You can go for an hour beforehand. Just see if it keeps him going longer in the morning. Give it a try.

dooley1 · 06/11/2007 21:06

my motto is the same as longmegs - you wll never know if they can sleep through if you wake them
you could wake them and be up all night

Scanner · 06/11/2007 21:07

yes - I gave all mine a dream feed at that age and they were all great sleepers, in fact still are now at 8,5 &4

beansprout · 06/11/2007 21:07

Dreamfeeds kept me sane. Will def be doing them again with dc2.

WaynettaSlob · 06/11/2007 21:07

If you feed him at 1, what time will he wake?
Ditto, if you feed him at 3?

Tutter · 06/11/2007 21:08

can't really do a proper dreamfeed as he's swaddled

always need to reswaddle him post-feed as he wriggles a bit

OP posts:
Tutter · 06/11/2007 21:09

ah waynetta, that is difficult to predict

the problem is that he never really settles after his nighttime feed

i won#'t actually feed him again til at least 7am irrespective of time of night feed

but he'll wriggle and fidget all through his second chuink of night sleep

OP posts:
wellieboot · 06/11/2007 21:16

Then I would def wake him for a 10pm feed so the second chunk of sleep which you say is unsettled will be from 3am rather than 1am!

BitTiredNow · 06/11/2007 21:21

no

WaynettaSlob · 06/11/2007 21:28

Provided his post-night feed sleep doesn't disturn you too much then I'd go to bed now and let him wake at 1.
I always think crawling back into bed at 2 is better than doing it at 4.

ThomasTankEngine · 06/11/2007 21:50

yes

MuffinMclay · 06/11/2007 21:57

IdrisTheDragon · 06/11/2007 22:06

Yes (with DS)
No (with DD)

DaddyJ · 06/11/2007 23:13

Yes
Try it.
Didn't work for our dd,
is working a treat for my mate's ds (6months old)

ExplodingPelvicfloor · 06/11/2007 23:14

yes

DynamiteDaisy · 06/11/2007 23:17

No...if I wake DD at ten, she will then wake again at three.

If I don't she sleeps from 7:30ish till 6ish (and has been like this since 10 weeks)

No

If you wake them you'll never know if they can sleep through.

It wouldn't have made any difference to mine - they would have woken at 1am anyway.

barbamama · 07/11/2007 00:15

Depends. Can work well (ds1 woke at 11, always went through to 7.30) but as has been said already, fortune favours the brave - won't know if they would sleep through. ds2 is now 9 weeks and I couldn't be arsed with it and he is now sleeping 8-6. Less hassle for me at 11.

Tutter · 07/11/2007 13:31

well, i left him

partly because i went to bed at 9:20 as was so knackered

he shuffled and freeted a bit but managed to go til 2:45 before needing a feed

hurrah

deaconblue · 07/11/2007 13:35

no, I think it doesn't make sense to feed a baby who doesn't even feel hungry. I tried it once with ds and it gave him horrible tummy ache. Also if you go down that route how will you ever know whether they actually needed that feed or not? I have a friend who is still dream feeding her 21 month old in case he wakes up in the night??????

SoupDragon · 07/11/2007 13:37

No. Never wake a sleeping baby at night.

Lazycow · 07/11/2007 15:27

No
