HELP - Next to me cot - 22 month old

Hi,

In the next few weeks I'm going to work on putting my LO in his cot in his own room, but for now I need some help/advice on how I lay him down to avoid this issue I'm having when he wakes up in the night.
So last night he went down as normal and slept for 3.5 hours waking up for a feed at 12:30. It took me an hour to get him back to sleep because EVERY time I put him down on his side (he will not lay on his back as he stopped this as soon as he started to roll and is on his front petty much 24/7) he will be fine for a few seconds and then want to roll on his front to sleep....as he does this he gets himself in an awkward position which when I try to move he just then starts to crawl and throw his legs and arms about in cot. IF I don't move him he will get himself on his front but wake himself up and I don't know why as he clearly wants to be in this position. It took me an hour to finally get him down where he fell asleep on his side and then when I woke up a few hours later he was soundo on his front. Is this an issue with size of cot OR purely because he wants to be in a certain position I can't get him in. (He is nearly the length of the snuz pod) is there a way to lay him or a method that works with babies who want to sleep on front.

Apologies for the garbled message. I am half asleep and exhausted!
X

@Newmummy39 Oh dont mention it lovely 💗 there can be so much negativity on mumsnet but a few kind words can really make someones day. It takes nothing.

Keep powering through love and I can assure you these days will be a distant memory. I'm quite nervous now about having a newborn again and adjusting to life with a newborn and toddler. It's gonna be hard and I'm fully pysching myself up for it but I am petrified 🙈
Though I'm hoping they grow up to be the best of friends. I'm just struggling with horrific PGP and my DD has started standing/walking aided so I'm having to be more active than I'd like which is taking it's toll. I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and my bump is huge. I've also got a big daft greyhound too so my household is quite hectic at the moment!

I found the health visitor really patronising. In fact I ended up making some excuse for her to not come back cause she just made me feel like what I was doing for my DD wasn't enough. I'm ready for them this time though, I'll tell them everything they want to hear and hopefully they'll stay off my case 🤣

@MyGrassIsBrowner

That's so true!

Oh bless you. I genuinely take my hat off to women who have more than one. It's tough going albeit hugely rewarding!

2 is a lovely number and i am sure they'll grow up to be the best of friends. A adore greyhounds! My sister used to have one, they have such a lovely temperament don't they?

I promise I'll keep going! Let's see what tonight brings! He's asleep now, so I've taken myself to bed too.

Wishing you all the love and luck with your new little one and let's hope you get some respite in!!

Xxx

@Newmummy39 We are stopping at 2 though. My DP doesn't want me to go through the turmoil of pregnancy again and tbh I don't think I could hack it. I'm not even 30 yet and already feel like my body is failing!

Greyhounds are just fabulous! He didn't race though, too scared when he was taken to the tracks and tbh I dont blame him! He is absolutely amazing with my DD and has the patience of a saint, especially when he's getting toys and balls lobbed at his head by my DD 😆
He likes the quiet life and is quite happy just roaching on the sofa with me and DP.

Good luck for tonight lovely, I have everything crossed for you 🤞 take care and all the best, if ever you wanna PM me, please do!

It's a perfect number! Pregnancy is most certainly tough. I'm an older first time Mum (40 in Nov) so a 2nd one, even if I really wanted another would be tough as I'm not getting any younger and would like a bit of a gap.

Oh bless! I think he's definitely made the right decision there. He's certainly not a silly dog, ha.

So, I ended up sleeping in the room with him. The longest he did was 3 hours 45. I won't do it again tonight, but he woke up so unsettled after I put him down. I'll get there in the end!

He's on his 2nd nap and it's been almost an hour. I fed him breast milk and some baby porridge, so perhaps it's the fact he's hungry? Anyway, at least he's having a nice nap and I'll continue to give him that brekkie going forward until I start to baby led wean in a few weeks!

Thank you so much for this! You'll regret saying that as I won't leave you alone. You have sooo much to deal with atm, so I wouldn't ever expect you to take anymore of your precious time out for this crazy mamma over here! Ha xxxx

@Newmummy39 Oh bless you! I'm 27 myself but honestly feel like my body is giving up already. Having a tough time with this PGP and trying to entertain my 16 month old is proving quite difficult and it's safe to say I've had a few major meltdowns.
Raising children is a journey and a rewarding one at that but there's a side to it that is just completely exhausting and you feel like you just want to dissapear.

Hopefully overtime he's going to be an incredible sleeper, you sound like you're handling it pretty well so far mama.

Hey don't mention it, I love to give advice or at least share my experience with new mamas. I never had it myself and me and my DP have trundled through lockdown with a baby totally on our own. It's been hard work to get were we are now. And now I've gotta do it all again 🤪 xxx
