastfeed again and from last time having them easily close would be a plus.

However, it looks like the majority of these are only usable up to 5-6 months, have you found this?

I've just seen a next2me forever, which can last much longer, worth the price increase?

I also need to check if this style would fit next to the bed - I like the snuzpod because the legs are at the end and don't have to go under the bed (hope that makes sense!)

Interested to hear from those who have used these or similar ones and what you've found.

I loved our next 2me cot. I had it for DC2 and bought another one for our surprise DC3 (as I'd gotten rid of all baby stuff). I didn't breastfeed and it was still an absolute dream. I didn't actually use the straps to attach it to the bed so no advise there. I got quite a long time out of it as mine were small babies (both quite premature nicu babies).

PopGoesBang · 27/02/2022 17:45

@minniep Good to know you didn't attach it - might mean I can get away without getting DP to measure and be technical.
Also good point about smaller babies.

Think I may have looked at too many cots today - they are all blurring together!

We have a next to me attached to the bed - not quite sure I understand your question there but I recommend it so much easier to see to them in the night and lasts longer than a Moses basket. My baby is 5 months, 91st centile and still a little way of growing out of it so will last another couple of months until he is ready to sleep in his own room.

DoNotTouchTheWater · 27/02/2022 17:56

My experience was that the baby would not sleep in the snuzpod. Ever. He’d sleep next to it on my bed but never in it. It was a total waste of money

Happymama24 · 27/02/2022 18:01

I love co sleeping cots. We use the arm's reach universal one. My son is 15 months and still using it.
It can also be used as a stand alone unit also

PopGoesBang · 27/02/2022 18:04

@fighoney I think I mean about the legs, some seem to need to slide under the bed? This could just be me looking at pictures - the snuzpod legs looks like they are just there and don't need to slide under anything - I'm still not explaining that well.
Good to know you are finding it hard space, so many reviews have said baby grew out of them at 5/6 months.

@DoNotTouchTheWater my dd was the same when she was a baby, never in anything she should, happily anywhere she shouldn't.
I'm not fooling myself that this one will be any different, but I'm keeping optimistic!

@Happymama24 Ooo that's a new one to me, but sounds like it has a good life span! I shall go look it up. Thank you.

I had a next to me. It was good but I co-slept for the first couple of months so she was only in it maybe 3 months before she was too big (she's a big baby though). I then got the cheapest, smaller sized cot they had in ikea with a decent mattress and left one side off of it. It's attached to the side of the bed and (had to use cable ties to hold the actual cot together because one side isn't on) the mattress sits level with mine and she can just roll over to me whenever she likes.

sabrinatheteenagemortal · 27/02/2022 18:10

DD was in hers far too long, she was still spending time in it over 1! She is pretty small tho. All in all a great purchase. We just got a cheap one off wowcher, but it was well used!

milkieway · 27/02/2022 18:11

Was a massive waste of money for us
Baby just wanted to sleep on me or right next to me in bed so best thing we did was use the big cot as a side car on the bed

whysoserious123 · 27/02/2022 18:12

Snuzpod legs don't need to go under any bed and the cot part can be easily lifters off and used as a Moses basket / travel cot. It's fine to sleep with the side zipped up or with the side down. If you have the side down you can leave it hanging down and tuck your bed covers between the bed and the snuzpod to make sure your bed covers don't get in the babies cot. So easy to just tie it onto the bed frame under your mattress as it takes seconds and vey strong.

PopGoesBang · 27/02/2022 18:17

@Thatsplentyjack Good idea with the cot, potentially something like that could be done from the get go and save the whole getting to big.

@sabrinatheteenagemortal Interesting. And good to know it was still ok for longer.

@milkieway I can see the cot from the start saves a lot. I'm still researching currently and haven't settled on anything.
It's great being able to ask on here and get a good mix of reviews and opinions.

@whysoserious123 Thank you! That is perfect information. I'm possibly a little more drawn to the snuzpod because of the legs. But just want to make sure I'm not wasting money.

I had a next2me but dd had outgrown in at 6 months. I don't remember if it was when she could roll over or sit but it became too dangerous for her to stay in because she could almost fall out.

I sold mine. You might want to check ebay, things like that are worth buying second hand.

PopGoesBang · 27/02/2022 18:40

@bedheadedzombie I was just thinking I might check out market place and eBay. Makes sense when they aren't used long term.

With DC1 we had a snuzpod and they did still end up in over in my bed most of the time. And grew out of it very quickly. With DC2 we got a second hand cotbed and took one side off and put it up next to the bed. Being bigger, it meant I could half lie in it to cuddle and feed the baby lying down (gamechanger). Worked much better.

SouthParkCovid · 27/02/2022 18:58

Our 8 month old is still in her next to me cot.

It's invaluable, i can reach over and pop her dummy in if she stirs.

Littlepip02 · 27/02/2022 19:07

We had a snuzpod for our little boy, he is very tall and did grow out of it around 6 months, it was fine for me as he was formula fed and ready to go into his own room but the bigger one may be better for you if breast feeding Smile

Danikm151 · 27/02/2022 19:09

My son was in a cot bed from the start.
As convenient as the next2me’s are. They aren’t as safe as you’d like to think.

MOR19 · 27/02/2022 19:13

We had a snuzpod and would definitely recommend. It’s worth checking the weight limits on the various types (when we bought ours the snuzpod had a heavier max weight capacity than the others so lasted longer). Always loads for sale second hand and you can buy a new mattress separately from snuzpod. The important thing is that the height is the same as your mattress for safe sleeping (the lullaby trust has some advise on this)

Flittingaboutagain · 27/02/2022 19:13

My almost eight month old still comfortably fits in her Snuzpod 3 and it can be great for breastfeeding through the night as she feeds 4+ times a night still. However, it has a really thin mattress and that combined with silent reflux means she often sleeps in her lie flat carrycot from the pram! I am glad we bought it second hand so it doesn't bother me how little use we've got compared to others I know.

SmellyOldOwls · 27/02/2022 19:14

I bought a baby lo cozi sleeper second hand and my 7 month old is still in it. I actually never used it with the side down, it's still the best thing I bought for her. She's at the perfect height for settling in the night. It's just the right size for popping a bed nest into for the first couple of months if you're so inclined, only supposed to be used for supervised sleep of course although I can't say I followed that guidance. It's so easy to lift the head of the bed up which was great when her reflux was bad. She needs to go into a big cot now she's getting more mobile and I'm dreading it!

neverenoughchelseboots · 27/02/2022 19:14

I found there were lots on gumtree incredibly cheap and in very good condition so worth a check there.

LemonDrizzles · 27/02/2022 19:17

If you breastfeed and have a next to me, it can hold your weight (well mine did anyway....)

So if the bed is on the left and you and on left boob, you can lie baby quite far into the cot, and then slowly scooch back out.

But yes only had mine until 6 months. Very blessed sil gave me an abundance of hand me downs

shivawn · 27/02/2022 19:18

My 4 month old sleeps in a Next to Me and we love it.

lI'm confused by people saying their 8 month-1 year olds still use them....are they not really unsafe for older babies who can sit and pull themselves up?
